Speaking of food (as ya’ll were ... like two days ago ...) we are really fortunate in Sydney to have lots of places to get really good, really authentic (and some not so authentic) Asian cuisine of various types – Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese (of various stripes), Malay, Vietnamese, Indian, Nepalese, Mongolian, Singaporean ... you name it you can find a place that does it well in Sydney. We have some good European and Middle Eastern places too (Italian, French, Greek, Turkish, Persian, some but not as much Spanish and German). I ... don’t think we do Tex Mex, Cajun, Creole or anything much really from the Americas that well (that I am aware of).

There was a Cajun restaurant in Crows Nest... I dont know if its still there....

I was into cooking Cajun food at one stage, after my adventures into Spanish and before my Moroccan period.....

Tell you what... if I still have a Square Bear of Bundy Rum laying about I will make you some Bananas Foster one game night. 5 table spoons of Dark Rum (I usually put in 8-10) 4 (6-8) table spoons of Banana flavoured liquor - a cup of brown sugar, some cinnamon, nutmeg, 6 table spoons of butter, some bananas a frying pan and ice-cream when you plate it up.

Shadow Lodge

Urgh.

Well, the birthday was decent. Took the day off work and just chilled with the dog. +1 to Moorluck's sentiments on having internet friends. Tons of well wishes from others. It makes up a bit for one's grown kids caring less about the occasion, other than 'where are you taking us for dinner on your bday?' Mrgh. Sure doesn't help me getting past feeling like the invisible man, but it wasn't a totally gloomy day.

Silver linings to be had for others - My 26yo son met a new girl after his long term break up. He's not rushing into anything, but it makes him feel a lot better about himself. Hopefully our young FAWTLies find the same reassurance.

My daughter's back up plan for college is a good one. They are offering a couple scholarships, plus more financial aid than we need. It's cheaper than UofM and she has more than a few friends already going there. We believe that she may have a better chance of success there, plus my wife was dicey on the Air Force thing.

Trying to convince my 22yo son to transfer schools and finish his bachelor's degree. He seemed to take to heart my point that any degree is better than none, and not to stress over it.

Happy Taco Tuesday!

No donut baking for the foreseeable future. I got switched back to straight serving until my boss can replace a worker. Good for me, I can lounge in bed till the absurd hour of 4am! Such indolence!

Well, Scott's visit to the local shipyard took a disasterous turn when the facility was attacked by a giant, mutant seahorse. Meanwhile, Steven's drunken caterwauling and acts of vandalism earned him a night in the drunk tank at the police station. And, across town, several security measaures were put into effect at the local dump after.....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

There's no backwards Hell in Las Vegas. You can find anything to eat in Las Vegas, and I mean anything.

I have heard it was fast food hell out there.

Fast Food Hell? Nah, just need to find the right spot. A lot of Ma and Pa shots closed when the economy did the downward spiral. But Vegas has it all and can feed any man, woman, and child.

...and zombie too if the apocalypse is just right.

I'm sure you can get it, but it's hard to find and I'm not sure how good / authentic it would be.

Would not Vegas be a good regrouping spot after the initial onslaught of the neardead or reborn?
