I'm hoping for New Hampshire, but Upstate New York is a possibility.
New Hampshire has a TERRIBLE public school system, so if you've got school-age kids, probably not such a good idea. And if you need any tips on where to go in upstate New York, I can give you the straight scoop on just about any town north of Albany.

Nope, my daughter was already failed by the terrible Massachusetts public school system, so no worries there. We are done with school-age junk. As for where to go, it will depend on what region my wife inherits. I'll keep ya posted, but it wont be for a while.

EDIT: AND CONGRATS! MAZELTOV! May you have many happy years together.

Meh. Even Danny Boyle has to fail from time to time.

Whom?

This is a strictly Paizo-only announcement for now, since we're not going to tell her family for another few weeks at least, but still...

Congratulations!

Normally I might say 'run', but it's probably already too late. You're doomed.

Dude you never ask a girlfriend to marry you, the relationship is over no matter what she says. If she says no, then it's done, if she says yes then all the fun stuff is done. You're screwed either way. ;)

Seriously though, congrats Shiny!

Happy Shrove Tuesday all!

I hope everyone enjoys their, uh, Shroves. Shroving? Aren't pancakes involved?

I'm so confused.

Me too! That's what I get for buying Scottish almanacs.

And gah. Working a double-shift seems to have made me skip going to sleep and instead enter deranged mind territory.

In honor of my boy's birthday and Mardi Gras - time for a mini-blitz!

It's weird thinking that Charlie has been with us for an entire year already. It seems like just yesterday I was holding him for the first time.

I bought him some really cool presents (which he hasn't received yet) - A Little People Batcave with Batman and Robin, and A Little People figure set with Superman and Green Lantern.

Also, a pillow version of Captain America.

Interestingly enough, Little People are a lot bigger than they were when I was a kid.

My parent's still have a bunch of those toys that were ours. There're a couple of play sets that the grandkids all get to use.

Scarab Sages

His mommy got him books.

As for Mardi Gras - I used to love going to parades. My aunt road in the Krewe of Venus for 25 years before the group closed down in protest of some crap from the New Orleans city council. That was several years back.

Scarab Sages

When I was a kid, each year for Venus and Thoth (always on a Sunday), we'd go down to a particular spot early in the day. We'd have peanuts to snack on, occasionally get some cotton candy, and mom would usually make some sandwichs for lunch.

When my aunt's float finally came along, we'd pay the driver to stop right in front of us for a few minutes.

Good times.

Scarab Sages

Mardi Gras day was almost always spent in Metaire, since my dad's cleaners was on the other side of the highway from the parade route. That way we always had a bathroom to use. And if it was cold, we had someplace warm to go.

When I was in college, for several years I'd go with friends downtown. The parent's of one of the guys had an apartment overlooking the parade route, not far from Lee Circle. Saw lots of boobage.

Again, good times.

Scarab Sages

I also spent more than one or two days on Bourbon Street.

Very interesting sights.

Bacon fact of the day: JoeDoe, a small restaurant in New York City, features a sandwich called The Conflicted Jew": chopped liver, bacon, and onion on a challah roll.

Scarab Sages

I find myself really not wanting to be at work today. As is, the wife and I plan on only doing a 7.5 hour day. Maybe less. We've got some extra time built up from last week.

I'm so confused.

Shrove, to confess. It was the day to get your confession out of the way before tomorrow, Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season.

Pancakes, it was also the last day before dietary restrictions kicked in, therefore being the last day you could eat a pancake.

Pancake races, don't know if you have them elsewhere but we do in Kansas, a lady in England was trying to make her Shrove pancakes and almost missed church, she raced to church with the frying pan and a pancake in it. The rest... is history.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm....pancakes.

Scarab Sages

For Charlie's day today, I brought an assorted 50 count box of Dunkin Munchkins to his daycare. I brought a 25 box of just Glaze to work for myself.

I even shared a few of mine.

Aren't you proud of me?

For later tonight, we got him a birthday cake. We're going to cut it in half, and give him one half to tear into. I'm going to video tape that and put it on FB for all to see.

Scarab Sages

Last night, the wife fed him Jello. He liked it. Alot!

Scarab Sages

She never made me Jello.

*sniff*

Scarab Sages

I'm hoping we'll get to webcam with the grandparental units tonight. I know they'd all love to see Charlie on his birthday.

Scarab Sages

Maybe a bit of webcamming with my younger brother as well.

Next Sunday, we're taking Charlie to the circus. It'll be the first circus I've been to in over 30 years.

Scarab Sages

I think.

Scarab Sages

patiently waiting for an order to ship from Paizo

Scarab Sages

I get the feeling that someone is out there. Just. Waiting.

Scarab Sages

My wife was going to make two king cakes yesterday. One for each of us to bring to work. Sadly, she screwed the first one up. So I didn't get to bring one.

Scarab Sages

I've given up on that show The River. Still watching Alcatraz though.
