Or maybe they just had some very, very severe digestive problems.

EDIT: Yes, nurse, I'm ready for my examination.

...and now someone just started playing "desk drums".

Do they not even listen to the call? It's pretty darned easy to hear your own noises...

That's nothing, every time I'm expecting a call they call when I'm on the toilet.

And it's almost always something I have to pick up. :-(

Both these posts are screaming out for an Animaniacs reference. But, I can't think of one that could be applicable to both of them, so I'm just going to do the first one.

"HEEELLLLOOO NURSE!!!"

Well, my favorite part about the whole thing is that the guy hosting the meeting muted everyone except the meeting organizers.

It turned out the culprit in the vacuuming incident was the person who arranged the entire 50-person meeting in the first place. And whoever was doing the desk drums? Another of the organizers.

If you can't be quiet when hosting your own meeting, should you really be hosting it?

So, last night in the kids' Serpent's Skull game, they finally encountered a situation where going in "guns blazing" was really not a good idea.

The thing that breaks my heart, and yet has me laughing so hard there are tears in the corner of my eyes, is that as they raced through the cave killing everything in their path, their resident grippli barbarian Malek very carefully instructed his froghemoth "mate" Bara to not eat the dead ogre magi.

He provided no such instructions as to the potion-rich dead boggards.

Bara's gonna be full of potiony boggard goodness as the party encounters her while fleeing abject destruction.

Oughta be hilarious.

What The F. that makes me want to ask so many questions that you don't have the answer for.
Clearly someone doesn't like solar.
I think the only fair response to that is to sacrifice them to the sun.
Unfortunately (or possible fortunately) I wasn't there to hear it myself, but my parents told me that an acquaintance of theirs (friend of a friend kind of thing) told them that she was vehemently opposed to both wind and solar power because "All those turbines and solar panels will use up all the wind and sun. Then what will we do?" And she meant it.

Urge to slap rising...

Tell your mom I expect her to slap the tar out of the person next time she sees them.

Phrased it for you.
(Hey mom random person on the internet says you should slap X next time you see them) Fill X with persons name.

Wut I don't even

...Yeah, that woman needs to be told to stop reading anti-renewables fake news.

On the phone with Shiro's sun, we learned that it snowed in Truckee last night.

A good sign for the winter, or just a freak storm?

Who knows? Captain Yesterday's freakish winter alias, that's who!

EDIT: Aaaand... Impus Minor came out of his room and promptly said, "Dad, I'm going to be in my room. Where it's warm."

Yes, but just like people who buy whole geodes at rock shops in order to break them open, Shiro's whimsy extends to only buying Red Giants so he can see what kind of nebulae they form.

There is, however, only so much wind energy to go around. You can only take out so much energy per area. It is marginal today, but with a massive expansion, would we notice?

I don't know, but if you get enough of those wind farms going in the same direction and you'll change Earth's rotation!

Just writing that made my fingers try to break themselves in protest.

I once worked with a human of low wattage that insisted that we could just keep the hurricanes away with giant fans on the coast line. He just didn't understand why we were immediately laughing at him. Certainly not with him. Definitely at him.

Hurricanes to electricity would probably fry the electric grid.

Which means that, when the sun dies, we'll be able to point all the wind turbines one way and fly off to a glorious shiny future orbiting Betelgeuse! We're saved!

I kinda hate you right now. (Not really...just a bit of jealousy really :P) Yesterday it was 92. Today it's 89 and temps still rising. Yesterday afternoon the smoke detector in the building foyer started going off because of the heat. It hasn't gone off yet today, but I think they just took the battery out. This would be miserable weather in August. In September it's just cruel. Heck, the school superintendent sent out an email today about how the school system is dealing with the extreme heat, and basically telling parents they have permission to take their kids home early if they're in buildings without air conditioning. Which most of them are. The kidlet's school is the newest building in the system and it's only partially air-conditioned. Seriously, we are about as prepared to deal with heat as folks in Atlanta are to deal with snow.... >.<

Edit: welp smoke detector went off again as soon as the temp hit 90..,

Ah, nothing like understanding the gargantuan forces involved in simple construction, and using excess materials to combat them.

As I mentioned, I stood up a 10' pressure-treated 4"x4" to hold up my gate. Having no backing, I need the thing to be unmovable. So it's embedded in the concrete with a 1/2" steel bolt. I just leveled it with 5-6 shims, then filled every crevice with about 1/2 cup of foundation epoxy.

if that thing can't stand up straight, I don't know what can...
Winces at obvious opening for Freehold...

Been in the 90's all week here. Wednesday featured a fire alarm at work. One of the law offices burned some popcorn, so 2 police vehicles, 6 fire trucks, and a fire investigation unit was on scene inside of 15 minutes while we all stood out in the high humidity 93 degree fun. Felt like 106. And no, I'm not kidding. Just some burned microwave popcorn. I don't even work for them, but I'm sure the building management will recommend they ask me to look at their microwave since that's what an IT guy is for. [/sarcasm, which I hopefully didn't really need to do, but there's a reason I have stories about people asking me for wasp spray]

It's the first one day of fall, so of course it's 90 degrees outside.

Not complaining.
