BttH is a memorable gift, but Solnes is a merciful First Lady and will probably forgive you. ;)

Troll Town is pretty funny at this point.

So, as a follow up to my heart to heart with my depressed 16 yo daughter a couple of nights ago...

Spoiler:
One of the points I kept reinforcing was to broaden her viewpoint and she might find some happiness. So yesterday she mulled over the discussion and was in a much better mood. Even telling my wife all about it, and beginning to take the lessons to heart. One of them was the quote - If you look for the bad in people you will surely find it (paraphrase), and how she should avoid that trap.

Today she works and a couple asked her if she was the girl from the high school drumline. She affirmed, and they told her how their 6th grade daughter idolizes her and all of the boys think she's awesome. She is currently floating on a cloud. As am I, as I pointed to this type of example specifically. It's happened before, but she was too consumed with depression to recognize it. Nothing like positive reinforcement from an outside source.

Very cool, it's very difficult to put things into any kind of perspective at that age. Good judgement come from experience, and we often get those learning experiences the hard way by making poor judgements. We try to warn them about the pit falls and not say I told you so. Hopefully we steer them away from the worst ones. Good luck!

Excellent news. Depression and teenage angst are hard to deal with. Its hard as a parent to discern the former from the latter. Its great that you have kept the lines of communication open. Good Luck!

Thanks. I must admit however, that I have had many failures on my part. I'll learn from this one though! :)

No parent is perfect, but love and effort cover a multitude of sins, if you will. I made some very bad decisions, but my daughter always knew I loved her even when I screwed up. I'm very proud of the women, wife, and mom she has grown up to be.

No it's not.

:D:D:D My wife started the day by waking up without the alarm rushing to take her shower to go to work, waking my youngest up so he can get ready for school, only to have a knock on the bathroom door and my youngest asking her, "Hey, Rae wasn't yesterday Friday?" :D:D:D

I was still in bed.

Did she come back to bed smelling all purty? Or was that ruined by the kids being awake? ;P
She came back to the bed smelly nice. then she snuggled with her Yoda pillow.
You got hosed... Marriage after kids....

I did not tell my first wife to cheat on me, move in with another man and then decide she was a man in a womans body.

This is why the Eurovision Song Contest is better than drugs.... Giant Gnome Hats then a hot chick on a Unicycle Zdob&Zdub - So Lucky - Moldova Eurovision 2011 (Semifinal 2).

And this is why drugs are better than the Eurovision song contest Ireland: "Lipstick", Jedward - Eurovision Song Contest Semi Final 2011

Zdob & Zdub have opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers so I see who were their major influence - so yeh drugs have to be inovled.

I Jedwards case I think their mother did all the drugs before they were born. They are twins that won Britain's so you think you have X factor talent or what ever...

Although one of my friends was scoring the acts on the hawtness of their backing singers and Jedwards backing singers rated best.

A pop act who wishes to be popular. Ok.

I just wanted to make sure I understood things. Everyone sings in English except the French? Is that correct?

Crimson Jester wrote:

I think there were two acts this year that didn't in the semi final that I saw.... I think that as English generally is the second language in Europe it helps with the voting if the Norwegians (for example) can understand what the Turks are singing about.

The French on the other-hand sing in French because they are the French.

Last years winner Germany "Satellite", Lena .

I think hearing this in German would be better....

Liberty's Edge

I'm sick. This sucks.

Gah. My page-cut has turned into a mullet. That sucks (not as much as being sick, though).

Thanks. It's very distressing. One minute you're Paul McCartney circa 1965, the next you're an extra in an 80's hair metal video. *shudders* If I were American I'd sue my barber.

But enough grouching and unfair stereotyping, time to go vote.

Why would anyone trust people who habitually do 1/2-truths, 1/4-truths, 1/16-truths, 1/100-truths?
