The Vagrant Erudite – you can know your child is sick only 20 min before. Case in point:

I ate cream puffs that had gone bad in the morning for breakfast, but didn’t notice that they had gone bad (probably was too sleepy, since it was 6 am).

So I was fine, then about 2 hours in school, started feeling very, very sick, and puking out, as well as having a terrible stomachache. I had to make an emergency call to my mom, and then she had to pick me up from school since I was in no condition to make it back on my own.

So yes, you can get cases that your child is sick and you only find out 20 min before gametime.

And kids/family before gaming. I’ve told my online gaming group before – nadda sorry, I can’t play this week because I’m baby sitting my nephew.

Tequilia Sunrise: Hope you get well soon!

Case in point part 2:

Singapore education system is a meat grinder. So if you miss classes, its very hard for you to catch up. The school also does not accept parents letters, so you need to go to the doctor to get a medical certificate. Going to a doctor can be quite expensive.

So me, being the hardworking kitty, generally, even if I am sick, will tell my parents I’m not that sick that I can’t go to school and still go to school. Sometimes, I underestimate on how sick I really am and try to tough it out, and it worsens to the point I need to go to the Sick Bay at school. When that happens – it ends up as an emergency call to parents to pick up the sick kitty in question.

Case in point Part 3:

I did not know I had an allergy to turpentine. So when I started helping out painting a banner (the solvent to wash brushes clean was turpentine) and broke out in hives. Thankfully it was just an itchy mess and nothing too debilitating. So I finally admitted I had a problem (I didn’t want to admit it earlier because I was afraid people would think I was trying to skive), and just walked myself home.

Think on what might have happened if it was a more serious reaction causing breathing difficulties etc?

The most obvious would be a call to parents…and to the hospital.

And of course, you never know you have allergies until it smacks you in the face.

So yes, you can find out you have a sick kid 20 min before game time.

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and see if it happens again. If it happens too many times then just tell them that their schedules in RL are not conducive for Pathfinder.

After two feedings and a week of maturation, the sourdough starter smells incredible and I have begun the process of making a loaf of bread. I don't want to wait 3+ hours to eat it. Damn the necessity of a 1 hour rise, punch down and shape and rise another hour, followed by an hour of baking. And then the hardest part, letting it cool down just enough that you can eat it without burning yourself.

But at least I have strawberry jam, blackberry preserves, and honey to put on it. I had none of them last week and had to make do with just butter. Oh, the humanity!

Bread can be an incredible pain in the ass to bake, mainly because of the time it takes to rise, but if done right it is soooooo goooooooddddddd. I guess you could use a bread machine with a timer to help with the time issue, but I think the non-machine bread is better. Of course, I haven't had bread from a bread machine in like 15 years or so, so maybe they're better now. Not that they were bad before.

Bread is a lot of work. I can't imagine kneading dough for an hour... Too small. Not to mention I don't have the patience to wait for the fermentation and rising. I suggest some hearthstone while you wait. Maybe complete dungeon run with a Hunter. Yeah I know, excuses, excuses. And good bread can be eaten on its own.

The funny thing about strawberry preserves, blackberry preserves, and honey? At the end of the day I'd still have spread butter on my bread. I feel that bread should be eaten savory and not sweet. Besides I'm a s*cker for butter. Keep trying to find excuses to eat it.

I'd probably cut the bread into small cubes, mix with rosemary, salt and olive oil, then bake it till crispy. Then take out and nom!

I do not knead fresh bread that much.

I only knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, and use a stand mixer with a dough hook to do it. I've done it by hand plenty of times in the past, but I prefer the mixer. And I like bread with just butter on it, if the bread is still warm and fresh. Otherwise, I like something sweet. Just don't put butter and jam on the bread at the same time. I hate that.

Now, peanut butter and jam, yes please.

There may have been some of the other thing, but it definitely didn't involve the starter.

So, Friday morning. Yesterday a half-day at work was exhausting, and I ended up having to lie down for the entire afternoon. Today I woke up at 99.3 anyway, so still quarantined through today and tomorrow. That's 5 games canceled so far thanks to this darned "flu" thing.

Where did I put my wand of Remove Disease?

NH:

remove disease

School conjuration (healing); Level alchemist 3, cleric/oracle 3, inquisitor 3, druid 3, ranger 3, witch 3; Subdomain restoration 2

Not on paladin spell list anyway. You'd need to UMD it, besides the caster level check would be only 5.
