I had my Hokkaido cheese toast.

Not bad... Not bad.

The guy told me they use 2 cheeses. I know one of them is mozarella, was trying to taste the other, but couldn't.

Maybe I should have asked the guy.

I was thinking of trying to duplicate it at home but it requires the specially imported Japanese milk.

Oh Noes. I was eating cheese toast while Nekkid!

*shudders* Yeah, that’s awful. I love golden milk, but that does not mix with coffee. It’s supposed to be more like a chai latte, just spices and milk. Putting them together just sounds nauseating. You poor thing! You were given bad directions.

We have something called Teh halia, or translated, Ginger Milk Tea and I've heard it's quite good, but I haven't tried it yet, because I'm trying to cut down on sugar.

Yes, I drink my tea unsweetened. No sugar for me!

And I don't drink coffee because you have to add sugar with that, it's too bitter for me to drink without sugar.

The article suggests that it's Gouda, which doesn't taste very distinctive in my experience.

Hey, Lynora, have you ever ordered yarn through JoAnn.com?

First time I've done it and I'm really regretting it. Placed the order on the 1st, it shipped out on the 4th, and it's taken a week to go from Michigan to Wisconsin to Illinois to Kansas to New Mexico. Now I know why they only charge 1.99 to ship.

Days later... my reply arrives like the yarn ;)

Anyhow, no I loathe JoAnn when it comes to delivery. I only buy from them in store. Online I usually order from Amazon, or I just discovered Knit Picks, which was a lovely buying experience, highly recommend, or if I’m really splurging I order from Miss Babs, but not often because that’s the expensive stuff.

I finally got it on Saturday, and I'm already almost halfway through the project.

I had my mother send me the specs on the paint colors for my niece's room so I could match the yarn for her baby blanket. (Indigo with gold stars.)

Thanks for the recommendations. My goals this year are first drop twenty pounds, and then buy the yarn to knit myself a Star Trek dress. I've been working up a pattern to make the original series dress as a sweater dress.
It will turn out better, it will cling better, and it will be original. Now I have all that time to decide between red and blue.

Why Oakland is a good town: one of the local comic shops, Cape and Cowl, just sent out an email saying they're working on crowdfunding a free showing for local youth, and asking the folks on their mailing list to chip in.

Oh, good. My posts are eating each other. Updates:

  • 101.5 this morning, and moving is difficult. Sorry, LM, but I can't risk exposing your family to this. Game off for 1-2 weeks. Blame Shiro.
  • I am eating, drinking, and bored, all of which are good signs.
  • Shiro, a day ahead of me, is mostly recovered, but still taking today off work.
  • Hi, being Hi, recovered in 3 days flat. Curse you, Pancreas Man!
  • Since we need the doctor's note anyway, NobodysWife is taking Impus Minor in this afternoon. Still angry about the whole, "Without a doctor's note, your son's absences aren't excused" thing.

So I've gotta give NobodysWife some serious props here. The best way to describe our typical arrangement was exemplified when she was practicing Spanish with Impus Major and she asked, "And what does dad do around the house?", to which his answer was, "Todo" (everything). Heck, she gets credit for not smacking him in the back of the head.

But yeah, housework has never been something she's been willing to do without direct threat of visitors, and I have lots of spare time since I work from home, so I take care of most everything around the house.

But for the last couple of days she's taken time off work to take care of me and Impus Minor. She's done the shopping runs, gotten the food, cleaned the litterboxes, and *gasp* done the dishes. (You don't know what kind of tectonic shift that is for her.)
So she's been really working hard to take care of us and the house. And we appreciate it!

So thank you, but we're in excellent hands!

(Until SHE gets the flu, that is!)

Or less. The thing about updates is that Windows never tells you how long a session takes. I'm okay with fifteen minutes. Glad it didn't take at least an hour like the one session recently.

Blergh. Not the best day. Got rear ended on the way home from dropping off kidlet. (No damage to either car so I just let it go.) And after yesterday's all day migraine and severe asthma attack last night, I was just freaking done, so I went back to bed once I got home. Had a fever when I woke up. Which means that the headache and asthma trouble was actually the beginning of some kind of respiratory bug. Took Motrin and Tylenol, but still feel like crap. :(

Quite like me. With a caveat that I don't get visitors, not since my friends moved out and there are no more sessions at my place.

    Though very occasionally...

That does sound crazy sweet. I'm an unsweetened tea person too for the most part. I tolerate a slight amount of sweetness in chai or golden milk, but that's pretty much it. I love ginger tea. It's served at a couple of the Korean restaurants in town and they do an unsweetened version. Probably to cater to regional tastes. Sweet tea is not really a thing around here. I tried to find ginger tea I could make at home without having to spend ages brewing it, but the Korean mix I found at the asian grocery had lots of sugar in. It was awful. But then I found a Jamaican mix that is just strong ginger tea. It's awesome. I'm drinking some now. It's the best when I'm not feeling so well.

And I'm not a fan of super sweet coffee either. A little soy milk is usually fine for me. But I also can't taste a lot of the bitterness in the coffee.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I've heard that you can reduce coffee's bitterness by "cold-brewing" it.

    Lol.

I did NOT know gouda and Edam get stretchy when heated. I only know mozzarella does. Guess its one more thing I learnt today!

NH – I hate doing dishes myself. Offer to wash up, I’ll cook happily =)

Lynora – it is crazy sweet, and you can’t really control the sugar that well since it’s condensed milk – if you add less condensed milk then it won’t be milky. Maybe if you used fresh milk instead…well but condensed milk has its particular flavour, so I’m not sure what the effect on the tea would be at the end of the day…

Korean ginger tea black/green tea with ginger or just ginger -> Green tea and black tea with ginger.

Game tonight was fun. Started off by confirming the death of the Cleric (he was grappled underwater with a wand of Inflict Moderate Wounds in hand, managed to kill the merrow that had him, but then drowned), immediately introduced the Alchemist made to replace him. The captain of the boat they are on got drunk and recited an "Orcish love poem" to the half-orc Paladin (at bottom of post if you are interested) and then passed out. So she posed him in an unspecified but embarrassing way for the crew to see. The Fighter played by the Navy veteran failed his Perception check, causing the boat to run aground. Then it was time for the big fight. In the fight, I managed to kill the Rogue, knock the Alchemist unconscious, drop the Paladin to 2 hit points, and knock the Archer down to 3 hit points. Oh, and I also killed one of the boat crew (the cook). This brings my total kill count to 4 PCs and 2 NPCs, and we're not even halfway through Book 2 yet. BWAHAHA!!

    Poem spoilered for adult content:
    Roses are red,
    As are your lips.
    So sit on my face,
    And wiggle your hips.

They couldn't catch it. The merrow has a 40' swim speed, so even carrying the cleric it moved at 20' per round. You swim at 1/4 speed, so it can easily outpace the party, and it had a 3 round head start during which the other players attacked the other merrows, assuming the cleric could escape. He couldn't.

And the first 2 PC kills came when the party accidentally triggered two groups of 4 orcs each simultaneously, which was pretty bad for a 2nd level party.
