Yes. Yes. Yes! YES!

Also, get the third game. It improves the storyline so much!

Ok. I was wondering. I will probably pick it up on the Christmas sale since we are getting low on funds.

They do! Actually, they never seemed unfriendly. :)

I still have cassette tapes with programs for my old Atari 130 XE around.

Spoiler:
And the Atari 130 XE on a shelf... No wonder if it even works. I don't have a suitable TV set to connect it and check.

Alignment Stuff:

Oh, I just notified my "problem player" that I'd like to shift his alignment from Good to Neutral.

I really don't understand him. In EVERY game he plays, he wants to torture and execute all prisoners, cheat all NPCs, hoard all the party loot for himself, not help anyone who won't pay for it...
...and then he wants to be "Good" on his character sheet for... reasons?

I know he's going to explode at me, but eventually you get really tired of, "Yeah! Let's torture him! It'll be FUN!"
"What you do mean, that's not 'Good'?!?!?"

(It's important because they're about to enter a dungeon crawl where alignment matters. What's hilarious is that he'll be much safer as a Neutral PC than a Good one, so I'm actually granting him a boon with this shift. And I know he's going to refuse to take it.)

I just realized far, far too late for this campaign how I SHOULD run Pathfinder. Every PC starts out with no idea what their alignment is. I keep track of their actions, and assign them alignments accordingly. The only time they know what their alignments are is when spells like Protection from Good affect them. Seems like this would allow all those alignment-based spells to still work without having to get into arguments with players as to how they wrote a 'G' on their character sheet, so just because they burned down the orphanage and ran off with the donation box doesn't mean Holy Word should hurt them...

Sorry to hear about your problem player.

I have a Pathfinder Society (Silver Crusade faction) character who is a CG rogue who started off his career murdering anything that opposed the party. He ended up purchasing a wand of detect evil so he could only murder evil things and just in case there wasn't a paladin to let him know.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's not the alignment system that's the problem.

If you're computer-savvy, it's PEBCSAT. (Problem exists between character sheet and table.)

Well, it's kind of nice because I know this is the LAST campaign I will ever have to run for him, so the end is in easy sight. And this campaign has honestly been pretty easy for me as a GM, because I decided I could try GMing him again after successfully wrangling a group of 11-to-16-year-olds into behaving at the table.

I treated him as I did my misbehaving 11-year-olds, and voila! Problems solved (for me)!

But he still takes 10-20 minutes per turn, pockets anything not nailed down, insists that no loot ever be shared with NPCs for any reason, and otherwise plays like you'd expect a spoiled 7-year-old to play. As a GM, it's easy to ignore. Though I have no idea why the other players haven't murdered him in his sleep yet.

And I get to unceremoniously dump him without any out-of-game social repercussions, so it's all good.

Trouble is, before that happens...

AP Spoiler:

They're going through Scarwall, where alignment matters, so I feel before nuking him into oblivion I should at least allow him to insist that he really is good.

You know you've had a good weekend when it's only Saturday afternoon and you're running out of chores you're willing to do around the house for the rest of the weekend.

Anyone else driven bolt holes into a foundation before? Seems like it ought to be a piece of cake: Big old hammer drill and a 3/4" bit.

But I tell you what it's no fun at all!

I'd say that players should note down their alignment at the start as a declaration how their character behaved up until the start of the game (or at least what kind of behavior dominated). Once that starts? The alignment is up to GM - it's not even guidelines about how character should behave (as it is up to player), it's the description how he behaved in the past and the associated aura of his actions if he is powerful enough. Nothing else.

The nice thing about being wildly overstocked in back is, I get to climb, balance, and swing amidst the tangles and canyons of boxes, as my monkey forebears did.

Thankfully I don't have to pick fleas off anyone.

Evolution is the best!

Okay, I have good news, bad news, and worse news.

Good news: While negotiating with Russia to allow my company to do some business there, my joke about strapping the leaders of both nations to the nukes went over very well!

Bad news: They hate their leaders more than we hate our's and thought I was serious.

Worse news: They lost the deactivation codes, and there were only so many times they could delay the launch.

Well, everyone, as I make some calls about fallout shelters, I would like you to enjoy this year's Christmas Theme Song

I had a kid for kiddie Kingmaker that would try s!!* like that. I told him I was going to keep tabs and if he did it enough I would change his alignment and he'd have to retire. So, every time he started to try to do something questionable, I'd pull out a little notebook and obvious to all make a check mark on a blank page.

I think I got maybe five check marks after that.

But, you know, kids learn. Adults, not as much. :-)

Trust me, the poop is the least disturbing thing that can talk at a toy store.

In the motion sensitive doll aisle, that's where madness lies.

So...

...my group is going to be doing World of Darkness next. With the GM that ran our Vaguely Asian Game of Thrones Legend of the Five Rings game.

It's a cavalcade of supernaturals working together (along with some mortals) investigating paranormal stuff. We've got a hunter, a vampire, a mage, a werewolf, and probably a changeling. Guess who's the vampire?

Now, if you paid attention to my recaps of L5R, I think you know what direction I have a feeling this will be going.

Best part? Takes place in Detroit, which is already a terrifying place to live if you're not taking any supernatural stuff into account.

But they aren't hoverboards, technically.

Speaking of "hoverboards" we have this big ass four foot high by six foot long display at eye level featured prominently in the front of the wheels dept that says "hoverboard central" with the tickets you take up to the front, and yet everyone still looks around then asks angrily "I thought you had "hoverboards" here!" to which I point out the display (often only a few feet away) and they're all like "where?"

I have to actually walk up to it and do the whole g**!@~n price is right model hand gestures in front of it.

What's the point of having eyeballs if you're not going to use them.

It's a one sided display. I think people are looking for the "hoverboards" themselves, even though we'd have to be some grade A idiots to put those things on the floor. People even try to ride the skateboards that have the plastic wheel lock on them.

Had a guy once ask if I'd assemble a big wheel just so his son could test it out before he bought it.

I asked if he was going to buy it if I did, and he said "probably, but not tonight, maybe on Wednesday" (it was Monday).

Yeah, okay.
