Taig had a nice interview on the Kobold Courier. I was like, "Hey, I know him!"

Read that earlier this morning, too. I said to myself, "a modest honey badger? Deceptive."

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Well, Scott took his family to the circus, only to watch in horror as several trained llamas went berserk and mauled one of the clowns. Meanwhile, Max headed out to the desert, not knowing that he would soon be in the midst of a group of camel-riding bandits. And, across town, Gregg's encounter with a honey badger left them both....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

Meh. Two glasses of wine and one whisky (or should that be whishky), and I'm feeling dizzy...

...does this mean I should drink more, to stop being such a lightweight, or does it mean I should drink less?

We're headed out to the desert today. I think it will do us some good to get out of the city.

Edit: A naked tour of the Mojave Desert seems like a recipe for serious health problems.

Well, at least no one will die from TB.

Got to fill in for a missing player at a friend's 4e game yesterday. Even with a really good DM, the game itself still dragged its ass. A combat with six level 10 PCs versus five monsters took a little over four hours. One skill encounter, one combat encounter, and one puzzle ended up taking eight hours of gameplay.

...and that's why I play Pathfinder.

You got to play for 12 hours Shiny?

Yeah, it was a really rough review, as if to say, these guys across the pond play the game bad wrong fun, and all of these monsters suck.

Time showed those peeps wrong.

Sadly I have family in the Houston area that I have lost track of. Even worse I would never in a Million years talk my wife into moving there. I kept trying to suggest Louisiana but she was not for it.

Well it has been pretty cool in Minneapolis of late, and I just got done with a hockey game so I spent the last hour on the ice.

No: seven hours total, four hours of which was one combat encounter.

What the...? I take a short (45 minutes) nap before going to work, and the temperature drops from 0˚ to -10˚ C? Not cool, weather-patterns!!

I haven't played 4e to compare, but that seems excessively long.

GET OFF HIS LAWN!

They're too busy chilling in the cool dew that coats the vegetation in front of you. They don't respond to idle threats. You should pelt them with something.

According to the DM, all of the combat encounters have been really long throughout the entire campaign. Since he's never played 3.5 or Pathfinder, he asked me if 3.5 or PF combats run that long, and was amazed when I told him no.

Was it bad combat management or just the nature of the rules do you think? Last time we had a battle go that long in PF it was 5 PCs, 2 cohorts, about 100 followers and assorted allied NPCs vs an enemy army, 3 dragons, various devils and some high level wizards ... and I think we still got done in under 4 hours.

I had a 4 hour combat in Pathfinder before, and I only got 9 turns out of it. Though this had to do with a large group (8 people) dicking around, drinking, getting off topic, then taking up to 15 minutes deciding what the hell they were going to do, compiled with issues using maptool. It was the last time I gamed with that group.

yeah that is a real long time

4 Hours we have two combats and a lot of non combat stuff going on.

Our group sometimes suffers from those things too; there are certainly sessions where we don’t get much done for those reasons, but we tend to stay relatively focused during combats.

4hrs =an entire PFS module.

Including introductions & rewards being handed out.

At least, theoretically.

It wasn't the combat that made me leave though, it was between cheating player who dominated the group's actions and dealing with my ex girlfriend, the combat just made it unbearable.

In my experience that is tight but achievable if everyone is prepared and stays focused, at least for low level play, I would imagine once you get up to mid levels things might tend to slow down a bit.
