I don't care how tough the soles of your feet are, you look ridiculous, and it's disgusting and unhygienic.

the halflings in my campaign setting wear shoes. They are famous for them actually.

Hobbit feet are for Tolkien. Leave them with Tolkien. No, your setting is not more old school because Tolkien. It's more Tolkien because you are going Tolkien.

Even Golarion does it, though. All the art of halflings is without shoes.

Even in full plate, they've got no freaking boots on. It's f$+@ing ridiculous looking.

Just as ridiculous as I am with only shoes on.

So does anyone here play Borderlands or Borderlands 2? I know that both Freehold DM and I like the games. (He should. He got my X-Box 360 copies to play with.) I was thinking about starting a new playthrough on Steam.

Meh; BL and BL2 just seemed like a basic FPS with a little bit of Diablo injected into it. FPS is so frat-boy, and Diablo is my least favorite RPG series.

I hate fps myself, but something about the series really called to me.

There's probably a face-swap mod for the game, so he's modded the enemies' faces with JPGs of ABrown, Whedon, or any number of American voiceover artists who dub anime.

What?

I don't know. An indescribable something. I enjoyed the monsters and the NPCs and everything. I thought claptrap was funny and cute.

Going by the link Sharoth posted earlier, it'd be a Western RPG, with FPS elements.
(Also, going by that link, those Lahore are basically wrong.)

The thing with both Borderlands and Mass Effect, as I understand them, is that they are played for reasons closer to those RPGs are played than FPSs are.

Yesterday afternoon was an epic bit of hilarity that totally distracted me from work: Impus Minor decided he was going to start over in Dragon Age: Origins and play it over again.

Except...
(1) He was going to be the ugliest possible character he could create. He and Impus Major spent a good 45 minutes creating this bug-eyed, sunken-cheeked freak of nature who would be at home in only the lowliest of circus shows.

(2) He was going to choose the single-most-obnoxious response he possibly could. Every. Single. Time.

I have to say, Bioware did a magnificent job with the heuristic algorithms with such behavior, with quotes like (to the woman he just rescued): "Oh, you're still alive? Does that mean I still have to marry you?" or (exchanging pleasantries with the king): "I killed the earl for raping my cousin." Now THAT'S an ice breaker!

His responses are getting more and more vile. It's a joy to watch...

I don't get having 1d3 weapon damage, there is no three sided dice! "Just ignore the four" they say. Four is the best number on a four sided dice, do you know how frustrating it can be to roll four after four after four, and then they say "Oh, well, that's a three" It's clearly a four!

Just make a d3.

I bought some dice with removable faces. Take a d6 and number it 1 to 3 twice.

Use six-sided die. 1-2: 1, 3-4: 2, 5-6: 3, or halve the result of d6 and round up.

I have regular d6's form the 80's.

To this day, when it's time to roll up PC's for an important campaign, they always ACT like d3's.

Yeah I got them at Gen Con one year. The faces are printed on little disks that can be plugged into the die. You need a d6 numbered from 2 to 7 no problem just pop out the 1 and replace it with a 7.

Humility aside, and by God's good Grace, I'm pretty fit.

For a gamer of my age, I am extremely fit.

Then Gay Pride descends in the Hamptons and I feel like a short fat clumsy potato compared to these men who dress better than me and have more charm in their pinky than I have on my best suave day.

I don't have Gay hate. I have the opposite. I'm Gay jealous.

How come my butt does not look as good in these jeans!

Even simple attempt to pick me up and hold in the air ends in flailing, cursing, and grabbing whatever is within reach. Including but not limited to cleavage of the wife of guy holding me up.
