Just played an open mic at a local tea shop. Some guy came in, ordered his tea, put on a gas mask, and started surfing Facebook on his laptop. Totally normal.

I wonder what he thought he needed protection from? Zee Germans?

Among other yard projects.

Put in a bird bath, installed some stones, we found a mole, adorable little guy, gave him someplace safe and shady to dig.

Put some leaves on the curb, put even more leaves into a gigantic pile in the front yard, these will later be piled up in the garden to compost for the winter :-)

The only moles we find lack heads.

Did I mention we own cats?

No. Not at all. You mentioned that racoons no longer come into your yard for some strange reason, but nothing about cats.

Wait, you have the cat mafia too? We thought we were the only ones receiving heads as gifts!

All I'm going to say is that you haven't had a proper "cat ownership moment" until you open your back door to go out and your calico tries to rush in, dead 9" rat in her mouth.

The "dead rat pajama door dance" will never catch on as a craze, I'm afraid.

For some reason I really want to see a golarion based version of Machete. With a half orc called Falchion. I want to hear the lines:

"Please Revered Brother. Have mercy!"

"Sarenrae has mercy. I DONT!"

sound of heavy crossbow twanging

Performed in all seriousness.

when I was young we had a big ass hound dog that would disappear into the woods and come back with a random dead animal or limb (she once came back with a cow leg) where she would leave it on the deck where she could watch it inside from the comfort of her sunny spot.

Every once in a while a barn cat would come up and sniff at it, at which point the dog would go crazy barking until the cat left and she could relax.

That went on all day, every day.

Ah, good times!

SHE GOT IT!!!!!!!!

NobodysWife got her offer letter about 15 minutes ago! The signed PDF has been returned. I'm pretty sure you can't blow the job at this point without running over the CEO's dog...

I on the other hand have made 1 alias, and like 3 posts.

And have yet to put away the mega sticker pack and board game I've had in my cart since I got to work at 5:36.

So, busy night!

Hey, I have to write up the glory of Hooken's death. My Serpent's Skull fans are waiting. But we're celebrating and I'm teaching Impus Major to cook. Priorities!

(Tonight should be straightforward: White rice in a rice cooker (because we're out of brown), grilled lamb chops, and steamed broccoli. All are simple in and of themselves, but all can suffer horrifically from under- or over-cooking. so a nice lesson in, "Timing is everything." Though it's hard to mess up a rice cooker...)

Yeah, about the worst you can do with a rice cooker is not washing the rice ahead of time. And even then you get edible rice at the end. It just smells awful while it's cooking. :)

Migraine today pretty much sapped my whole day. :(
Looks like I will be going to bed early and hoping tomorrow is better.

Shadow Lodge

So my LoF group just had their sorc perform their first Harrowing.

The Results:
Past:
The Paladin (LG, Str) - lawful good card of strength. It represents standing resolutely against trouble, without backing down.
The Queen Mother (LN, Wis) - lawful neutral card of wisdom. This formian is the personification of knowledge, who is fond of the powerless, the underclass, and those who will show her obeisance.
The Betrayal (NE, Cha) - neutral evil card of charisma. It represents selfishness and envy.

Present:
The Idiot (NE, Int) - neutral evil card of intelligence. It represents folly, greed, blackmail, bribery, or hubris.
The Carnival (CN, Wis) - chaotic neutral card of wisdom. It represents illusions and false dreams.
The Snakebite (CE, Int) - chaotic evil card of intelligence. It represents poison, venom, assassination, and discord.

Future:
The Fiend (LE, Str) - lawful evil card of strength. It is a devil that devours the masses of the innocent, and can represent the deaths of many in a disaster.
The Midwife (NG, Wis) - neutral good card of wisdom. It represents the enabler or conduit of new creation, information, or arrivals.
The Demon's Lantern (CE, Dex) - chaotic evil card of dexterity. It represents an impossible situation of traps, mind tricks, and sleight of hand.

The Harrower's interpretation:
[9:20:22 PM] Belladonna: Past: A force standing against trouble, against all odds, attempting to help those weaker than him/it, standing against selfishness. This sounds like someone attempting to stand for the lower classes in Denvushain against a liege that is seen as selfish and abusive in power.
[9:22:23 PM] Belladonna: Present: Greed, folly, blackmail, pride / illusions, false dreams /poison, assassination, discord. Someone, perhaps the paladin from the past?, is deluded by their pride and ends up part of a plot to create discord.
[9:25:54 PM] Belladonna: Future: deaths in a disaster, masses of innocent / new creation, information, arrivals / impossible situation of traps, mind tricks, sleight of hand. This force will cause a great number of deaths and a large disaster, impossible to avoid, however something better may rise from the ruins of the devastation.

Those who have played/DMed LoF: Thoughts? =)

I'm making a list of rpgs I played (pen and paper, not crpg). 31 and counting... Not counting homebrew systems. I am on the fence at some choices, though... Should I count 1st and 2nd editions of Warhammer as single system or two systems? Should I count 1st and 3rd/4th editions of Legend Of Five Rings as one or two editions? At least 3rd, 4th, and 5th edition of D&D are so significantly different that I can honestly count them as separate systems...

32. I decided to look on the list of systems on wiki to check what I am missing.

It does not exactly help because I now start to wonder if we only created characters to Buffy: The Vampire Slayer or did we played a single session?

At the moment I counted 33 systems without homebrew and probably one or two new wave indie systems plus three cases where we were creating characters but I don't recall if we actually played or not (Buffy, Everway, and Pendragon). I wonder how many systems have I missed...

Or maybe I should count all the old World Of Darkness systems as single system instead of each separately?

Down to 31...

I think that d20 Modern is sufficiently distinct from 3rd edition... Back to 32.

Actually of those I played 31 systems and GMed 15 16 of them. In fact of the counted systems Pathfinder is the only system that I GMed without ever being player.

EDIT: I am almost sure that I GMed MERP once some 20 years ago...

I know a guy who GMs Shadowrun - yes, I never played Shadowrun, my group at the time it was published in Poland picked Cyberpunk and then fell apart - so that will be another system to be added to the list in remotely near future. He has Ars Magica but he does not have time to GM it... I need to set up someone to GM it. Or maybe I'll borrow the book and GM it myself. The problem is that Ars Magica deserves a campaign to be fully enjoyable, and not a mere one-shot.

Ha! I played Shadowrun, made a dwarven rigger that never got to drive and couldn't hit the side of a barn with his shotgun.

I have a strong feeling that I am missing some systems... or am I just getting old.

Also, 32 systems for 21 years of gaming is not that much... So much for my creed of being rpg-know-it-all...

You got me beat by a lot, just DnD up to and including 4th edition, Shadowrun, TMNT, Robotech, Rifts, Nightspawn and Heroes Unlimited.

I really should stop playing Guitar Hero and do my homework.

Except for the wide array of D&D (in my case AD&D 2nd edition and D&D 3rd, 4th, and 5th edition), I haven't played any of the games you listed. I know more or less about Shadowrun and Rifts of those, and watched TMNT animated series (and played the arcade/computer game).

33 systems, 31 played, 17 GMed. I recalled GMing a Kult game. We never used actual game system on that session but it was Kult.

Which also makes it the second system on the list that I GMed but not played.

Ah, good times!

This week is not as bad as December will be. December 8th through the 24th I will be on the midnight to 8 am shift. yay. Someone please put me out of my misery. ~groans~ On the plus side, the extra 10% shift differential will be nice. After it is all through.

Edit - great. The same goes for November 23rd through the 27th. Just great.

Well, I should have said that I was aware that all of those systems were published by Palladium Games and use similar mechanics.
