Mmmmm.....coffee

Scarab Sages

Now there's a post I never thought I'd type.

Scarab Sages

Since my experience onbaord the good ship <redacted> recently, I've developed a newfound appreciation for coffee. So much so that I've decided to give it a try as a regular morning drink here at work, vice the Dr. Pepper I usually start my day with. The goal is to cut down big time on my soda (and the accompanying sugar) intake. I'd already cut them out at home for the most part.

Yesterday was a rousing success - one cup of coffee in the morning, a baby gatorade at lunch, and water in between. And I don't think I nodded off at my desk once.

Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

All right, that's a short, but wonder-filled miniblitz. Gotta get going. Phone calls to make. Problems to brief people over. The usual.

Scarab Sages

gets handed an orifice plate without a hole drilled in the middle

So THAT'S why we've been having all those problems with the hotel piping!

I haven't gotten a spring project yet which is a problem for me, but I've been very busy IRL any way.

I'm still hoping to get to Paizocon, but the finances will be more challenging without any work between now and then.

My father's health is worrying me, but he's 88. What can I say?

I have some good family news, but I'm not sure it's something I can put on the boards yet.

The grand kids are doing well.

Diane and I are hanging in there.

I hope every one is doing well.

No offense to anyone in the political threads, but I just don't have the time to engage right now. I might make an effort later, but it may be several more weeks before I can spend any real time on the boards.

Y'all take care! :D

EDIT: I also got to go to my first Gwar concert in Boulder this weekend. ;)

GWAR! \m/O.O\m/

Not that I'll have anything to do with culinary education, but you hit the nail on the head concerning my cynicism of going back to school to incur debt and the wages you get out of it doesn't even make it worthwhile.

Except that those who are hiring demands that 'paper' from you before they even give you a chance. And then lowball you. While ignoring the fact that I already have over a decade in-the-field experience versus in-the-classroom.

It's Ghoul who I really want to see on that line-up. I'd really like to see GWAR as they're coming through Columbus, but it's the day after the Overkill show and I tend to be inclined toward attending shows where I'm friends with the promoter and thus bypass the price of admission. That's essentially a no-brainer for me given my unemployment status. :)

Ass, grass, or gas. No one sees the concert for free. And since you don't have any money for gas or grass...

YEOUCH! :p

Orders placed, new stuff from the AVN show received, floors swept, now what to do?

Is she? ‘Cos if she is, then no, that’s not cynical.

I don't know, its a working theory.....

I love my coffee in the morning. I get quite mean when I don't has it. :D

I have laid off the full sugar sodas, dropped a bit of weight from it, but I still enjoy my diet sodas, or Zero's, or maxx's, or whatever else they wanna call em.

Hullo aeglos and FAWTL-crew.

Anyone know a good way of breaking out of spring-related fatigue? I've not been able to get anything beyond the bare necessities done for over three weeks, and missing the Wayfinder deadline really hurt (as does sleeping 10-12 hours a day until I've gotten a new bed, for that matter).

Urinsane wrote:

I'm guessing it involves those things that Solnes sells in her store ... since this particular promoter is female. And German.

Achtung!

OUCH.

Hot shower, herbal tea, and make sme kind of plans. be a tourist for a day, or just get out and drive. Works for me.

I probably won't give soda up completely, but I was drinking too much of it: usually about 2 cans a day all during the work week, then at least one 20 oz on the weekend.

Mmm...these go picnic things are actually pretty yummy. :)

Hope y'all are having a good day. I'm doing some frantic last minute studying before stepping into the testing center to take a chem exam.

Ahhh. Spring. 70 degree weather, flowers, trees are budding and ... SNOW?!?!

2 a day is too much?! Oh boy, I have two before noon usually. I'll drink about 5 cans a day during the work week and then usually nothing but coffee and soda on the weekends. Kinda why I switched to the coke zero or pepsi max. I do enjoy iced tea or flavored waters, but I hate just plain water. I think it stems from my childhood. Nothing but beer and water in the fridge :S

Mmmmm Yogurt...

I've been trying to limit myself to one soda a day. Had to give up the diet soda cause it triggers sugar cravings like you wouldn't believe. Flavored mineral water helps. And tea, unsweetened of course. :)
(Can't help it, I'm a northerner, I never put sugar in my tea.)

I'm thinking of joining a gym. I dropped some of the weight I needed to, now I need to tone whats left. I don't mind being a lil soft, but... yeah. I need to work on my thighs and arms and baby bump.

Ugh, so bitter that way.

I don't really get any sort of sugar cravings from the diet sodas. if I am craving something sweet you can bet its my time of the month :P

Mmmmm Yogurt...

I used to hate yogurt when I was a kid. I now find that I love it, especially the Yoplait. Low or no fat of course :P

I have french onion soup and a whole wheat bagel for lunch. :D

Good luck with the chem test Lyn!

Thinking of dying my hair. I went back to my natural brunette for a while now. Maybe time for something new? What do you guys think? Blonde? Red? A mix of?

Have you ever had cream and sugar in coffee, and the preparer
called the order sweet and blond?

Yeah. I usually order my coffee light and sweet instead of cream and sugar. If I say light and sweet they make it extra cream and sugar. :)

Hubby says hi. :D

I think the sugar cravings are related to the hormonal imbalance issues. Anyways, giving up artificial sweetener helped and I've been starting to try and use cinnamon as a sweetener to cut back on sugar even more. Diabetes runs in my family so sugar intake is something I worry about.

And if the tea tastes bitter it was brewed too long. This is why I can't drink sun tea. That crap tastes like weak coffee. Blech. :)

I love using cinnamon. Cinnamon sticks are awesome for sweetening/flavoring.

I like sun tea! :)

go picnic

Basically it's a healthy lunch in a small convenient package that fits easily in my backpack. A real lifesaver on long school days when the junk food is oh so tempting.
