Wereshark?

3.5/d20/OGL

Liberty's Edge

I thought I recalled a wereshark in D&D at one point. Am I nuts???

There is no wereshark in either Bestiary and there are none that I found in the 3.5 D20.org site ...

Was there one or am I, as I fear ... nuts???

If it bites it can be form of some weird werecreature.
Certainly there were weresharks in (A)D&D but I do not remember if they appeared in 3.5 or 3.0. Maybe Ravenloft books or Oriental Adventures.

And yes, you are nuts, but of reasons unrelated to weresharks ;)

Maybe it's oWoD Rokea you are after...

There is, of course...

Um ... maybe?

What's an oWoD Rokea?

Well, given the lycanthrope creation rules, you can pretty much make a were-whatever-you-want.

EDIT: Hm, appears that the hybrid form wouldn't get the shark's swim speed... QQ

Night Howlers, I believe, was the supplement that included weresharks.

Rokea/Samebito are old World Of Darkness weresharks.

There was a Wereshark in D&D 3.0 'Monster Compendium: Monsters of Faerun' softcover book.

Other than that, I don't know...

The Wereshark has 3.0 stats in Monsters of Faerun, and 3.5 stats in Lost Empires of Faerun.

Really? Hmmm ... I wonder if that was where I saw it?

Does anyone know if the contents of those books are considered OGL? I'd really like to take a look at the wereshark entry online somewhere ...

Those are not OGL, so I don't know where you'll be able to find official stats. However, should you ever need to find another monster's source...

Perhaps you saw it a REALLY long time ago in TSR's Creature Crucible line for the Mystara setting? It appeared in PC4: Night Howlers in 1992 (among other lycanthropes)...

Dark Archive

oddly enough, me and some friends were looking online for pewter mini's, and were overwhelmed by the number of various weresharks available.

like 10 different weresharks.

and we werent even trying to look for weresharks.

HOW ARE ALL THESE THINGS SURVIVING WERESHARK ATTACKS?!?

Wereshark was in Creatures of Freeport IIRC.

I-gor: There boat.

Fraunk-enstein: Why are you talking like that?
I-gor: I thought you wanted to.
Fraunk-enstein: I don't.
I-gor: Suit yourself, I'm easy.

The Eberron novel, SEA OF DEATH had weresharks.

Possible spoiler:
Well technically it was a werewolf that was bitten by a shark and became a werewolfshark but I think it still counts.

Silver Crusade

IIRC, there was a wereshark in Monster Manual II.

Really? Any chance you have a link to the write up? I looked in the D20 SRD but found nothing ...

MM2 is closed content, so not much help looking in SRD.

It isn't in MM2; I posted the two WotC 3.0/3.5 books the wereshark is in above. The Lost Empires of Faerun version has stats as follows (while the book itself isn't OGL, both the template and the base creature are, so I see no harm in posting this):

Actually, I'm pretty sure there was a wereshark in the AD&D 1st Edition Monster Manual II (1983) along with other lycanthrope-types such as the Sea Wolf and Foxwoman. After all, the OP did inquire if there was a wereshark in D&D "at one point".

Beastiary 4 has them in it.
