Does anyone know anything about holiday trends and foreign calendars? I'm writing setting details for a homebrew that just happens to have 365.25 days per year. [Read: stuff my players will likely never ever care about ;)] I know that all cultures tend to have similar major holidays around the same times every year. (Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.) But I'm not much into holidays myself, and all I know is the Roman calendar.

A good place to start is the Jewish Calendar. Each holiday, corresponds to an event.

One thing holidays across cultures seem to be attached to is heavenly events. Especially equinoxes and solstices. Most other holidays seem to be very culture specific.

Did the pet shop finally go out of business? Did we finally put down that rabid dog?

*blink*

an odor of breakfast sandwiches and coffee fills the thread

Like I've said before, and I'll say again, if people stop visiting the pet shop it will eventually close it's doors. All that is left on display is a mangy poodle anyway.

In addition to what Jess already said, there's usually a big to-do around harvest and slaughter-times.

Good luck Leafy!

Been loving the hell out ultimage magic so far... in between bouts of finally playing Mass Effect two and hoping that the PSN would come back up (wish granted yesterday evening!)

Any of you read through it yet? Really digging the Qiggong monk (know I spelled that wrong) and the Synthesist.

Anything specific from Ultimate Magic?

A fair deal, to be honest... but I like most of it. Some of it doesn't optimize, which is fine, the spells are in line with the power of previously existing spells. Words of Power is cool, but very different. The ability for anyone to pick up a bloodline power is pretty cool and allows for some really interesting mid to late game combinations. Ultimate Magic definitely bumped up the complexity of the game in terms of choices a fair deal.

Although I haven't seen anything yet that is really overpowered.

Grrrrrr flight from Houston to Charlotte is delayed an hour and a half. Now I get into Virginia at Midnight instead of 9.

On a different note, I hope Leafy's pruning went well today.

Are you looking for religious or seasonal based holidays? Because here we have religious holidays for several religions. If you're interested in more information post a reply.
