Liberty's Edge

Ah, the heartbreak I know will take time, that's where the stomach pain and depression is coming from. And I can get through it with time, but the pain is just really messing me up right now.

As for the reasons for the heartbreak, those on FB know. And, yes, I'm still holding out for her.

best wishes to you Ashe

in german we would say: keep your ears stiff

It's already moving to take over the rest of the house after a bloody coup of the living room. Ask Shiny about the MASSIVE TV it's running on now.

So big that sitting close to it gave me motion sickness.

Mrgh.

Unless something good happens tomorrow, then it's going to be a long and unproductive weekend.

Change "close to" to "on," and you have a near verbatim quote from a girlfriend of mine (as in friend who happens to be a girl, not the even better kind) about her washing machine.

Scarab Sages

Which, frankly, sucks ass.

.....?

Scarab Sages

No, not you Frank.

Y'know, since when they removed the law that made homosexuality illegal (in Sweden), they forgot that the same law also included the ban on bestiality. Which meant that for quite a long while, sucking ass was perfectly legal around here. Boy were our faces red when we discovered that.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hmm... my mind seems unusually filthy tonight. Gonna see if some tea helps with that.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm......mind.

Liberty's Edge

Tea didn't work. Ginger ale's not doing much either. Let's hope the PureCalm that's on its way will be better.

Sorry the stomach pain is continuing. :(

mini rant:
Having a craptastic day. Financial b&+&#%%& (meh, it'll be fine, just don't like dealing with jerks, or having most of my afternoon eaten up by this crap when I had other stuff to do), menniers flareup, kid had a bad day at school, school concert tonight during which he was not behaving at all well, and I had to take him by myself to an elementary school concert while having a mennier's flareup...aaaargh! All of this after having to be the evil mom all afternoon because he kept misbehaving at school and at home. I'm dealing with all of this considerably less well than normal due to the ear pain, nausea, and more than occasional attempts by my messed up inner ears to convince me that gravity works sideways. Geez, it's like today thought it was a Wednesday or something. :/

Don't mind me, I just needed to vent a little. I'll feel better soon enough. I have an excel test tomorrow so once I finish that I'm done with computers class for the week and no homework so at least I have tomorrow afternoon to look forward to. :)

Spoiler:
My son (also 26) says it helped him sleep better too. Had dinner with him on Monday and he's met a new girl. (His love dumped him in late-Jan) Just friends, but it made him feel better about himself. It was good to see him smile again. She had just gone thru a long-term breakup in the fall. Neither of them are in any rush. I'm not sure if he's still holding on for the old gf to change her mind. They did decide that they couldn't still be in contact because of the pain, but they're still on friendly terms.

It's a normal part of life, but it still sucks big time. Hope it helps you.

So, next piece of news I'm waiting on:

Cross your fingers we get someone to rent our apartment in LA. So far, no luck (we've been advertising it for about a week and a half). Apartments in this area are in demand, so we're hopeful. We're offering a move-in credit.

It's not a sublet - in CA, if you can find a new tenant willing to rent your apartment, the landlord has to allow you to do so and let you out of your lease, because financially it's all the same to them.

Thanks for hugs and tea. :)

Good luck finding a new renter for your apartment CH.

Anybody know how to kill the stomach pain from depression/heartbreak without resorting to lots of alcohol?

Bummer Ashe, the karaoke was autobiographical then was it?

Just to let everyone know, I over-slept today. I got a new credit card yesterday too. So my moving expenses are covered when I hit Chicago and Indiana this Summer. Know all I need to do is save some cash. Wahoo! I'm a moving son-of-a-gun.

Liberty's Edge

Good news on the job CH, and fingers crossed on the apartment.

Liberty's Edge

Hope that you're feeling better lynora.

The Exchange

Good luck Lynora, I hope tomorrow is a stress free day.

The weirdest effect of having a workmate from Pakistan has to be that my internal voice now sounds like Apu whenever I'm thinking in English.

The most annoying thing about staying up so I can go food-shopping before sleeping - the way my eyelid keeps twitching. It's like I'm turning into one of the cheesier Bond-villains.

The Exchange

wow, just wow. Apu huh?

Yup. I'm just glad it's not affecting my actual accent. That could get a bit awkward, methinks.

The Exchange

Yeah, he might think poorly of it.

Now you have me wondering about accents. Do people dream accented? I guess I always "think" in English, my French being so poor, I have to think hard to remember words.

Do American accents sound weird to you? Just regional ones? Are some of them hard to understand? Have you heard many other than the two or three used in Hollywood movies?

Do American accents sound weird to you? Not really, we get a lot of American TV-shows and movies (including independent ones) on TV in Sweden, and these days our news cover the American presidential elections almost as closely as our own. (Plus, SAAB, which used to be the main employer in my town, used to be owned by GM - so I've even had American neighbours for a bit. That said, I remember someone with a really broad "southern" accent being interviewed once and being surprised someone actually spoke like that in the real world.

Edit: Strangely enough (or not so strangely when you sit down and think about it), the version of English that sounds most natural to me, are the dialects spoken in Scotland and northern England.

Are some of them hard to understand? Not that I've noticed so far - although I recall a feature Swedish Radio did about the Fugees, back in the day, where one of their roadies spoke in some half-creole, half-cajun accent - that was bleeding impossible to understand.

Have you heard many other than the two or three used in Hollywood movies? Not that many more, although listening to podcasts has certainly widened the range. I'm still better at differentiating British accents, though - a side effect of growing up in a home where the two main forms of cultural discussions were about soccer and pop-music. ;)

Scarab Sages

Good morning to all my fellow FAWTLY Folk! Hope everything's going well, and if it isn't - POSITIVE WAVES!!!

Heard back from my POC on the ship yesterday evening, and she let me know that the paperwork I needed has gone through. Hopefully that'll clear the way for us to work this Saturday and Sunday, getting us back on track to finish on time.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmmm......Navy chicks.

Scarab Sages

Also, today could very well end up being one of this rare days I eat three actual meals. Weird.

Scarab Sages

Here's hoping DMV style customer service doesn't get in the way.

Scarab Sages

Actually, I think the people we'll have to deal with today are the ones who give lessons to the DMV on how to be rude a#+$+~+s.

So tired. ER no fun at 2am.
But at least I know Riley bug is ok. Just a viral fever. *sigh*

Sorry to hear about the ER visit. Glad RIley is okay and not seriously ill. Hope he feels better soon.

I'm feeling quite a bit better today. Went to bed early last night and a lot of my symptoms have decreased since yesterday. Already done with my exam and now I can go home and relax a little before I have to tackle the housework. :)

um, well, to tell the truth, I did not even know that there are american accents beside "southern"

to my defence, films and tv shows are usually dubbed here. I do watch films on DVD in english but never noticed a accent pattern (beside ambigious south)
i can at least distinguish American, English, Scottish and Irsh
