I heard something about a lack of internet connection?

They've been pretty thin on the ground, lately.

Anyway, I'm off to bed, sweet zombie apocalypse dreams all.

Crazy people in upside down land. Although, I half feel like going back to bed myself. Coffee is slow to go down, this morning.

Gotta gotta get up to get down!

Jump around! Jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump!
Jump around! Jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump!

Good morning! :D

When I got up last night to check the house during the storm, I found that one of the wings had blown off of my Dewi Sri that hangs on the balcony. The good news is that I found her wing this morning down in the ground covering. Let's hear it for flying BttH!

Good morning. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I am afraid that if I did as your singing dictates, I would turn into a fountain of coffee and vile stomach fluids.

I am making plans (i.e. saving up cash) to attend next year. So I have some questions for those who have been there/done that (or Paizo employees), so to speak....

1. Starts on a Thursday, correct?
2. Has it been the same hotel the last two years? If so, which one?
3. What is the cost of the tickets for the Con?
4. I've heard the banquet is separate, so how much for those tickets as well?
5. When do these tickets go on sale?
6. When will the dates for the next one be announced?
7. What is your name?
8. What is your quest?
9. What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

2. Coast Bellevue, but there has been discussion that the venue may change for next year - we may be growing too large for that establishment.

I gotta admit, I'm more concerned about the unpleasantness of internally experiencing such an event...and the aftermath.

And for sure we are too big for the bar staff.

Whereas I am one of those people who have trouble keeping Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror separate all the time.

I've never understood why sci-fi and horror together. I understand how the two might cross over a bit (Alien, Event Horizon), but I still feel that there's a pretty big difference between Batteries Not Included and Hellraiser.

I think it's because it hard to keep sci-fi distinct from fantasy and hard to keep horror separate from fantasy. For literary purposes, I would prefer to have an agreed upon, inclusive category. "Speculative Fiction" doesn't work well as a title for it.

I don't get that at all. I mean, look at Star Wars. You have guys wielding glowing swords and throwing around magic lightning... Oh wait...

Yep, they are having computer issues, I thought I saw Solnes post on FB that it would be at least another week.

According to Wikipedia, "Speculative fiction is an umbrella term encompassing the more fantastical fiction genres, specifically science fiction, fantasy, horror, supernatural fiction, superhero fiction, utopian and dystopian fiction, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction, and alternate history in literature as well as related static, motion, and virtual arts."

With that kind of breadth, why wouldn't Mystery be included, as you speculate on how crimes could be committed and detected? Also, it assumes that speculation is the main activity by so naming it. I think Mythopoeia is a better category term.

Downdraft was enough for me to figure it out. Otherwise, I would have assumed that you had been catching and skinning rabbits.

I've got to thank Urizen for suggesting RockMelt. It's been helpful in keeping up with you guys without being on the site.

Also, apparently, he's the only one who would have appreciated my comment about CH. :P

Oops, apparently Ambrosia Slaad liked the comment too. :)

Hehe. Nah, the link was for our International FAWTLies. They might not get to enjoy the goodness of a coney.

I heard that a bunch of ex-Detroit Hollywood types are getting together and opening a Coney Island in California. Community service is still alive! Hehe

Windows Updates Settings. Set for Prompt Me

I could not find a prompt me choice, but I did find a "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" and a "Download updates but let me choose whether to install them". I'm not sure which would be better.

My biggest gripe is that windows often auto restarts the system after installing updates in the middle of the night, and it closes everything I have open without saving the work.

Any recommendations for which of the above settings would be better in the "Choose how Windows can install updates" menu?

I'd go for Check for updates but let me choose. It will prompt you when it finds updates.
