If only...

No, it was intentional.
You should also have received (at least I did) a bookmark that says, "Hey, thanks for giving us a ton of money. Here's a free book, pass it on and let's get someone else hooked as well". Or something along those lines. It's a cool bookmark, too. Featuring art from PoW's cover.

Ah saw the book mark didn't "look" at it. ;-)
Someone care to elaborate?
Last shipment had a free book in it.
Which is good because for the life of me I can't find my original.

Aww man. How long will that promotion last? :/
I think it is for people who already own the book, to give to friends.

Correct. It IS a promotion, but it's not a "you get a free book!" promotion, it's a "here's a copy to give to other people that HAVEN'T bought the book so they can see how awesome it is!"
Staff would have to confirm, but it would seem that only people that have already bought the book are getting a copy to distribute.

Wow, maybe I will get one then.
If so I'll proably put it in the school library, see if it hooks any students.

Woot! It's in the wild.
Yeah, as was mentioned above, when Pathfinder Tales subscribers got sent their copy of Plague of Shadows we included a free copy of Prince of Wolves to give to someone they think would enjoy reading a PF Tales novel. So give that copy of PoW away ans help continue our march for World Domination. :D

It should also be noted that the reason we're sending the free "give to a friend" books specifically to subscribers is that looking to the subscriber base is the easiest way for us to identify a significant chunk of the hardest-core Pathfinder Tales fans. So while I'm not saying we'll do precisely this promotion again, subscribing to the line lets us know you're a potential literary ambassador, in case we do more things like this in the future. :)

If you feel badly about it, you can always purchase your own additional copy to give to a friend.
Well, actually, the reason I don't subscribe to that one line is because I think the price point is too high. ;)

If I get one (shipment on schedule for tomorrow), I think I know who I'll pass it to.
1. Likes fantasy? Check.
2. Likes roleplaying stuff? Check.
3. Should be more interested in Golarion? Check. (Well I think so.)
4. Reads books? ... Not sure. If not a reader, I'll probably find another recipient. She used to work in a bookstore though so that's a good sign.
Anyway, that's if I get a second one. I'd try to get my father to read it but he has access to my copy, and he has an elitist view concerning shared-world fiction. (One reason I suggested in a recent thread that the book titles have more prominence on the book covers than the Pathfinder Tales logo.)

Definitely will be spreading the love, this was a brilliant move btw!
I don't have as much time for the forums as I once did, but you can bet I'll be spreading the love. I'm glad I'm still considered among the hardest-core fans.
Now if I could just make it to a Paizo-con or Gencon... ;)

No extra in my shipment of PofS this week, but no worries, I'm just glad I was able to start subscribing to something of Paizo's again, :).
I've gotten the last 2 both from Borders in Boise, ID & of course I've had to wait a month or more after it came out at Paizo, figured the extra cost outweighs the wait.
So far pretty good read!

Not every Tales subscriber was sent an extra Prince of Wolves; we had a predetermined amount that we were willing to spend in additional postage, and if adding a copy to your particular shipment would have cost us more than that amount, we didn't include it. It's nothing personal!
Ah-ha! So I was on a list! The list of people it was too expensive to ship too! :tinfoil:
No worries folks. I've already shared my copy of PoW with two other folks already.

I bet I didn't get one! So the Hamilton Public Library in New Zealand misses out!
I hope I get the bookmark though.
