Sorry TOZ - as a Floridian, I would cry non-stop tears if my AC completely broke.

Well, except I'd need to save the fluid for my sweat.

I hate the heat so much.

Remember how all winter I was like "I LOVE FLORIDA" and I kept saying "Until summer..." So true.

At least you have a good friend!

I know desert heat at least isn't so bad in the shade, since it's dry, right? That's what my friends from California all say. Humidity sucks in the shade, too.

My prayers are with you, sir, for a speedy recovery and a local machine shop.

On the upside, my electrical usage was down about 60kWh yesterday.

Oof! Sorry about your AC, TOZ! Congrats on the lower bill, though...

Summertime always reminds me of a bit in the story Starfighters of Adumar, I think it was. Wedge Antilles exits a building into the baleful light of day and commands one of his fellow Rogue Squadron members to shoot down the sun. I wholeheartedly concur, and with greentea.

bugleyman took his wife out of town for the weekend, so we're sort of housesitting at the same time. :)

The problem with summer, it doesn't last nearly long enough.

Says the guy with seven months of winter.

LOL. When we were living in Davis, the weather trained us well. It would drop below 80 at about 11 at night, and get all the way down into the low 70's, or even on some miraculous eves we'd see the 60's. So it was, "Close the house down, close all the curtains, and seal up tight the moment the thermometer hits 78 in the morning. Wake up at 11 pm to open all the windows."

Our first year we were spending over $200/month on A/C. Once we figured out the open/close method we were down to $30/month. It was a wallet-saver!

(Says the man who's got all the windows open on a pleasant 65-degree day with a nice breeze coming off of the bay...)

EDIT: Of course, this was in a duplex with huge sliding windows on both sides of the house to create a nice cross breeze. A standard apartment building, with its tiny windows and limited ventilation, is a totally different animal.

So, we'll be in Disneyland all week, and we managed to keep our expenditures down (much to NobodysWife's displeasure, having discovered both Black Milk and Rivithead and therefore desperately needing new clothing).

Thus, if any FaWtLers will happen to be in SoCal, PM me and we can try to arrange lunch or dinner -- I'm buying! :-P

EDIT: Within reason, of course. If Freehold shows up with his Manly Clan of Infinite Carbage, there's no way I'm feeding 'em all!

(The park reopened juuuuussssst long enough for us to get inside before suspending all of its attractions. Well played, Weather. Well. Played.)

I wish I could relax this weekend... But NO... My boss has been covering up cash shortages by taking money from one account to cover another. That couldn't go on forever. He got caught. A big bank is now very upset... A big bank that I handle. My boss has been doing this for years. Our corporate masters are strangely silent on the matter and my boss has a history of lying to get out of trouble. It would be very easy for my boss to throw me under the bus and try to paint me as the problem. If he does then it will probably get me fired along with my various assistants over the years and anyone who handled one of the two big banks he has been playing shell games with.

So no relaxing for me till word comes down from the top and I see if I was sacrificed to save my boss.

Aranna, can you rat him out to HIS boss preemptively?

HOLY S&@~!

Aranna, I'm so sorry to hear that...that's awful! What are you going to do?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Do? I feel like a bunny in a mine field. I am paralyzed with uncertainty. But my boss's boss knows already. Anything I do might be wrong... I did do one thing though. I stopped using my charm to smooth things over for my boss. It may cost us a huge customer but I am afraid to help him.

No more Gravity Falls after Weirdmeggedon then?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm rather happy to live in the same town as my grandparents on most occasions, but today was not one of those times. My grandfather called me just as I was getting off work, and to make a long story short, I had to help carry/transport one of his dogs to be put down. I'm happy to help, but that's just a rough prospect period.

Nope. That's the series finale. One of the better series finales I've seen as well. Touches on all the right points in my mind.

Aaaaaand sitting here. In the rain.

(The park reopened juuuuussssst long enough for us to get inside before suspending all of its attractions. Well played, Weather. Well. Played.)

Finally home. We're all exhausted.

We got to the park just in time for all the attractions to shut down - not the park itself, it seems.

Thereafter, we enjoyed three and a half hours of thunderstorms, though it was on-and-off occasionally. At some point, I ate an exceptionally over-priced burger and grapes.

Finally, thirty minutes before the park closed, we were able to go in! (Only to two locations, but still! We only needed one!)

We played with wild abandon for... fifteen minutes. Then the lighting came back. But they were an AWESOME fifteen minutes! :D

Thereafter, we changed into dry clothes, and, as we walked out, we met a very kind security guard, and then got to play with the Dolphins (through plate glass - we weren't in the water or anything) for about fifteen minutes! I can totally understand how people can fall in love with such creatures: they were beautiful, fun, and extremely friendly (though I'm aware enough of various dolphin behaviors to still be wary of them, like any animal). It was an absolute delight - especially to my eldest.

We then headed out, drove home through really bad rain, and we're home safe. Half of the kidlets are asleep, and the other half is likely right behind. What a day!

I hope all you other FaWtLians have similar ends to your days - and, regardless of difficulties, get satisfying resolutions!

I don't see why not. They both have a thing for elaborate plots, conspiracies, swirling runes, and gold.

(Technically, illusion/pride, enchantment-necromancy/lust-gluttony (i.e. Possession), or divination would be better for Cipher... but greed is pretty solid. ;D)

It's absolutely being done, just gotta find the time, or possibly spend awhile in Mabeland to clear my head.

Just gotta figure out
- classes available
- equipment from the Technology Guide available (Grappling Hook!!)
- a map of the Gravity Falls area to incorporate all the Runelords elements
- names and comparisons between Gravity Falls and Sandpoint side characters.

Whew, and that's just off the top of my head. :-)

I have always hated the plastic man we got in the justice league. He will always be a comic relief character to me. I feel that the super serious characterization he has gotten in recent years is stuff that elongated man should have gotten- but he ended up getting one of the most disgusting storylines even conceived, despite how well written it was. But this is one of the only plastic man stories I have ever liked. It has everything.

As it happens, I literally just spoke with him last night via Steam (it was pretty late). He's doing well, but is really busy.

While I don't know how work is going (as far as I know, it's normal), as of last night, he has plans to convert over half-a-dozen APs and standalone adventures into a major thing for the RP server he's running for Neverwinter Nights. It's a lot of research and work. Also, he's been having a good life, last I heard, and took a pretty sweet vacation a bit back.

Also, also, once I finish a project, the plan is for me to email him and for him to link it here, on the forums.
