Very true. There is, however, a Wal-Mart in far Plano (or was it Frisco?) that was amazingly swanky. Belgian ales.

Now we just gotta get Ray Kurzweil, Gibson, the R&D teams, and marketing department of Sony in the same room for more than a couple hours.

Let kidlet eat his cake before dinner. He chose lemon cake with lemon frosting. The downside being that I listened to him about the extra frosting. Blech. You have to scrape off half the frosting before it's even edible. I can feel the sugar coma starting already.
Was planning to take him to the movies tonight, but not sure what to go see. Kung Fu Panda 2 is already done at the theater. Green Lantern would be way too scary for him. That leaves X-Men and Transformers. He loved the first Transformers movie, but I'm a little concerned this one might be too old for him. And X-Men is probably too old for him. Decision, decisions.

Evening FAWTLiers (or morning or afternoon as the case may be)

Had an excellent day. Got in my first bike ride in years and quite enjoyed it. Did 8 miles without a problem and went to the gym straight after. I do love early shifts sometimes. It is a gorgeous start to the weekend out here in Old Cape Cod. MSNBC even had someone reporting live from Hyannis whilst I was doing the crosstrainer talking about economy and tourism (did you know that 40% of the US population lives within range of a daytrip to Cape Cod? Eek) We supposedly are the 'discount alternative' to pricey vacations. Yay.

Anyway, off to tend my garden and my PbPs. I'll catch y'all in a bit

GL too scary for him? I don't see it, but then again I was a scaredy cat as a kid myself, so it's possible. I'd say go with Transformers(which I also need to see!) as X-Men is definitely waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too old for him.

Thanks for the heads up on X-Men. I saw Green Lantern and while like 90% of the movie would be fine for him there are some sequences that were pretty likely to inspire nightmares. I have enough trouble keeping him in bed after bedtime already. >.<

And I'm not recommending anyone see Transformers 3. The reviews have been pretty universally awful: not as bad as TF2, but not by much.

Cars 2 is waaaaaay too young for my 8 year old who is trying so hard to be more grown up. :)

(He's been over the whole Cars thing for a good long time now. It's all about spaceships and robots for the last three years.)
He actually decided to bail on the movie. He was worried that Transformers might be too scary and he said he wasn't that into the Transformers movies anymore. Not a huge surprise. He lost interest when we wouldn't let him see Transformers 2. So we owe him a movie sometime this summer.
