Probably, but maybe not as much as we might first expect...

I find physics fascinating and wish my disdain of math hadn't kept me from pursuing it as a major.
If I could remember the name of my Algebra 2 teacher who gave a ton of homework because she felt block scheduling warranted it, thus just burning me out from repetition (I always aced tests but got a C in the class because I skipped homework), I would send her a letter hoping to make her feel guilty that he possibly doomed me to obscurity single handedly. Sadly, social sciences are a dead end, but it was all I could do without heavy math.
Seriously, I used to like math. Now I have a Pavlovian hatred. I get it. I just hate it so much. Like...Michael Scott's hatred of Toby. It's irrational and visceral and pure.
yes..give in to your anger... Math is unarmed. Strike it down with all of your hatred, and your journey the the Freehold side will be complete!

And here I thought you were a kind, merciful, reasonable one, badger.
I recommend you start at the beginning. It's slower back then, but there's lots of neat character development on the way, and it's never a fast-paced comic...
Hilarious! Just what I imagined the Rehab facility for Video Game characters would be like. :)

I am sometimes Bad.
Don't get me started about the wizard in my campaign who wants to be allowed to write his own scrolls so he can afford more of them. I read Ezren's backstory again and told him that every time he used one of his own scrolls I was going to roll a d12 for possible amusing scroll failure.
After all, a d12 needs to feel useful, too.
?????
I feel like I am seriously missing some context here, because as presented it looks like player is asking to use their own class feature as intended and it's somehow a bad thing? Admittedly I have no knowledge of any pregen characters since we don't use them. Or even golarion. Tried it, didn't work for our group. So I may be lacking some basic info on why this was a bad idea.lisamarlene |

Ilynora, NH and I are talking about the same person who (a) always plays wizards, (b) is an unconscionable mini-max-ing pain-in-the-arse, (c) drives all the other players insane with metagaming arguments about what he should or should not be permitted to do, and (d) happens to be my husband.
The pre-gen character Ezren is self-taught and didn't start learning until he was well into adulthood and none of the academies would take him. So I said it was only reasonable that there should be a 1-in-12 chance of spell failure on scrolls he writes himself.NobodysHome |

Adding to lisamarlene's comments: Her group plays out of the Beginner's Box, and wizards don't get Scribe Scroll under that ruleset.

Yeah, I'm afraid he's the one I've talked about before. This week's madness was classic, "Emotional vs. intellectual reaction".
I sent a very detailed e-mail about how much I disliked arguing over interpretations of rules, or having my players ask what was available, responding, and then having them argue that they should get more.
Before we even got in a session after I'd sent the mail and gotten an apology, we got:
Player: I'd like to buy these scrolls and sell these items. And where could I get scrolls higher than 4th level?
GM: Yes, you can sell the items. Yes, all the scrolls you listed are available. No, scrolls of higher than 4th level are not available, and the nearest city where you could buy them is 1000 miles away, and you've never been there. (GMSpeak for, "It's an intentional limitation of the AP.")
Player: Well, obviously I can pay someone who's been there to describe it for me, or I can examine murals of it in the library, so I can obviously get an image of that city and get there.
At which point you want to throw up your hands and scream, "What part of, 'Stop asking for more' did you NOT understand?!?!?!"
It's unfortunate, because in this case his argument is reasonable. If it were any other player I'd have allowed it without thinking about it. But because it's him, I have a gut-level emotional response where I want to just say, "No," and send out a reminder that such requests are likely to kill the campaign before it finishes.
But we loves us some lisamarlene, so we're trying to avoid unnecessary friction, so we'll just wrap up this AP (already in Book 5) and then say, "Yeah, let's find something to do that DOESN'T involve gaming together."

It's been many a moon since we used the Beginner's Box. We made a few characters and ran through the first adventure and then Pea Bear said "now I want to be a Catfolk, and a Ninja, and a pirate!"
Alas, Skull and Shackles was delayed, so Catalina Shadows her Catfolk Ninja had to settle for Jade Regent. :-)

So, good news everybody... my Eldest vomited this morning! Twice! Also the other stuff!
... dang it.
But the "good" here really is - it suggests that our youngest just simply was getting the germ over and over. Like, every time I stepped foot into my Eldest's school.
:/
WELP. LET'S FIRE UP THE CLOTHES WASHER. AGAIN.
(Poor dear hasn't had a rest.)
Yeah, except for now I'm starting to look at the Beginner's Box with the same eye that Nemo gives Marlon when he asks "Why don't you go play on the sponge beds?"
That's where *I* would play...

We are pondering introducing her to Impus Major and letting them conquer the world together.
Then we come to our senses.
EDIT: And for those who don't read the Serpent's Skull thread, last night Impus Major's grippli barbarian, riding his froghemoth wife, demanded "beautiful women" from the boggards.
One was brought forth, at which point the jealous froghemoth promptly ate her.
Impus Major just blinked twice, then said, "Well, OK, that happened. Moving on..."

In two months she'll be thirteen! Suddenly all those vague threats of "I'm almost a teenager!" she's been making since she was two are all too real.

I love you guys. You're great...!
My neighbors weren't home when I first posted that, but that has since* changed - one of my most awesome neighbors is actually running to the store for us.
(She is awesome enough that she wanted to cover it for us, but I had some cash, so, nope. Her kids are some of the best - they are teens who will actively go out of their way to teach my two-and-five-year-old basketball. I... really want my children to be as good as hers are. :D)
EDIT: dang it. I can think faster than I can type.

For those that have Netflix.
Do they have SpongeBob? And if they do, like how much?
There are very few things that will break my Netflix embargo.
Copious amounts of SpongeBob is one of those.
Also if they add new episodes of Fargo the day after they air.
edit: There's opposite sides of the spectrum right there! SpongeBob and Fargo. :-)

If it helps Tacticslion, every time Tiny T-Rex eats something he doesn't like his gag reflex kicks in and if we don't get him something to wash it down there's a big mess. :-/
Hopefully, the little guy gets over it soon, whatever it is.
Having a sick kid is the worst torture any parent can feel. Especially when you don't know what it is.

Seems to be some sort of freely-shared bug of some sort, the way it bounces between my family.
Anyway, you know your five year old is sick when, instead of doing anything else, like running, jumping, or playing video games(!), he really wants to sit in your lap...!
(Well, now he also wants to play video games, but it was shocking for a few moments!)

No. Spongebob is not on Netflix. OTOH it DOES have Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Sense8, and a few others. IT is $10 a month for streaming. DVDs cost extra. IMHO it is well worth the cost.

Back during the 3.5 era, I briefly ran a core-only campaign for a group of new players, thinking it'd get their feet wet without overloading them with option bloat. Within a week of being exposed to the many splats though, they were asking me why they couldn't use them and saying "I have this great idea for a summoner class..."
To this day I've known exactly one player who experiences indecision due to option 'bloat,' and I've come to the belief that a major factor in D&D/PF's success is all the gonzo things that players can play when their DMs let them.

Can we as a group make a rule set for this?
Might I recommend that two pegs in any direction represent five linear feet, and that any given two peg by two area represents the space a Medium creature occupies?

I think that makes sense.

Are we still on the Netflix thing? May I rant a bit?
Because I'm *STILL* pissed beyond measure that they took away Red Dwarf AND Doctor Who.
Which you can only get on Amazon Prime.
Which I refuse to pay for.
Gaaargh.
In fairness, that was not their decision, but rather was forced on them by the BBC.

Just steal Shiro's player's. Everyone else does! :-P
Or then again, maybe not... getting access to someone else's is the surest road to feeling like you need to order it yourself. We used his Amazon Prime for maybe 6 months (hard to call it "stealing" when he was always over watching it with us), then realized we REALLY needed it for ourselves for Christmas so we could get free 2-day shipping for all the stuff for the kids.
And now we are utterly addicted.
Curse you, Amazon Prime!
