I know we just went out for a quick supper and we saw 5 city buses on our walk and all of them were diesel electric hybrid city buses. What kinda hippie town did I move too?

We've got tons of those aroundabouts. One of them just clipped me, in fact. Where are you?

Glad to hear you survived your brush with Newtonian physics.

I'm 98% sure Whedon had something to do with this.

Hello all.

Mothman! How are you doing? Please regale us with your stories of winter. Since it is hot as sin here.

I'm ready to forgive Dave Gross now for having that chat thing on my first day back to school.

Heading out of a late night trip to Alternate Reality Comics to indulge myself. The fifth and final issue of Flashpoint is coming out as is the new Justice League number one by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.

I feel a nerd-gasm coming...

Liberty's Edge

Doing pretty well, although quite busy at work.

Winter is quite pleasant right at the moment - it is the last day of winter here today, and the weather is decidedly Spring-like (much to the dismay of one of my colleagues here who suffers from hayfever). It is somewhere around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius and the sun is shining.

(EDIT: replying to CJ, who knew that after an hour two people would post in the couple of minutes it took me to work out the current temperature?)

I'll gave the Wednesday special pastries ready for everyone in the early morning.

Plus hot coffee.

My son woke up about an hour and a half after he went to bed last night, complaining that his face hurt ... when he came downstairs we saw that the poor kid’s right eye and his lower lip were both horribly swollen. Seemed like an allergy of some type, but we couldn’t figure out to what, or why such a localised reaction. Gave him a dose of generic allergy medication and some children’s paracetamol and kept an eye on him for a while as he dozed on the couch. The swelling soon abated and he fell back asleep, so we put him back to bed, and by this morning there was no sign of any swelling or puffiness.

Still can’t figure out what caused it though.

We ate an old-timey LA diner. I've always wanted to. I had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit. I don't think I've had real fried chicken (non-fast food) in at least 15 years. It was tasty and fun, but I don't think my waistline could put up with that too often.

No, Whedon had an alibi as he was onset shooting Avengers today.

You need some authentic Southern fried chicken and waffles. Mmmmmmmmm...

You know, I like southern fried chicken, and I like waffles, but I don't like chicken and waffles together.

Ah, that brings back memories. I had a few strange allergic reactions to things in my household as a kid. Once or twice my eyes swole up so badly it looked like I had a full epicanthic fold. I so wanted to keep it, but my mom wouldn't have it and took me to the doctor. Not too many years ago, I had an allergic reaction to some meat buns that swole up one of my ears to twice it's normal size. Ah, allergies...

Well, I could be wrong. Whedon can't be everywhere, there's a chance it was Alton Brown, Mark Zuckerberg or a just plain old everyday accident.

I had that happen once while working. Something hit my eye, and I ballooned. Hours later the swelling went down and I was fine.

Bug bite? My daughter swells up from mosquito bites.

I don't want to creep you out or anything, but given that it hurt, was in two separate locations, and happened shortly after he went to bed, you should give his room (especially the bed) a good search for spiders or other biting vermin. You can also examine the areas that were swollen for two tiny red spots that might mark a bite area. Just sayin' - it's better to err on the side of caution with these things.

Tonight I attempt to introduce three new players to RPG/Pathfinder. All my players also get to meet Duke for the first time. He is my Sharpai/Chow mix that I adopted from a homeless animal shelter just 5 days ago. Seems like longer. Maybe it's the 5-6 am wakeup calls.

Cool! How old is Duke?

EDIT: I adopted a Chow/Malamute mix from the pound. He was one of the best dogs ever!

According to his paperwork he just turned 5.

Did you pick his name, or did he already have it?

We rescued a 3 yr old Husky in November. Didn't take her long to respond to a new name. It seems like we've had her for years. Quite happy. She's lazy but prone to sporadic bouts of energy, like us. :)

@E7,

That was his name when I got him. I figured that with him being 5 I would just keep his name he is used to. I like that he lets me know when ever anyone is near my apartment. I don't normally get up til about 9 or 10 but with him I have a standing 6 am wake up call for "Walkies!"
