I could use another bag of s**% dirt though.

Great! Now I'm gonna get ANOTHER "no naked gardening" letter from the neighborhood association.

They just don't get gardening. :-/

I could sort you out with a very large quantity of compost, should you wish. Hurling it into the Midwest United States shouldn't be a problem if the trebuchet's big enough, after all.

I actually know a guy with one of those. Makes a killing at Halloween launching pumpkins with it. :-)

We could have a show called Produce Wars. Where one holes up in a historic castle, and the other has to lay siege with only produce to use in our homemade siege engines.

That sounds too dangerous. You could kill someone with a trebuchet launched pumpkin or watermelon.

You're just launching them at the castle. I'm not aiming for people. I see your point though.

Pike Wars maybe? Where you recreate historic European battles armed with fresh fish.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That... That I might watch. I could be funny.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It'd probably be funnier with fresh produce, and more eco friendly.

A banana! Did 'e just hit me with a banana!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, but fish smell awful, so it's more offensive to hit someone with it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm not trying to offend anyone. Just trying to faithfully recreate historic European battles as accurately as possible utilizing fresh fruits and vegetables. On someone else's dime.

Kumquats?

Raspberries?

Currants?

Lentils? Cheap, nutritious, plentiful lentils?

I'm eyeing the sweet delicious travel budgets networks have. Mmmm... free travel...

Ah, the painful beginnings of summer!

My bike's all prepped, so 2 weeks ago I made the 3/4 mile ride to Trader Joe's, filled both (large) bike bags to the bursting point, and successfully brought home around 80 pounds of groceries. Putting that much extra weight on a bike is... interesting. But the all-uphill trek home just wasn't that bad because I have a really, really low gear.

Today during lunch I dropped the Prius off for an oil change (yes, I am a Prius driver!), and biked the 2.5 miles home, which is mostly downhill.

And now I'm just sitting there thinking, "Aw, carp! At some point this afternoon I'm going to have to bike 2.5 miles UPHILL to get the car back!"

2.5 miles should be an easy WALK, much less bike ride, but there's always the post-winter-getting-in-shape period where such trivial endeavors end up being hard.

Bleah.

One of my 12 vegetarian dishes is a killer lentil curry. And it has the bonus that it's 100% vegan and gluten-free, so I can serve it to almost anyone...

...they just have to be able to tolerate the heat...

In my student days, my diet more or less consisted entirely of lentil curry and chickpea curry (12 tins for £1!).

I remember adding creamed coconut to the lentil curry worked well.

Just got a flyer in the mail: "The most trusted profession trusts Bernie."

I IM'ed NobodysWife: "I can understand why prostitutes would support him, but why would he want that on his flyers? And they could have gotten a better-looking model. This one looks all grumpy and has a stethoscope..."

She was nonplussed. "That's the world's oldest profession, dear..."

Hot peppers and tomatoes are planted, still need to sow seeds of corn and peas and plant the extra tomatoes and ambrosia (cantaloupe) melons.

All told I got 6 hot pepper plants, 10 tomato plants, 6 ambrosia melons, 2 seed packets and two bags of garden manure for less than twenty bucks. :-)

What varieties of tomatoes did you plant?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A mixed container of four, I'm pretty sure one was cherry and one was those pear shaped ones, and then six I can't remember, tastes good, high yield it said.

Forgot the hot pepper name too, medium heat I think, might get a couple more of a hotter variety.

The hot peppers were red on the picture I know that at least. :-)

Why not just say f&#+ it? Because it's Friday tomorrow and I love my wife enough to want her morning to go as well as can be.

That is patently false and outright dangerous misinformation, and it is absolutely vital that everyone be properly appraised of the true dangers. I'll let a trained master explain the dangers and how to counter them.

Also I'm angry because stupid family drama, and I need to write a term paper, and writing term papers angry is hard.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also I really want to work on a Worldbuilding project, but I just cannot spare the time, but my brain wants to do that and not the term paper.

It is a fun project. Typically I work with Fantasy Counterpart Culture America Circa Mid-20th Century, which is all well and good, but right now I'm working on Fantasy Counterpart Culture Germany Circa Mid-20th Century. Which means the 1940s, which logically means Fantasy Nazi Time. Except I decided that the Fantasy Nazis got the crap kicked out of them by the Not-German goverment without ever coming close to taking power, and the Republic held, if sometimes tenuously. It's actually really fun to work with a 1940s German culture that lacks fascism and genocide, but still gets cool stuff like stahlhelms, stielhandgranates, panzers with dashing commanders, and really smug not-Prussian officers with weird accents and riding crops they have no use for (who aren't evil, just dorks). And Berlin Cabernet culture is just perfect for my worldbuilding, LGBT elements and all. And Bavaria won't ever stop being fun.

Good luck. I know how much fun family drama can be. At least my Mom and Dad were partially sane.

Seconded.

My dad is a hippy, and just ran for public office at 70+ and my mom is an investigative journalist in a town of less then a thousand people.

So no, sanity need not apply. However, I'm not on Facebook so I don't get the drama until years later. :-)

So: second episode of Parks and Rec. Leslie, you need to apologize. Woman, you're proving, by being in that meeting, that your pride is stronger than your love for the children - you are there for no other reason than Leslie insulted you, and you're angry about it.

Jeez.

(Still a great show, though.)

^^I'm going to clarify that this is politics at its worst... but is common^^.

One of the reasons the 3/4E edition wars were so strong, was that is, more or less, exactly what WotC did, "We're going to make changes you might not like, but if you don't support them, Gould feel ashamed of yourself." Man; ... Parks and Rec manages to capture the origin of a decade of grar (and the reasons behind it) in a single episode! Well played...

EDIT: For clarity and making it look more readable.

So wait, people were buying multiple Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier, because they were so cheap. And then whenever one would cancel out a critical hit for the day, they'd just put on a different one. Like some sort of hilarious forties sitcom or Monty Python short.

F@!%ing hilarious!!

*wap!* Oh, you think that hurt see! Slips on new Jingasa *wap!* haha! slips on a new Jingasa I can do this all day if you want...
