Orthos wrote:Yep, that's my natural sleep schedule as well. But even when I have to get up at 7, I can't get to bed before 1 or 2. And earlier than that...well, I just plan on naps. Going to bed at midnight required too much medication. And melatonin does bad things to me. 1 mg of melatonin knocks me out like a light for a minimum eight hours. Not in a good way. In the if I happen to conk out in the hallway that's where I'll sleep and no one can wake me kind of way. Apparently I must not produce much of this stuff naturally...lynora wrote:That was how I was before I had to be up for 8 AM jobs. Back when I either wasn't working or was working second-shift, I'd crash around 2-4 AM and sleep til 10 or 11. That seems to be my natural sleep cycle; pushing it back to midnight is about the earliest I seem to be able to manage.Orthos wrote:See, I think they're weird for going to bed so early. But then I'm another night owl and have learned to function on very little sleep when I am forced to get up before the hideous light of the day star crosses the horizon. And I see nothing natural about this whole diurnal business...especially when it starts about the time I want to be going to bed. :)Drejk wrote:Apparently being unable to fall asleep until midnight or later is considered strange by the majority of the population. No offense taken.
My normal up-time is 7. This week however it's 5 - 6 is when I have to be at the office >_<
my usual pattern is sleep from half past nine to half past 5, I normally wake up just before the alarm rings
on holyday (like this week) it usually is 10:30 to 8but with a 7month old, there is no usual pattern anymore :-)

ebon_fyre wrote:Good luck with the new position when it starts. It sounds like you made a good decision. So, after much deliberation, I've decided to apply for/accept the offer presented to me by one of the high schools here. They're willing to "hire" me now, pending completion of classes, with availability to start in January.
It's not with my first choice. I have little/no respect for the person who will be my direct supervisor. (I know too much about her, since she used to work under my dad. Stunts she pulled, poor teaching practices, etc. I hope she's matured, but we'll see.) BUT, it's a job. Something I haven't had in 6 years. And it's a foot in the door with the district. I can always transfer schools if I feel the need to.
+1 Good luck!

ebon_fyre wrote:Damn. And of course, OF COURSE, after making this decision... I get a call from my university. My new advisor (since my old one switched jobs) says that he doesn't think he's allowed to schedule my classes as I had previously discussed. Meaning he thinks I won't be able to finish until FEBRUARY 15 instead of Jan 19.
ARGH.

However, GM got grumpy with us players for dithering around: so our PC's got captured and locked up in a force cage (again)

I know I need to handle well-wishes better. I'm... not good at it.
I dunno, man, your response looked fine to me. Here, take this Chillaxe, and try to enjoy the friendly atmosphere. :)
Also, good to know I'm not the only new face worrying about that sometimes. No one's kicked us out yet, we're probably in the clear. :P
You both seem like kinds folks, and I'm glad you are here. :)

In other news, I finally - after three weeks of waiting, and calling them up yesterday to gripe - received my consumer report from the credit company. Not that I'll be able to do anything about it until late tonight.
In better news, I also have put in for some "unclaimed funds" the county claims they have in my name. Not sure how long that'll take to get processed, but it's apparently my mutual funds from when I was little that were supposed to get used for college; it's about $2200 that'll likely now go to paying off this standing debt and a few months of rent once I can move out.
Good luck!

I just completed a brief phone screen for a job near Detroit. I have another phone interview for a job near Chicago. I have a face to face to interview for a job near Houston on Thursday.
All good, except I really am waiting for a callback for a second interview for another job near Houston that sounds really great. Fingers crossed.

During the school year, my sleep schedule is 11pm - 5am (or 5:30 if I'm lucky). Otherwise, it's usually midnight to 7 or 8.
That said, I typically wake up 3-5 times a night. It's not the kiddo that causes this. I've been like this longer than I can remember.
