Ha!
I approve of this post.

Bah! My fellow Amerifawtlies will throw old hotdogs and rotten apple pies at me, but if the Queen gave me the nod (and a job), I'd yank my doodle out in a dandy and pop right across the pond to Mother Britannia. Strooth.

Looking good that the family and I will be at PaizoCon this year. Although from the hotel discussion looks like we will have to squeeze into a room with a king size bed and roll away. And banquet tickets are gone :( Unfortunately, I was not in a position to buy tickets until now. Thank you new job.

I bought myself Space Battleship Yamato from the DVD shop the other day... It was ok, a little too much exposition and conversation and not enough action.
I bought it because as a kid we used to watch Starblazers...

We briefly thought about driving, but if we buy tickets soon we will be able to fly.

Yeah, we just behave badly when we visit. Oh and export our crappiest tv shows to them and then laugh when they like them.
Australians make TV shows? Since when? ;) See I could make a list of BBC shows that are or were worth watching. Some of them only a single series worth which blows my mind but hey FOX canceled Firefly so anything is possible. Oh and there is what a single Canadian TV series despite the export for years of quality actors, or well actors, um guys who played on Star Trek.

No part of me is descended from the English, why should I care what the Queen nods at?

Morning FAWTLY Folk! Charlie had a good night, although mom had to get up to feed him around 0430 to try and put him back to sleep a bit longer. And, since I'm feeling 100% better today, it's back to work. But we've got a three day weekend coming up! Huzzah for President's Day!
Do president's brains taste the same as everyone else's? Or, do they just give you gas and leave you wanting?

One of their few wise moves over the years. Also, I heard that Australian version of ER was awesome.

Don't forget the Flying Doctors (or, wait, that one was actually quite good), which I know was shown in Germany since we watched an episode or two there in 1992 or '97 (laughing a bit at the occasional huge disconnect between the German voice-actors' voice and that of the actual aussie actors').

Economics
Margin Call tries to make clear the reason for the problems at Unnamed Investment Bank, but whenever someone starts getting into the details it sounds like: "Well, sir, we're now leveraged up to our historical volatility index limits, and if you cross the streams in the flux capacitor Skynet will become self-aware at 2.14am Eastern Time." At least, that's what I wrote in my notes. I may have drifted off for a minute. So impossible is it to set out what's going on without immediately boring and confusing the audience that both Paul Bettany and Kevin Spacey have to ask Peter to explain it "in English". Finally they summon the big boss, John Tuld (Jeremy Irons), whose name hints that he may be based on real-life former Lehman CEO Dick Fuld. "Speak as you might to a small child," Tuld tells Peter. "Or as you would to a golden retriever." Unfortunately, it turns out that even faced with a golden retriever Peter would yammer on about things like trading security, product layering and market capitalisation. Maybe he's a cat person.

Responsibility
Perhaps no feature-length film can hope to convey what happened at Lehman Brothers, which was sufficiently complex to fill nine volumes of a court examiner's report in 2010. Margin Call manages to get it across that Unnamed Investment Bank has bought too many subprime mortgage assets and those have now turned out to be toxic, but it underplays the crisis in the rest of the banking sector at the time. Nor does the human drama ever hit the high pitch it needs, bearing in mind that this film has no sex, no violence, no explosions and no velociraptors – even though just a couple of those released into the boardroom would really have livened things up. It's just a lot of obscenely rich people standing around wearing suits, looking mildly disgruntled because they've just broken the world. Historically speaking, of course, this is realistic.[/b]

Voice-over actors crack me up. The best was when I was in Quebec and I saw an episode of the Simpsons translated into French. Marge sounded like some sort of elderly Parisian prostitute.

Yeah, but being a finance-related thing, you know even the most ardent attempts at humor can still draw the politrolls like flies on shit. Best to keep it out of here and sequestered in places that can be hidden away.

I'm sorry man. Salary questions asked at the interview level may become illegal one day, I heard somewhere.
I just hope I didn't low-ball my salary requirements. I found out that the maximum salary available for the position is about 80% higher than what I requested. Salary questions are a trap...

Twas skynet becoming self aware, dood. I didn't see anything political about it.

And speaking of the Simpsons
my favorite are the x-files episode and Lisa becoming vegeterian
