Thanks Paizo for the Free Prince of Wolves, I will make sure one of my friends gets it!

The Exchange

Indeed. I handed my free copy off to a good friend last night.

If only you knew someone who likes books... and wolves.

Scarab Sages

I plan to loan it out in turn to the members of my various gaming groups. 8^)

Grand Lodge

How? o.O

Uh? Strange emotion. What is that word for it? That emotion you feel when you're don't know something or it turns out that the thing you thought was true was false, and you're reeling from this sudden development?

Sovereign Court

Are you saying that I paid for something I could have got for free?

No. This copy isn't for you.

D'oh. I knew I was being too subtle...

Liberty's Edge

Wonder if it was intiontional.

A bug with delivery and Gencon 2010 perhaps.

At least my receipt mentioned Gencon 2010.

The Exchange

No, it was intentional.

You should also have received (at least I did) a bookmark that says, "Hey, thanks for giving us a ton of money. Here's a free book, pass it on and let's get someone else hooked as well". Or something along those lines. It's a cool bookmark, too. Featuring art from PoW's cover.

Someone care to elaborate?

Ah saw the book mark didn't "look" at it. ;-)

Last shipment had a free book in it.

Which is good because for the life of me I can't find my original.

Aww man. How long will that promotion last? :/

From the sound of it it's not so much a promotion as a thank you to subscribers.

I think it is for people who already own the book, to give to friends.

Correct. It IS a promotion, but it's not a "you get a free book!" promotion, it's a "here's a copy to give to other people that HAVEN'T bought the book so they can see how awesome it is!"

Staff would have to confirm, but it would seem that only people that have already bought the book are getting a copy to distribute.

Wow, maybe I will get one then.

If so I'll proably put it in the school library, see if it hooks any students.

Woot! It's in the wild.

Yeah, as was mentioned above, when Pathfinder Tales subscribers got sent their copy of Plague of Shadows we included a free copy of Prince of Wolves to give to someone they think would enjoy reading a PF Tales novel. So give that copy of PoW away ans help continue our march for World Domination. :D

It should also be noted that the reason we're sending the free "give to a friend" books specifically to subscribers is that looking to the subscriber base is the easiest way for us to identify a significant chunk of the hardest-core Pathfinder Tales fans. So while I'm not saying we'll do precisely this promotion again, subscribing to the line lets us know you're a potential literary ambassador, in case we do more things like this in the future. :)

So naturally, the only subscription I *don't* have provides free stuff.

*sigh*

If you feel badly about it, you can always purchase your own additional copy to give to a friend.

Scarab Sages

Thought the give away was a classy act. Very nice Paizo. I'm look to consider who to give this to.

Well, actually, the reason I don't subscribe to that one line is because I think the price point is too high. ;)

Will be taking my copy to KY next month. I've a bibliophile teacher who should enjoy it.

/mugs someone for a free copy.... dammit i miss all the nifty stuff!

Grand Lodge

Thanks. I took it down to my contact in our IT department. No Pathfinder players down there that I know of, but plenty of potential.

If I get one (shipment on schedule for tomorrow), I think I know who I'll pass it to.

1. Likes fantasy? Check.
2. Likes roleplaying stuff? Check.
3. Should be more interested in Golarion? Check. (Well I think so.)
4. Reads books? ... Not sure. If not a reader, I'll probably find another recipient. She used to work in a bookstore though so that's a good sign.

Anyway, that's if I get a second one. I'd try to get my father to read it but he has access to my copy, and he has an elitist view concerning shared-world fiction. (One reason I suggested in a recent thread that the book titles have more prominence on the book covers than the Pathfinder Tales logo.)

Thanks, everybody! And don't forget--even if you don't receive an extra copy of Prince of Wolves, you can always loan your existing copy of any of the books to a friend and help spread the love that way! One of the appeals of printed books is that they're naturally 100% DRM-free. :D

Liberty's Edge

All my friends are currently reading the Game of Thrones series, but I'll give it a shot.

Luckily they'll have several years between when they finish the existing books and the next one to read tons of Pathfinder Tales.

:(

Must you remind us?

Liberty's Edge

Yea....unfortunately....but he might pick it up with the HBO series coming out.

Thanks Paizo! Will pass it on!

Definitely will be spreading the love, this was a brilliant move btw!

I don't have as much time for the forums as I once did, but you can bet I'll be spreading the love. I'm glad I'm still considered among the hardest-core fans.

Now if I could just make it to a Paizo-con or Gencon... ;)

Silver Crusade

No extra in my shipment of PofS this week, but no worries, I'm just glad I was able to start subscribing to something of Paizo's again, :).

I've gotten the last 2 both from Borders in Boise, ID & of course I've had to wait a month or more after it came out at Paizo, figured the extra cost outweighs the wait.

So far pretty good read!

SOoo cool. I think I know a special person I'm going to hook-up and thereby spread the PFT love. Lots of lucky folks are going to be getting an awesome book.

Wait, so there was supposed to be another copy of Prince of Wolves when I received Plague of Shadows? If so, then I didn't get it. Save the shipping and make a note that I'll happily pick it up at PaizoCon, unless I'm on a "list" somewhere... :paranoid:

This was a GREAT idea! I've already sent my extra copy off into circulation.

Not every Tales subscriber was sent an extra Prince of Wolves; we had a predetermined amount that we were willing to spend in additional postage, and if adding a copy to your particular shipment would have cost us more than that amount, we didn't include it. It's nothing personal!

Ah-ha! So I was on a list! The list of people it was too expensive to ship too! :tinfoil:

No worries folks. I've already shared my copy of PoW with two other folks already.

Sovereign Court

I have a free copy!

Hoever, I have ben distracted by the awesomeness of everything else in the box and will have to wait until next week to pass the book on.

Loving the bookmark as well.

The Exchange

When I got my original PoW, I got a second copy with it to give to a friend. When I got this free copy, I gave it to my local library, and then told a bunch of friends that they needed to race to see who could get it first.

Scarab Sages

My so got it with his subscription. He wanted to keep the bookmark, but I suggested for it to stay with the book, since it says to pass it on.

We gave it to a friend of ours at the next game. Said to give it away or back to us, so we can give it to someone else.

I got one too, and I'm giving it to a co-worker tomorrow who's not a gamer but likes to read fantasy novels. Thank you, Paizo!

Sorry. I'll give away the book, but you'll pry my bookmark from my Cold Dead Fingers!

I bet I didn't get one! So the Hamilton Public Library in New Zealand misses out!

I hope I get the bookmark though.

Got one, too.

Since our game is on hiatus right now (people having ridiculous priorities like exams), but I'll pass it on when we get back into the saddle.
