White Necromancer write up in KQ19 by Marc Radle.

I really didn't like it. It basically took a bunch of stuff that has always been considered evil in Pathfinder and declared "It's good, because a white necromancer is doing it." Then it made them spontaneous casters in utter defiance of their own backstory and cobbled together a bunch of random abilities that should have just been new spells.

That's my review in 3 sentences.

Yeah, 'good' necromancy makes no sense. Can Good characters dabble with such things, doing what they must under the most extreme circumstances? Sure. Can they commit their life to raising and controlling the dead and remain pure? Not so much. Don't care how you color it.

Then again, I also think all Drow are evil and there are a lot of cool races that just weren't meant to be used as PCs.

Hnn. I've changed necromancy to nigrimancy in my homebrew, and it's not just controlling the dead but curses and other things too. I did my best to make it more genuinely evil as opposed to stuff that was just vaguely unpleasant and considered evil largely due to sacred cow type stuff.

Yeah, Newbury Comics ain't goin' nowhere. I've got a bunch of friends that work/ed for them at all levels of staffing and they made a conscious decision around the time Pokemon got big to invest heavily in the collectible side of things--action figures, posters, t-shirts, whatever. They've made out pretty well over the years.

Still, you can walk into an average store and still find Big Black cds, Husker Du records and obscure Japanese films on DVD, although the closer you are to Boston, the better the selection.

And their clerks tend to be hot.

Come on in for a wicked good time!

Obscure Japanese stuff, eh?

Hm. May be time for a road trip.

Hi everyone,

tomorrow Christmas time starts for us here in Germany with the 1.Advent

Do you celebrate the 4 Advent Sundays in America?
Do you put a Advent wreaths with 4 candles and light another one each sunday?
Do you have a bowl of Walnuts and Oranges on the table next to a figure nutcracker?
Do you handicraft Christmas Tree decoration? (Some of my fondest childhood memories is making straw-stars and gold-nuts with my mum)
Do you have special food only available at this time like Christstollen, Dominosteine, Lebkuchen (Gingerbread?), Spekulatius, Zimtsterne, Glühwein (Mulled wine)
Do you bake Christmas Cookies with your kids? (Spritzgebackene, Buttergebackene, Ochsenaugen, Kokosmakronen, Anistaler, Vanillekipferl, Beetmännchen)
Do you have an Advent calender counting the days till Christmas?
Do you have Christmas Pyramids? Schwibbögen? Rauchmännchen?
Krippenspiele? (Nativity plays)
Christmas Markets?

You don't do Nikolaus on the 6th, don't you?
And you do celebrate Christmas on the 25th instead of the 24th, right?

1- I used to when I was more religious. Exclusively in church. I think they would make my jewish friends laugh if I did it at home.

2- We hang the wreaths on our front doors, the candles are exclusively a church things.
3- I haven't made my own christmas tree decors since I was a kid.
4- Yeah, lots of specific christmas type stuff. Eggnog, fruitcake, christmas cookies, gingerbread men, that kinda thing. There are a few other things. I recognize Stollen as a type of bread cake thing..Don't think I've had it though. Mulled wine is fine any time, though. ;-)
5- No kids yet, so no. Maybe if my nephew visits us from Cali?
6- They're available all over the place, if you look.
7- The closest thing is my wife's Christmastown- we didn't put it up last year, we'll be putting it up this year. Will put up pics later.
8- I have no idea what Christmas Market is.
9- Nikolaus on the 6th? No idea what that is. We celebrate Christmas on the 25th in my household, but many of my spanish/hispanic/latino friends insist on celebrating it on the 24th. Other cultures celebrate it on the 24 because they're in church all day on the 25th.

Well we're a little slow around here on the weekends, but hope you enjoy the madhouse. The only thing we ask is that everyone leave Politics, Religion, and other flammable topics in the other threads. I'm sure if you've read any of the 6+ FAWTL threads you can see we pretty much just bullshit and hang out here.

I wouldn't call it creepy that great minds think alike! ;-D

In my world, a wizard (or to a lesser extent, a sorcerer) would be viewed with only a nominal amount of suspicion for casting a spell that affected the undead to save lives- they would certainly be attacked if they were to be found trying to create their own undead army, however. It's a matter of degrees and intent that makes it evil, not necessarily just knowing a spell. And that's not even going into the overarching goal of true nigrimancy...
