What's the current party makeup?

I was a player in our group's AoW, so I can't offer much advice on the NPC side.

Current party:

LN (bordering on LE) male human sorcerer 10 / dragon disciple 4 (blaster)
CN female half-elf ranger 7 / bard 7 (support/healer)
N female elf rogue 12 / ranger 2 (ranged damage and trapfinding)
CN male half-orc summoner (synthesist) 14 (tank/bruiser)

Notes:
- The ranger/bard has a s~*~load of ranks in Use Magic Device, and carries around at least 5 wands of cure moderate wounds. She is also prone to making monolithically bad decisions.
- The summoner is played by a relatively new player (started playing ten years ago, but hasn't played in a game in six or seven years, and has never played Pathfinder)
- The party is basically selfish, occasionally bordering on evil.

oh God, you are not going to get banned. if I can post while projectile vomiting drunk about the sites ceo offering me a job while wearing a clamshell bra, you are not going to be banned for making a suggestion or asking a question quite courteously. It is worth noting I disagree with you, mind.

They should ban you for being a dragon.

Age of Worms is FULL of Undead. You can't go wrong with a Cleric, Oracle, or Inquisitor.

Liberty's Edge

Forgot to mention: Druid, Cavalier, Alchemist, Inquisitor, non-Synthesist Summoner, and Magus are not allowed as PC classes.

Oracles are SO MUCH FUN, and the mysteries are varied enough to adapt them for pretty much any role.

O.o Dare I ask why?

Cleric or Oracle then.

From previous experience, abuse potential. Oracle is also on the fence--in my previous PF game, a guy played a horrendously optimized oracle that came close to breaking the game.

Thanks guys.

I guess it's normal at my age that friends and family are passing on, but it just seems to pile up sometimes. My Dad's health is failing, and Diane's issue are getting worse, and I have buried so many friends in the past few years that it just grinds a man down.

I'm so grateful for my daughter, son in law and grand kids and their good health, but I'm just mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted for so very long.

I'd like to see my grand kids grow up and prosper, but I'm so God awful tired.

I reckon I'll do what I always do and drive on, but I'm so tired of losing friends and family and neighbors to death and war and disease and age. I guess this is what it means to get older, but it seems kind of over rated to outlive friends and family.

Take care.

Welp. After helping found, play on, run, DM, and Admin a NWN server on-and-off for over seven or eight years, I've submitted my resignation from the staff. Later today I'll be posting a public resignation announcement, and requesting three or four days' notice to make sure I don't have any loose ends (items, rewards, XP, etc.) owed to any players before my access to the DM/Admin forums and DM client is revoked.

I feel a lot more sad about this than I thought I would, given how little activity I've had on the server in the past six months and how much of it was taken up with complaining about the players, the staff decisions I disagreed with, or other headaches of the job.

:(

For what it's worth, I tried to start a list of "people OTD and/or FAWTL have lost due to politicking". The only reason I didn't is because I can't say for certain whether some of the old guard like Callous Jack or Flash (who still post elsewhere on Paizo) or Moff Rimmer (who I haven't seen recently at all) or several other people left due to the politics or due to IRL stuff getting in the way.

If it was just assumed everyone who used to post here regularly abandoned ship due to the change in the tone of OTD, though, it's a pretty darned big list.

I only stick around for FAWTL, my two PbPs, and the music threads. That's it. Otherwise, I'd be gone. Also, PIE.

I hear you, man.

You're what, ten years older than me? That hardly qualifies as old. Plus, you can lift me over your head--believe me, I know, you've demonstrated.

The Eldritch Mr. Shiny wrote:

On a completely different note, I need some game-related advice.

I started a Pathfinder Age of Worms group about a year ago, which quickly swelled from two to five players. The group is currently nearing the end of the AP, with only three adventures to go. I had to hand off some of the DMing duties to a friend of mine back in September, and I've finally given him full control of the campaign as full DM. The game is fun, but tiring, and I'm considering leaving the group entirely, rather than becoming a massive fifth wheel in the currently well-rounded party.

My questions are: Should I leave the group? If not, what kind of character could I dump into a well-rounded party? Are there any NPCs in Age of Worms that could be adapted as PCs?

I would say that you should never blow off a chance to have fun with friends. Life is so very short.

I know nothing about the AP, but if they have a well rounded party you can't really go wrong.

Bards are wicked awesome, but the above mentioned choices are pretty cool too.

This might be a great chance to try something different that helps the party and expand your horizons.

I suggest you get together with some friends and roll dice and have fun!

You could go Oracle (flavor of choice), Healing Cleric, or full on CODzila. They could all be fun depending on the group. ;)

This week's Kingmaker got cancelled. Oh, well.

Midday nap dream idea:

A prison in the form of big old pseud-gothic building surrounded by a moat or fenced area filled with nercomantic sigils that animate the bodies within as ravenous zombie-like ghouls. Prisoners that try to escape fall victims to the zombies. Prisoners that die in the prison (or are executed) are thrown outside and reanimate as zombies adding to the prison defenses.

Only thing I wonder is why the storyteller used Evil Lincoln's avatar...

If I only remembered the plot involved with the prison :(

It could be also the old style insane asylum for what I remember... I established it as prison after waking when trying to recall what I dreamed.

The Exchange

I hate when I know I've had a wicked dream and then can't remember the damn thing when I wake up.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A few days ago I dreamed about fighting something or someone in swamplands. It was part of a larger story of which I now recall nothing. The sole thing I retained from the dream is an idea for a treekiller spell - I remember I thrusted a sword into a tree to draw a power from it.

Spoiler:
Treekiller
School Necromancy; Level Druid 5, Magus 4, Sorcerer/Wizard 5, Witch 5
Casting Time 1 round
Components V, S, F (a masterwork light or heavy blade thrusted into the target)
Target A tree, medium or larger bush or plant creature
Duration Instantaneous and 1 minute
Saving Throw Fortitude partial (object); Spell resistance Yes (object)
The caster thrusts his blade into the tree while reciting incantations. This inflicts 1d6 points of damage per caster level (maximum 15d6) that ignore wood's natural hardness (or half on a successful saving throw) and the caster gains temporary hit points equal to damage suffered by the target. Additionally, if the saving throw failed the caster gains +1 bonus to caster level for one minute (or a number minutes equal to the plant creature's HD).

I keep getting addicted to cartoons.

Silver Crusade

Shiny, a party can always use an extra person to wade into melee (Barbarian or something). Otherwise, go full-on CODzilla.
