Thanks Taig, I was too shy to make that post.

Happy Mother's Day to FAWTL mothers everywhere. Young Rumnaheims are making pancakes for Mrs. Rumnaheim right now. Then it's breakfast outside on our patio.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Sunday and Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

Love Ikea and Aldi the only shops I know where I can buy a bed and rollmops or A chainsaw and bratwurst.

I did not know that Aldi expanded to Australia. wow

The Aldi Brothers (Karl and Theodor Albrecht)are the richest Germans, by the way. They never appear in public and no picture of them exist

In the States, they are kind of niche. There is also a store called Trader Joe's which is operated under the Aldi company.

FHDM will attest that I will toast my Haterade to the waste of real estate that is Trader Joe's.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Some day I'd really like to be able to predict when my router and my computer(s) are happy to be working together.

Aw man. Sometimes 71 years just aren't long enough. Time to break out the Otis Redding, Dan Penn, and Booker T and the MGs records.

Now I want to make an npc sitting on the dock of bay...

Nothing like furry badgah manhood to say Happy Mother's Day!

Why the Trader Joe's hate, CH? I'm curious. I live next door to one so I shop there frequently, but I will admit that it is not the best if it's your only grocery store. It does however have the best selection of lactose-free items in town for the cheapest prices (like half the cost of the other grocery stores) which makes me happy.

Don't forget his classic stint in the Blues Brothers!. And his one great line: "We had a band powerful enough to turn goat piss into gasoline."

RIP man

Kinda curious as well. I like my local one, which usually has local-sourced items. I am well and truly tired of Stop and Shop.

My son woke me up this morning with an edible arrangments bouquet with a balloon tied on top. And he wrote a poem on the card all by himself that was so sweet it made me cry. :)

In a little while we're going to go to the art museum and then later on dinner at Addis Ababa (It's an Ethiopian restaurant.)

Spoiler:
Hopefully won't be too stressful of a day. Mother's day is rough here since both my mom and my mother-in-law are deceased. It's hard not to think about missing them on mother's day. I think this year is especially rough on my youngest sister since it was supposed to have been her first mother's day and isn't. :(

I have borne witness to the purity of his hate for Trader Joe's. It is inspiring, but it's where my wife and I go for cheap wine and surprisingly good sake...

It is almost sad to think that Kingmaker is nearly over. It has been an interesting year and a half.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY LYNORA!!!

Spoiler:
I'm sorry for your losses. This is a day to celebrate the lives of those we have lost in addition to what your special little guy goes for you. Know that my thoughts are with your sister at this rough time.

It was an interesting Kingmaker Saturday yesterday. Almost alllllll roleplaying. Spoilers ahead.

Spoiler:
I took an interesting twist with Grigori and made him an investigative reporter, who put out a rag called the Verlundian Voice. Any time I rolled Public Scandal, it would always be an article about something the party did in Brevoy that was embarrassing. Usually sexual stuff(heh) with bad pictures(black bar over the eyes to "protect the people's privacy") and sketchy accounts from eyewitnesses. The thing is, the PCs have always rolled NATURAL 20s when in this situation, to the point that one of the PCs is essentially an elven Bill Clinton. When one of the PCs(a long time and prudish friend[to the point that her presence should do me some type of physical harm], who would NEVER do anything like this in real life) knocked up an Issian girl(she also rolled a natural 20 to handle the unrest, saying that the casual encounter was a thing of beauty being made horrible by a poorly written article and invited the girl to the kingdom to live with[if not marry] him), the PCs did an investigation that lead to Grigori panicking, and starting a fire in his shop that lead to him being arrested and executed for arson. The PCs did a good job handling the execution, as the evidence was sketchy and Grigori was doing a good job of using magic to attempt to influence first the PCs(ONE guy made his save otherwise this would have ended differently) and then the crowd. It was a great game yesterday.

Because when I buy food, I usually try to buy fresh. In the area of meat and seafood in particular, Trader Joe's = frozen. Everything is prepackaged/canned/frozen, and the selection is painfully limited. Every time I have ever gone, they have not carried what I was looking for.

The last time I tried to put together a meal there, I was looking for:

Fish
Capers
Potatoes
Olives
A vegetable for sauteeing

I left with a package of broccolini and a can of olives and then went to another store.

Edit: For the record, I'm not a particularly big fan of Stop and Shop. Damn I miss Wegmans.

I recall a minister telling me that Mothers Day was one of the most difficult days to sermonize, because everyone comes to it with their own history. Some, like you have mentioned, are grieving for their mothers, some wish they were mothers but are not, some are estranged from their mothers, or had painful relationships. It can be challenging.

I hope you are able to celebrate your own motherhood and honor those who can't be with you. *hugs*

positive waves to Lynora,
I hope you enjoy the day despite that

That sounds delicious. Actually, I think that has provided some cooking inspiration as well.

I'm trying so hard to eat healthier. Yesterday's game had peanuts, strawberries, raisins, dates, dried papaya, fresh breads and cheese in place of chips. We don't order out anymore, which helps. Edit--can't forget the veggies with dip.

Hmmm...Mothers' Day. My wife will be spending most of it traveling home. Our kids seem like they could care less about the day. I'm whooped from the projects I took on this weekend. I'm saddened by how little my grown children do around the house of a positive nature. It also seems like only me and my dog miss my wife.

Oh well, I will go visit my 90 yo mother then I'll feel better. I'm also calling it quits on the project list for the day so I can relax.

Hugs to all you Moms out there. You work your butts off with little appreciation.

I haven't looked at this thread for 5 days and there are 1000+ posts to read! I'm not sure when i'll get to that so a big Happy Mother's Day to everybody!

On a personal note, I finally got a job this past week although it's a temp position but hopefully it will turn into a something more. Worst case scenario is that it will look really good on my resume when I look again. We'll see...

My players had an insane idea: running Kingmaker around a group with a Master of the House mentality.

I'm very curious about how much of a lovely trainwreck it would be....
