Well, as of Saturday, I'll no longer be able to joke about how funny it is that I'm an international traveller born, raised, and living in California, yet have never been to Mexico. For I am taking a three day weekend and taking the Greyhound to Los Angeles tomorrow to see a spaceship, then heading down to Tijuana to spend my last weekend before school starts doing stuff. I don't know precisely what stuff yet, but stuff.

I don't know whether Trader Joe's is that far east, but TJ's carries Yumi tea, and they make a ginger tea NobodysWife swears by...
That does sound crazy sweet. I'm an unsweetened tea person too for the most part. I tolerate a slight amount of sweetness in chai or golden milk, but that's pretty much it. I love ginger tea. It's served at a couple of the Korean restaurants in town and they do an unsweetened version. Probably to cater to regional tastes. Sweet tea is not really a thing around here. I tried to find ginger tea I could make at home without having to spend ages brewing it, but the Korean mix I found at the asian grocery had lots of sugar in. It was awful. But then I found a Jamaican mix that is just strong ginger tea. It's awesome. I'm drinking some now. It's the best when I'm not feeling so well.
And I'm not a fan of super sweet coffee either. A little soy milk is usually fine for me. But I also can't taste a lot of the bitterness in the coffee.
Lol. Yeah, they are this far east. We have one right next door. It was a deciding factor in staying in this apartment. Walking distance to a grocery store is a big plus! :)
The Yumi tea is too weak for me. The ginger tea at the restaurants is made by boiling the ginger for at least an hour, so it has a really strong bite. The Korean mix I found has the bite but too much sugar. EDIT: Since that could easily be taken the wrong way, pretty much any place whose main attractions are "beaches", "deserts", "drinking", or "tropical sun" is not on my "ever need to go there" list.

Still feel like crap today. Slept all morning after I got back from dropping kidlet at school. Couldn’t face the prospect of food for lunch, but I’m not allowed to skip meals so I’m having a smoothie.
Current smoothie recipe: about a half cup of Greek yogurt, a few handfuls of kale, some frozen mango and pineapple chunks, a couple spoonfuls of golden milk mix, and some vanilla soy milk. It’s quite good. I will have to make this one again. Probably tomorrow if my stomach doesn’t get better.

Granted, I've only had a passport for 14 months. Once I have the money and the time again, Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, South Africa, Japan, China, Thailand, Peru, Brazil, and more of Mexico are all on the list.
I've never been to Mexico, and I have no desire to ever go there. So there you go.

I'm into urban exploring, history museums, and old ruins. All three of which Mexico has in spades. I can't make it to Mexico City this weekend, but that just may be the next place I go for a lengthy abroad trip, as opposed to just a weekend stay. Mexico City has TONS of cool stuff to explore, a world class metro for wanna-be transit planner me to marvel at, and access to bus trips to all sorts of ruins. I'd love it.
Also, I can't really maintain the whole "Mexican Rosie the Riveter" aesthetic without at some point stepping foot on Mexican soil.

(1) The world smells like wet dog.
(2) Climbing 4 steps rendered me out of breath.

When I was young and my dad was a teacher in the early eighties we lived a whole bunch of different places.
Texas, Florida, and Georgia before my parents settled on Wisconsin (which is kinda funny because we started off in Rockford).

I find security questions more of a hindrance than help. I can't recall what security question I picked for which account/service, and can't recall what I wrote there.
If I would selected the same question and entered the same answer it would defeat purpose of security question in the first place, once ANY of those accounts/services would be compromised by crappy security on the server admin side.

i would be interested in your thoughts on arpeggio. I liked the series, which is weird for me as I'm not a big moe guy (my tastes are far more carnal), but i wanted to hug each and every one of those ship girls. So cute! I also got into kantai collection a bit afterwards, but that was more of an H tastic excursion into the series than anything else.

Agreed, but before they rolled this out we were seeing 300-400 password reset requests every week go through the 1st level team. Now they can concentrate on more important issues.

Speaking of Animes to check out, have you seen "the Ancient Magus' Bride" yet? I've still not really figured out if I like it or not, but it is a very interesting show.
Just don't watch it in dub.There is nothing wrong per se about the dub, except the VA sound like people from Studio Ghibli. Which is fine. For a Studio Ghibli film, but, it just sounds off coming out of a funimation program.
Also, "Overlord" is worth a watch if you like darker animes.

I watch very few things in dub.
Hellsing, Cowboy Beebop, and anything from Studio Ghibli are my only exceptions, usually.I also watch My Hero Academia Season 1 in dub, but mostly to get my Mom to watch it, which worked. (I still prefer the Sub on that one though)

I messed up. I was doing so well trying to keep to my night shift schedule. Got laundry done, audited my PFS characters while playing my browser games. Went and cuddled with Cyz about fifteen minutes before she needed to get up.
Then I stayed in bed after she went to work.
Whelp, might be a tired night, but I figure I can make it with some caffeine. Maybe I grab a giant cup of soda at the theater tonight so the price isn't quite as exorbitant.

To be fair, it's a pretty nice mall.
I think it's been in a movie, or a TV show, or maybe a music video.
And I don't know if I was around when we lived in that house, I just know my mom always liked to talk about how we used to live there and then they bought us out, etc, etc.
If I did live there it was only during my infancy.

It had, quite honestly, one of the most incredible, edge-of-your-seat moments in any anime I ever recall seeing (Haruna's desperate plea that someone, anyone please save Makie as she sacrificed her life for her and the results. I still tear up. If I hadn't been sick with the flu, I would have been jumping up and down on my sofa, screaming my lungs out). It hit me. REALLY hard. And even as the silhouette appeared, I still had no idea what the heck was going on until I was already sitting up and risking self injury going, "OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!!"
I woke up Impus Minor.
I loved most of the characters, and most of the interactions. But oh gods, Hyuga's WAY over-the-top crush on Iona and Takao's almost-as-bad one on Gunzo were just openly painful to watch. The childish raunchy sex humor in an otherwise excellent series really lowered it a notch in my mind.
Which brings me to...
So it's really a question of, "Is there anything new here? Is there anything good here?"
No, there's nothing new. The entire series is a retread of stories already told. "Oh, in a land where everyone can use magic, this kid can't. Oh, wait! His special power is that he can negate magic. Isn't that amazing?"
Er, maybe. In the first dozen variations or so...
"Wait, wait! I'll get you! Because his talents are so unusual, he ends up in a group of ragtag losers like Fairy Tale Seven Deadly Sins Name-Your-Trope-Of-The-Week."
I... might have seen that one, er... once or twice before.
Black Clover succeeds because it's telling a tale everyone already knows, and it knows it's telling such a tale, so it focuses on characters, and story, and interesting side quests. I really can't think of any aspect of the series that surprised me, but there I was, rooting for the good guys, cursing the bad guys, getting the adrenaline rushes when I was supposed to be getting the adrenaline rushes, etc.
So Black Clover is a totally derivative work, with all of its major plot points and character ideas done at least a dozen times over the years, but good writing and voice acting had me riveted. That's pretty darned impressive work.
So I'm not willing to call it a "great" series, but Impus Minor and I both found it VERY good, and we already have a "date night" for Monday when the next episode comes out.
EDIT: Yes. I'm making minor edits. The Haruna scene. I mean, gods. The Haruna scene. I'm a Paladin of Erastil. Watching it was like getting repeatedly punched in a sensitive spot with a heavy blunt bronze object.

** spoiler omitted **I'd have rated it, "Good, borderline great", but those shenanigans were SO out-of-character and SO distracted from the main storylines of hatred, revenge, and redemption that it just lowered it a notch into a solid "good" for me.

the reveal in arpeggio was a low blow. That one got me. I was a bit suspicious in the moments leading up to it- and then it made sense why she was SO DUMB.

Honestly I've been bumming off when he runs maps in Path of Exile, I'm not sure how effective my character really is... I've been running maps with him for so long I get nervous running maps solo by myself.

Tequilia sunrise: I just got the daily quest to beat 5 dungeon run bosses. This is gonna be so fun!
And yesterday I molten reflectioned an Antonidas and Antonidased a pally with fireballs. Huge xplosions FTW!
Which reminds me I should get to preparing Strange Aeons Book 5 maps soon... I try to stay a book ahead of the group.
