Soccer

German Cup Final

in soccer in every season there are two national competitions:

the league, the team with the most points (a win gives 3 points) after a home and a away game against every other team is the national champion
the teams with the least points have to go down to the lower league

the Cup, tournament style, every round a home and away game against one team, most goals goes to next round up to the single final in Berlin

champion (+runners up) plays next season international in the Champions League for the european Champion

cup winner (+league places 3-5) play Europa League for the European Cup

european champions league winner plays south american champions leaguer winner for world team champion

I have a monitor the size of two. Does that count?

It can split screen too.

Sovereign Court

the productivity increase of going from one monitor to two is huge and immensely satisfying. :)

As long as you have decent screen real estate, it's all good!

Silver Crusade

We went to IKEA (I was being serious when I said I was going to).

We just put our new TV stand together, and it is really nifty. Got a nice bookcase, too. Also ate some Swedish meatballs. Mmmm.

Lots of real estate. :) And another view.

*is envious of people with multiple/very large monitors*

Silver Crusade

I read somewhere that the productivity boost from two monitors, even in people working data entry, is so astounding that, in many cases, the monitors pay for themselves in a week. But companies usually don't want to spring for it.

Thanks guys

In Memory of Karen Correll- Chaparral High Class of 1989.
Passing into the Light before Mother's Day

I'M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has chosen for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call;
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I've now found peace at the end of day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;
Oh yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
Look for the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much;
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seems all to brief;
Don't lengthen your pain with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now-He set me free

My (old) company was cool with two monitors for people. I know my development time more than doubles when I"m stuck on one monitor.

Hi Shiny,

I don't get the reference, so I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad.
But knowing your state of mind at the moment I take a guess and send positiv waves. Hang in there.

According to Wikipedia a lot of countries celebrate it on the same day.

Although quite a few (UK, Ireland, Norway.... are all over the place).

We took Mrs 8D out for Breakie and then we went shopping in Newtown (the Alternate, hippie, bohemian, student suburb)Mrs 8D likes all the 2nd hand bookshops the boutique clothing stores and the art/craft shops... I like the food and coffee, you can get good Turkish, or Greek coffee or Indian or Lebanese sweets, gelato, or a pub lunch. Before we had the kids we lived 10 mins walk from King Street, I keep hinting if we ever move I would like to go back.

I did not know that Aldi expanded to Australia. wow

The Aldi Brothers (Karl and Theodor Albrecht)are the richest Germans, by the way. They never appear in public and no picture of them exist

Aldi is very successful in Australia. There are two main grocers they hold a virtual monopoly and artificially inflate prices. Aldi and I hope Cosco (who are new) are forcing them to lower their prices.
