What a gorgeous November morning in Texas! Went for a walk with my wife now its time to get ready and run some errands.

Edit: The temperature is perfect even for nekkid posting. But, I better put clothes back on before my errands :(

Glad you weren't seriously injured in your accident Jess. Stinks about the car damage. Take care.

+1 to the Zero power.

Yeah, mine sounds like less but the values are the same.

Seriously, though, glad you are doing okay, Jess.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Silver Crusade

I got a coupon from my favorite French restaurant in NYC. Free glass of wine. Still hella expensive. But I like getting coupons.

Yesterday was Kingmaker Saturday. The game is going in a decidedly roleplaying heavy direction. Also DID NOT LIKE the way Vordekai was put together.

Spoiler:
Most disappointing almost-lich ever. Would have gone with a different monster, as all you needed to succeed against him was a few good Will saves. Also, once the PCs started to affect his stats, it was basically chopping down a tall tree. The fights with the trolls and spriggans was more serious.

I have been enjoying...a car accident.

Look, when I said I wanted a new car end of the year, I didn't mean I wanted the old one destroyed!

*sigh*

I am fine, just a bit sore. I figure anytime you can walk away from a three car wreck "a bit sore" is pretty good, all things considered. Nobody needed transport to the hospital. Now I wait to find out what the judgement is on the car.

*double sigh*

Jess, what's important is that you are alright. How did this accident happen? Do you foresee an easy settlement with insurance company?

Glad you're okay Jess. Sorry about your car. And a +1 to what someone else said about whiplash. The pain often doesn't hit until after the adrenaline wears off.
And good luck with dealing with the insurance bureaucracy and the whole process of getting a new car.

Yay. :)

It's the little things. Well, I guess technically the machine isn't a little thing, but the refillable filter cups are....

what is a refillable filter cup?

I have a Keurig coffee maker, which normally uses K-cups - small plastic containers filled with enough coffee grounds for about 1 cup. You can get k-cup packs in various sizes, though usually see packs of 12. The Keurigs make one cup at a time.

Anyway, you can get a refillable cup, so that you can put your own coffee in it, especially if it's one of the rare kinds of coffee that don't already come in a k-cup.

Good to know. I'm always shaky with building boss monsters, and now I've got an example of what not to do.

Good to hear you're alright, Jess. Here's hoping fixing the car won't be too expensive.

Why did weekend have to end?

Right there with you, bro.I was tempted to have him become a recurring villain, but I really don't like those in my games due to some shenanigans that occurred in an old 2nd ed game back in high school.

I realize I hold over a lot from days long past, but I view it more as learning what doesn't work for me as a DM and a player moreso than demanding adventure writers stop doing what I don't like. I save that for math-philes and Whedon fans. ;-)

If there's anybody I always rebuild when running a pre-made campaign, it's boss monster Mages. At the least their spells and feats tend to need some tweakage.

I'm going to have to revamp pretty much every boss monster for my group simply because they're ahead of the expected leveling curve.

You don't have to do that; I'm ok with curbstomping.

Spoiler:

I added an anti-paladin grave knight to the encounter. He needed a brute to run a few rounds of interference to allow him to get his spells off. It made the fight a good challenge. Vordekai's biggest weakness is versus paladins, so the anti-paladin was a perfect foil for that weakness. Our paladin was killed by the antipaladin, and a Use Magic Deviced Breath of Life scroll brought her back, and she proceeded to kill Vordekai while the party ran interference with the anti paladin. It was a truly epic boss fight.

thanks for the well wishes, guys. We'll see what happens with regard to the car.

24 hours after the accident, I have some soreness in my shoulder from the seatbelt and a bruise on my knee, along with some minor general soreness, about at the level of how you feel a day after working out a half hour longer than usual. All in all, not bad. And my friends tell me I'm no stranger than normal, so hopefully there's no undiagnosed closed head injury. ;)

Start worrying when your friends will tell you that you now act mundane. ;)

Damn, it's raining again. I don't want to spend cash on tram tickets when going to Dark Heresy session but walking hour in rain is not a thing I'd like to do either. :(

Glad to hear that it's only minor injuries Jess. Hope it all goes away soon & the money comes in from the insurance is prompt without hassle.

Is there anything better than the first sip of coffee on a monday morning?

To crush your enemies, drive them before you, and hear the lamentations of their women?

...Nah, if I drank it, I'd take the coffee too.

I've cut down on drinking coffee after hearing over and over about health hazards.

Also, I'm honestly surprised that I'm actually awake even though I slept far too little last night.

I have found that I drink no coffee on the weekends. And really it doesn't seem to have that much of an effect on me anyway.

Yes, there will be lots of things better...

I only drink coffee on Dark Heresy sessions. I.e. today, later. I don't even keep coffee at home.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Like the Metal festival I went to on Saturday; Doomy & Black Metal galore. \m/ one of the best/consistant line-ups.

Witch Sorrow, Wodens Throne, Winterfelleth, Vried, Primordial then My Dying Bride (a high-light of an amazing day) and finally Electric Wizard - 90 minutes of concussive waves of noise that I felt to the pit of my stomach and the smell of weed washing across the audience.

I never drank coffee until I was 40. Now, I can't keep count of how much I coffee I drink. I think it's a better caffeine delivery method than pop (soda) however.

I started just back at the end of March, not long before I turned 40. I drink a cup or two at work each day and (typically) a cup each morning on the weekend. This has enabled me to vastly reduce the amount of soda I drink, while still giving me my caffeine boost.
