Yes. All of our web functionality it work is screwy. I've been taking calls all afternoon that sound like this. "I'm trying to use your website, but it's not working." "Yes, it's down." "Can you look up this information for me?" "No, it's down for me too." Repeat ad nauseum. The monotony is getting old.

heh heh

@ CH
That makes for a crappy day.

Anyway, I have "rediscovered" just how incredibly bad the WotC editing had gotten before the Saga Edition of Star Wars was released. The screw ups in the Dark Side Sourcebook are unbelievably bad and in unbelievable supply.

Supposedly, one binge drinks while the other stays comfortably intoxicated most of the time. Which is which, I can't remember.

I am listening to the song ‘Legal Man’ by Belle & Sebastian. Funny how things work out, isn’t it?

Somebody left a pecan pie in the breakroom. My afternoon just improved considerably.

Sorry to hear about your co-worker, BP.

Scarab Sages

Mrgh. Had to leave work a bit earlier than planned because the boy threw up at daycare. He seems to be ok now, but the nurse from the doc's office said to be sure to ease him back into eating, first with some boob juice/water/etc. Then move up to other stuff if he seems to be doing well.

So, it looks like I'll be staying home with him tomorrow.

Not to mention the whole thing threw off our dinner plans. The wife luckily had some leftover pizza. Me....not so much.

Liberty's Edge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2012

I hope Charlie feels better soon. Sorry you dinner plans got disrupted.

Scarab Sages

Not as sorry as some poor schmuck's skull is going to be.....:)

Liberty's Edge

Oh, I had this quite disturbing dream last night. I don’t remember many details, at least not in any logical, linear fashion, but it involved a long train journey, camping, a steep dirt road through a wooded area at twilight, creatures that looked human but had really oversized red hands with long sharp claws like kitchen knives, and

Spoiler:
a wasting disease that caused the flesh to rapidly whither then flake off in black ashes, leaving behind bones covered in dry, dark red gore which in turn quickly rotted away.

There was one particularly disturbing image in the dream of an attractive young woman in a blue bikini who had contracted the disease. All that was left of her right arm was a bone stub about 4 inches long, covered in dry gore, and the disease had eaten away all her flesh along the right side of her upper torso to the ribs.

There’s probably something seriously wrong with me ... or I have just been watching too much of American Horror Story right before I go to bed ...

*spoilered for grossness.

Sorry to hear it AZ, it’s rough when the kids are sick.

But...you have Keltic ancestry, not Seltic! Who the hell even knows what that is!?

Ah the hard C soft C controversy - Either is valid but the hard C preferred and true to the linguistic origin (the ancient Greek word Keltoi).

Either doesn't mean that!

There is definitely something wrong with me. Yup.

Because either means one or the other? It can also be used to mean one and the other, both – both meanings are correct to my understanding, and the second meaning appears more true to the origin of the word.

But I don't need to tell you that Professor Higgins!

Guess what I did today?

Iambic pentameter!

And yes ... you guessed it ... in three languages!

I know, I know. I'd be envious too.

Hello FAWTLies!

It’s Friday here, tonight is game night. We will be picking up our CotCT campaign after a hiatus of about a month and a half. Should be good, we have just busted a potentially important figure to the rebellion out of prison under Castle Korvosa and are absconding through the sewers with the aid of our wererat ally ... and who said Lawful paladins couldn’t break the law?

Lots more Grey Maidens to kill.... Still not 100% sure what our next move should be though.

Mmhmm. It was hard. And I can't believe I missed the question about Stephen Hawking. I just couldn't think of his name.

Silver Crusade

I won't get a score for it. I just get contacted if they want me to try out in person for the show.

Start wearing a kilt.

The Irish invented the kilt and then gave it to the Scots, who haven't gotten the joke yet.

OK, legitimate adult question here:

Spoiler:
I'm back at school living in a student apartment with another dude. He's a really good guy, and takes care of the apartment while I basically just stay in my room and read. Unfortunately, he (and to a much greater extent, his friends) smoke pot. So much that I'm almost getting a contact high while I'm writing this.

In addition, my girlfriend's going to be staying with us for a few days next month, and she's deathly allergic to marijuana and hemp.

I'm at a loss for what to do--I really don't know how to handle this. I want to let him do his own thing, since this is literally the only thing that he does that bugs me. On the other hand, the shit f$@#ing reeks, and I don't want my girlfriend to end up in the hospital.

Taking suggestions as of now.

Not sure man, but

Spoiler:
if this guy is truly a good guy, I’d think he’d be cool and lay off the weed for a few days leading up to and during your GF’s stay if you explain the situation to him – yeah? Not sure what to do about it longer term though. Don’t know how the student apartment thing works out your way, can you request a move to another place or something? Assuming the smell of pot starts to outweigh the good points to living with this dude.
Liberty's Edge

For Sebastian.

Be straight up with the guy... Ask him if he could take it elsewhere wile your GF is about. Explain that she has a medical condition that could put her in hospital. If he is a good guy he will take it elsewhere.

Also give him a bit of forewarning if the GF will be visiting.

Boring rant:

So a new building code has come into effect here recently that amongst other things includes new provisions for designing for people with physical disabilities. Some of the changes include wheelchair accessible bathrooms need to be bigger than they previously did, you need more of them than previously, and the access requirements for buildings have changed.

Now I’m all in favour of not discriminating against people, but it seems like it is getting to the point of the ridiculous. I’m designing a refurbishment to a run-down theatre. There are existing bathrooms in the main foyer, but due to the changes (and various other reasons) we can’t fit in all the ones required, so we are putting the required accessible bathrooms on the main level and creating a new basement level below which contains the standard male and female bathrooms. However, the new code says that ANY level that contains bathrooms MUST contain a wheelchair accessible bathroom, so we need to put one downstairs even though we already have the required number for the building upstairs. Further, any level that contains a wheelchair accessible bathroom needs to be served by an elevator (not just stairs). There is no elevator in the building, so now we need to put one in to get to this floor.

The building is on a steep street, there is one doorway (the main entry) that has level access from the street, but there are four more doorways around the building that give access from the street via stairs. Now the new code says that a minimum of 50% of the entrances to a building need to allow for wheelchair access, so we either need to install ramps to two of the other doorways or brick them up so that no one can use them (planning to do the later). Because there are going to be SOOO many people in wheelchairs using this building all the time. In an area where 75% of the people are University students.

It just seems really stupid. There is a way around it, we can pay an accessibility consultant a few thousand dollars to write an alternate solution report which will justify us not taking some or all of these measures ... but how frustrating to pay someone to justify something that is just common sense.
