Sorry to hear the sad news Taig and C-Jack.

In other news, the Texas fires near my work seem to be 85% contained although the uncontained part is in my county. I'm still seeing bits of ash floating around my plant. One of my employees was in the middle of moving, and lost her old house. She has not been able to get in to see what's left.

Sympathies. Saw some news coverage of that at lunch. So much devastation.

Clothes are overrated.

I am feeling particularly mean today. It is best I do not go to some threads.

Spoiler:
Your post was quite tame.

I just am surprised that with a thread title like that, how it devolved into Shakespear bashing instead of the obvious...

Welcome back! I hope you had a great vacation!

Bryce had a good day at school! :)
These are rare and happy occasions.

Also sorry for not posting more. Lately I have been wandering around in a fog of fatigue. Trying desperately to adjust to the school schedule. So if I missed anything in the last two days, sorry. I read it, but couldn't process it. For some silly reason my brain wants sleep in order to function. If I were getting more sleep I could get my homework done faster. But if I got my homework done faster I could get more sleep....

I finally got my tv hooked up for Xfinity on demand and the first free movie I watched was 976-Evil. It rocked!

Right there with you. I've had this cold thing for about a week. It's almost bad enough to stay home, but since I don't get benefits right now, it would essentially cost me to stay home. So by the time I get home, the family is lucky to get an "Evening" from me before I ... THUD...

Yeah. Feeling achy and crabby and not to monkey-frolicky ATM

The weather isn't helping. Earlier this week it was well over 80 and dry. Today it barely got over 60 and it is wet and overcast. The heater will be coming on tonight with a low of around 45.

I wonder if the ski slopes will open earlier this year...

Hey Freehold! I know you hate Alton, so I figure you might like this cooking guy, Henry Philips. I can't wait to make his "Henry's Anytime Chili for One."

Please don't be distracted that he looks a little like Alan Tudyk.

Well, that could have gone better.

She can be an indentured servant.

She's pretty good at laying on her back and "cleaning".

Dumb question, are some languages spoken intrinsically louder?

I know a lot of people who speak Chinese (mostly Cantonese and Mandarin speakers) and you hardly ever hear those languages spoken quietly. Sometimes I’ll hear one side of a phone conversation, and not being able to understand more than a handful of words or phrases or see the other person I don’t know what the context is, but from the tone of voice and volume of speech I assume it is a heated argument ... after they hang up I’ll ask my friend what they were arguing about and I’m told ‘no, it wasn’t an argument, we were just talking’.

I have heard Cantonese spoken very softly, so it appears not to be an inherent part of the language. From my (very) limited understanding, tone and inflection is probably more important than in English, and what seems (to me) to be a very slight variation in pronunciation makes something a completely different word (or nonsense). Based on that, I would surmise that whispering or speaking very softly might make speech more difficult to understand than it would in English for example.

But as I don't speak it, I'm really just guessing.

Awesome!

On a more serious note, not to get political in this thread, but I completely support this strike action, I hope something is achieved.

Dammit a busker was playing the Blackadder theme tune when I was on my way back from lunch, it's stuck in my head now, that and a thousand quotes from the show.
It could be worse I suppose I could have Kyle Minogue's "Can't get you out of my head" stuck in my head.
