Just awful CJ! I wish you the best during this very tough time.

So sorry, CJ.

Me too CJ. I will send good vibes and prayers your way.

That really sucks CJ, what is FMLA?

Liberty's Edge

Glad to hear that your step daughter is ok Gruumash. PLEASE tell me she was not texting whilst driving with a child in the car.

I would win. Because you're a luddite who just won't traverse certain places.

I know no bounds.

FHDM + Alton Brown + Joss Whedon = Lemon Party.

Scared?

Me? Naw. Hell, thoughts like that keep me warm at night, so long as I'm the one doing the...ah...lemoning.

Something tells me either you don't know exactly the reference or you've learned a lot on your second evening job.

Are debt collectors allowed to call my work?
To the best of my knowledge yes. Unfortunately.
~curses` I hate my ex- and I hate her kids!

Not sure how it is in Georgia, but I know in Ohio that you can specifically inform them not to contact you at work and they have to abide by not calling you through that contact. That would be something you'd document.

If the debt is at least 7 years old, you can tell them to f#@k off; make sure that it doesn't show on your credit report. Contest it.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! The sun is shining, the air is a bit warmer, so here's hoping it'll be a beautiful day for all of us. Although, I do think we're supposed to get some rain here in Philly later.

Scarab Sages

Wow, we're almost to work already. Not much traffic this morning.

On the other hand, poor Charlie had a rough night. His nose is all stuffy, making to hard to breath and causing him to cough a lot. So he did not sleep well.

Working today Moorluck? If so, then I hope that it goes well.

Tax return finally hit. Now to pay off the bill that my ex-'s son left me, pay the car insurance, pay the AC guy to replace the cooler motor part of my AC unit, put some in savings, and then hand the rest to Karen. ~sighs~ It goes so quickly.

The Exchange

Ayup, getting ready to walk out the door now. But I wanted to leave you folks with a joke.

What do you call a cross dressing dinosaur?

Spoiler:
A Trannysaurus.

:P

Crimson Jester, I really hope that today goes reasonably well for you. My best wishes and good vibes are heading your way.

Scarab Sages

Ooookay....welll, although my day started off OK, we got to work and then I realized I had left my badge holder at home, along with my door badge (to get into the buidling) and my CAC (to log onto my computer). So, I had to take the wife's keys and drive back home, then back here. Ugh.

Obviously you skipped your morning brains.

Also my Anniversary. 1st and 4th at the same time. Feels like I am playing football.

Getting the house (read apartment) painted for our first real anniversary today.

Spoiler:
Butted heads with the wife a bit early on, but after a lamp I owned from my childhood shattered on her apparently invincible boobs and I was almost slain by an errant piece of wall that landed right in my mouth, we discussed, made up, and are waiting for the paint to dry. Ah, adventures in marriage...

Happy anniversary, CJ. I am glad that the tax return showed up. PUT AWAY most of it so you have it when you need it.

Cj, you got married on leap day too? That's fawsome!

Freehold DM, when you are done, you can come over and paint my house. The kittens find it funny to claw at the wall and peel the paint off.

Well this is interesting weather we are having... It rained half the night and snowed the other half. So we did not get the foot or more of snow they did north of us, we did get ice covered snow.

We did our taxes this weekend and discovered we owe $3000. Oops.

Ouch! That sucks taig.

Silver Crusade

Yikes. Sorry to hear that Taig.

I finally got all my paperwork together and over to the person (friend of the family) who will be preparing my taxes. I have high hopes - since my partner was out of work for all of 2011, I am claiming him as a dependent, but my withholdings are only for a single person. I could use a good refund.

I hate to do the tax report and always keep from it until the last moment. It is a very complivated thing over here.
But I get a huge repayment every year (we get part of the gasoline tax for the drive to work back and I have a long drive)

My basement cat likes to pick a doorway jamb. He focuses on it, wiggles his butt, then runs at it full speed. When he gets close, he jumps as high as he can, claws extended, and wraps his legs around the door jamb. Then he slowly falls, claws digging into the wall and jamb, until he hits the floor.

Why oh why do I still insist on being a gentleman to women, when I am not interested in courting them. I still open doors for them, I still push in there chairs at the dinner table. I guess it's just hardwired into my brain.

A gentleman is a gentleman regardless. I hold doors open for men as well as women.

I do to, and I always say "Thank you," when someone holds the door open for me. It's funny when I get annoyed looks from men when I hold the door for them, though.

Heh. Or confused ones. They don't quite know what to say. :)

Women on the other hand are weird. Some of them just glare at you like you're doing something wrong if you hold the door for them. Although the ones that glare will usually glare at men for holding the door for them too. I just don't get what's wrong about being helpful. :)

I am taking today completely off. No projects. No homework. Just painting. It's nice to see some progress on the artwork that's been sitting around waiting for color for weeks. :)

Nothing wrong with that Jeremy. Keep up the good work it is nice to know that I am not the only one out there doing it. In my family we have a competitions when a lady gets up and give the ones who forget to stand or are talking and don't notice a hard time all in good fun but it is a practice which we have kept alive and well and I think it is a grand thing.

Swedish door holding etiquette: First person through holds it open, and the people who has it held up for them says "tack." Glares are only given if you don't hold it open. ;)

Booo!

Spoiler:
I don't know your situation, but if you need to go out on FMLA, that's a federal law and your employer doesn't get to wily-nily decide whether to approve or not. Again, I don't know your situation, but if you're getting shiznit-canned from something good because of legitimate medical reasons, you may have options for legal recourse.
