Now I feel bad. Ms BBAC just gushed on the phone about how great I am to work with. I just wish she didn't write her emails...

That is the filthiest of lies. That said, I'm sure whedon wishes he was both this black and this bald... Although recent photos show he is rushing to catch up to the bald look.

I am pretty sure the filthiest of lies would have to involve you swimming in your own excrement, you can't get much filthier then that. ;)

And man this cold is persistent. Thought it'd be gone by now, but noooo. Went grocery shopping, which takes like 20 minutes if there's no queue, and by the time I got home I was sweating buckets and my legs felt like the muscles had turned to marmelade. GRRRRR!!!

BIG BOLD CAPS EXTRA MOANING

Did that for four years. The write-ups AND the one-on-one to explain the annual pay review that goes with it.

The sad reality is that we've already figured out what you were going to make; we give the write-ups and one-on-one to frame it.

Sadly, the reviews and raises have long been divorced. Raises have been rare animals for a long time, but we need to 'help people grow'. Mrgh.

I wish I had a shed. I'd use it to sneak out and read old comic books and make pewter soldiers for my Battle of Poltava model...

...not sure why I'd be sneaking, though - I'm single and live alone.

Ok I will give you that much. As I have yet to see the film I can't comment. I do think his fan bois are a little extreme and give him extra credit that is not always due and ignore his blunders *cough Aliens 4 *cough, and that does create a bit of a backlash. Some of this articles points however are a bit extremist and don't match the situation. While many of the characters do seem to be "stock" most of them are done well. Now this may in fact just be the actors involved, it does not mean that we should throw out an entire corpus of work because a handful of people see similarities in them.

I disagree. Of the two Star Wars EU books I've actually read, one of them only got my attention because it had a woman on the front cover with a yellow lightsaber that I thought was Leia, and thought that I'd get to read about her actually finally doing some Jedi stuff in the story. Presumably including some crazy Force-propelled gymnastics mid-combat.

Turned out it was some other character and I was disappointed.

Have you seen Carrie Fisher lately? Drugs do not help maintaining that youthful glow.

Nice thing about books is you don't have to worry about any of that.

So forgot to mention this earlier.

Accidentally dumped half a glass of water on my surge protector last night. Sudden lights out for half the gizmos in my room, including my computer. Thankfully the SP works as advertised and no permanent damage, no sparks, no fire, no nothing. Just had to unplug and dry off everything, lay it out overnight to dry, then in the morning flip a few switches in the circuit breaker, reset the plugs, and put everything back together, and it all works fine.

Teach me to set a mug on top of my computer tower though.

+1

The original Star Wars movies (I do not acknowledge the existence of any SW movie made after 1983) are some of my favorite movies ever. But they're a product of their time, in terms of gender roles. It's one of the few things about them that I think hasn't stood the test of time particularly well, and I think it would be great to see Leia doing the same kinds of cool Jedi stuff that Luke got to do in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Actually it would have been a much more interesting story if Princess Leia had in fact reached Obi Wan. He would have left with her and attempting to teach her in the ways of the force. They leave Tattione in a hurry on the Falcon only to find that her homeworld was destroyed by the Deathstar in a petty attack. Using the plans she had hidden in an R2 unit to train and prepare a fighter group to attack and destroy the Deathstar, a young recruit manages a spectacular last minute shot, never to be seen again. Young Leia goes with Obi Wan to his teacher in Dagobah to learn and train in the ways of the force. She stays many years and when she finally faces Vader and then the Emperor Obi Wan's greatest fears are realized as she now joins her Father in ruling the galaxy as the new Lady Sith Darth Nocturne.

Crimson Jester wrote:

Why assume she'd go dark side, out of curiosity?
