It is dangerous to venture nakedly near the molten PIE Pits of Ygg!

Good luck, Solnes!

Grats, Shiny! I have no belts, so you can kick my butt. I only have those darn wraps that people keep knitting around me.

Good luck, Solnes!

I need to find the next Joss Whedon fan event and get him to autograph 'To my dear friend Freehold DM...'

Wow, Praxis...seems like a lifetime ago. Good luck, Solnes! I know you'll do fine.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Work rant -

Spoiler:
So, three months ago I presented real estate options to handle growth in CA to our executives. I'm told to go back to the drawing board to increase seating capacity within our existing suite. Did that, and the CFO didn't want to put it on the agenda for last month's meeting. Growth since then, and some expected growth from new business, have now pushed it back to the front burner. Guess what? I'm dusting off my original presentation. That's the easy part. The bad part is that I will now have to rush to implement whatever frickin' choice they make. Since it's bad form to say 'I told you so' I guess I'll have to find a nice way to say 'As I showed you back in February... Argh! Feast or famine these days.

Yup, another verbal reprimand this evening. 3 in 5 days and 1 more in the chute.

Disgusted with my current job. If I didn't the next five paychecks, I would have been out of there a month ago.

I need to find something that isn't part customer service/part baby-sitting/part janitorial work. Bomb disposal sound good. No stress, no tension, and if I screw up, I won't be around to hear any one complain.

I might have to quit my job soon. Working 40 hours a week, plus taking 12 - 16 credits is making me physically ill.

Money, degree, health. Choose two. Not a good situation. I f+#*ing hate this, too, since I put so much effort into finding a job in the first place.

As I may have mentioned, I've been reading the new book, The Wind Through the Glory Hole. Very interesting - a story within a story, each of which is kind of like a murder mystery with magic involved. The main villain is a shape changer called skin man.

I don't think there's anything supernatural about that magic.

Unnatural, on the other hand, ...

YAY I got another favorite.

Yeah, full time course load plus full time work is rough. I'm sorry, Shiny. I hope things turn up for you soon!

Is there any chance they might let you go down to part time?

Well, Doug and Derek's attempt to cheer Dave up hit a snag when the stripper climbed into the wrong cake. Meanwhile, Max's effort to locate a bakery that served bacon-flavored strudel continued to meet with failure. And, across town, Sebastian was surprised to learn that his usual hook....No, wait! I will use it as camoflauge when I heckle the Avengers movie.

Dark Archive

Me I am just going to get a picture of FHDM and photoshop him wearing the shirt then post it on the Joss's fan club page ...as well as Facebook and any other social networking place I can find... I sure that will go over well right?

But Freehold, you Facebook page tells us that you love Joss so much. Facebook does not lie so it must be true.

Hell, if it convinces him to come down to Philly and we can get together with the zombeh, it might be worth being hunted. ;)

The other day, one of my coworkers was telling me there is a back way out of the office park where I work that cuts through the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. She said she avoids that route, though, because the abandoned buildings creep her out.

Naturally, I had to check it out.

I tried to find that route on my lunch break (it's remarkably labyrinthine), and could not believe some of the sights. Much of it was still in use, but the parts that weren't...

I didn't have a camera, so here are some pictures I found on the web.

I also found this photo essay with a lot of interior pics.

I'll admit - it's kind of awesome that that is connected to my office park...

Another interview today, lets see how this one goes.

Cool. Reminds me of some places I new of back home in New Orleans (a lot more of them these days from what I hear) and some places here in Philly.

I'm sorry Shiney. I know how hard it can be when you have to choose between health and financial security, but health takes priority, and rightfully so.

I'll put it up on my wall, next to Joss Whedon himself, who will be frozen in carbonite.

I hope you aren't in the theatre with me when I watch the film, then. My wife has already stated that she isn't bailing me out of jail, nor will she say a word in my defense at any trials.

That's fantastic! I adore abandoned buildings, for some reason. But..um... what parts are still in use?

Sooo, the good and bad of today. The long azz drive to Florence was enjoyed, and made really good timing. I passed the reading part of the test w/flying colors. I failed the math part, as expected. But only by 3 lousy points. Now I study up, and take it again. At least this time I know what I am up against and what to study. Not being too awful hard on myself, its just.... 3 DAMN POINTS! Ugh.
Will find out the results of the writing portion in just over a week.

It's a sprawling complex that once housed upwards of 14,000 patients - a figure which has never been exceeded by any other hospital in the world.

The creepy abandoned buildings are probably only about 40% of the existing complex. Of the rest that is in use, about half of it looks just fine. The other half looks creepy, but lights are on. Erk.
