Also, when I was at the company Christmas party, after they had announced my award, I wound up winning a raffle, too. ($25 iTunes gift card.) I don't think I had ever won a raffle in my life. I hope I don't have a run of bad luck coming up to bring the universe back into balance...

Silver Crusade

Fortunately, I was clothed when I accepted the raffle prize.

On a final note, I just put up the Christmas tree. It still needs to be decorated, but that can wait for tomorrow.

Except hitting your brothers with a cardboard sword to remind them who's the first-born in this family. ;)

I woke up some 40 minutes before the alarm I set.

Before I woke up I dreamed of a mental health institution where suspicious things happened connected to a string of murders, as far as I can recall. Except at one moment I remembered that I read a spoiler for that investigation/story and that's cult/conspiracy among the staff of the institution. I think they were subtly prodding disturbed patients into killing intended victims.

I'm sorry you woke up so early. And that dream is almost Lovecraftian!

There wasn't anything supernatural about it, as far as I recall, it was more like psychological (and psychiatric) criminal/thriller drama.

We're going to the vet tomorrow, appointment's already made. Hopefully they'll be able to at least give me a hint as to what to do.

Hope the vet appointment went well. I've had that problem before and it sucks. I use better bitter spray on the cords to keep them from chewing...or if I'm feeling really evil, I paint the cords with tobasco sauce. The latter is also a very useful way to get dogs to stop chewing on things they shouldn't.

I might GM a session next Sunday.

I need to get a White Elephant gift for an exchange on Thursday. $20 limit. Anybody got any ideas?

These.

Or any of these, I guess.

Smallish plastic/ceramic elephant figurine, painted white. Bonus points if it is holding a gift box.

Alternatively, you could do as my parents used to do and regift something you had gotten as a white elephant gift on a previous occasion. In fact, in town we lived in while I was growing up, there was a "tradition" amongst the churchfolk that there was one specific item, I forget what it was, that was handed around every year as a white elephant gift. It had changed hands every year for over 20 years at the time we moved away.

yesterday evening Lord Commander Mormont was killed with a machete rammed into his back by a angry young subordinate, hmmm sounds like it is his usual kind of death scene

it was in "death in paradise" a british crime show taking place in the caribean

I was wondering why CH didn't go to a store and buy a ceramic white elephant.

Is a white elephant something specific that I don't know about?

I believe those are called "mathoms".

White elephant gift exchange. It's a party game.

3-1/2 hoyrs until I go outside for work, and the noise I hear from there right now is: WOOSH smatter-smatter-smatter beep-beep... Er... The last bit was my egg-timer.

Sorry for not responding to wish people well on things and congratulate. I've had family over all day and the limits of my capacity to deal with people in general are maxed. I need alone-time before I start snapping at people just for existing.

The revolution came. I told them you were busy. They left dejected that they couldn't overthrow you as a candidate for deity-hood.

And I'm going to spend all day tomorrow dealing with psychiatric stuff as they check how I'm reacting to meds.

I hope all of you have an excellent day!

It's quiet. Too quiet. Like a ninja stealthing in an area affected by a Silence spell.

I'm scared.

So far rubbing the cords with lemon rind and covering the important ones like the DSL line with toilet paper tubes seems to dissuade chewing. She got ahold of some headphones last night though. Thankfully I have lots of spares of those.

Playing it by ear at this point, but yeah I need to get my hands on an empty spraybottle and keep it on my desk for dissuasion purposes.

Also I have internet back at home! Yay!

I've been spending a lot of time poring over old genealogical records, and it turns out that the family lore is full of lies. Not only am I *not* related to Declaration of Independence signer James Wilson, I've found that my mother's side of the family is not of German, Welsh, and French descent (as I was always told), but instead are German, Irish, and Prussian-Polish.

Are you sure some people didn't marry into those ethnicities?

Freehold DM wrote:

Pretty sure. I'm only counting direct ancestors, and the records go back to Europe in the 1600s.
