My main issues with Skyrim aren't the bugs, honestly. It's the fact that it's g+!@&*n repetitive as hell. All the dungeons are the same: a big hallway filled with the same annoying enemies. NPCs are one-dimensional, and your companions feel like cardboard cutouts (at least when compared to Bioware games). As much as I enjoy the absolutely top-notch art direction and solid gameplay, I just can't make an emotional connection. It just kind of feels like I'm playing in a D&D game with a bunch of boring strangers.

I can't wait until a game developer manages to pick the best features of Skyrim (customization, open world, the "sandbox") and couples it with the best features of Dragon Age (NPC depth, compelling narratives).

Witcher 3 may not even start on my laptop... :(

Really the main reason I still play NWN is that we've managed to get something like this out of the Toolset and online server communities (though of course substituting "NPC" for "fellow player") while avoiding the worst of the typical MMO problems things like WoW, GW, EQ, etc. have.

I'm looking forward to the day another company dares to do something similar. I'd love to hope that Paizo's partnership with Obsidian might turn out something like NWN, really I would, but I'm trying not to let my hopes get too high until I actually see the darn thing.

Well played sir! Well played indeed

If I was in charge of canon over at IDW, I'd write in Kajechase as Nautica's dad or fun uncle.

Evenin' folks. I hope everyone is well today and enjoying their weekend. A little cloudy/drizzly here, as predicted, but nothing dire. I hope your local weather clusters are improving as the year marches on. :)

LordSynos, are there any of those Steam games available? I might be interested in a few of them. Thanks in advance.

The list is kept up-to-date as games are claimed, so the link on the thread here, or in my profile, should always show an accurate list of the available games.

In short, yes. :) What would you like?

Well, that's depressing... Last year's tax return was around $400. This year, it's $48.50.
That just means you lent less money to the US government.

Whenever Joshua Sasse was looking good.

Actually, that's the whole series.

You know, it's kind of weird how my issues with Skyrim are pretty much the exact opposite issues I had with Dragon Age: Origins. Skyrim has a great skill system, balanced and fun combat, and amazing design and world-building, but also has boring, 1-dimensional characters, boring missions, and a generic crap story. DA:O, on the other hand, has memorable, deep, interesting characters, a meaningful story in which your choices have weight, and interesting (if a bit long) missions, but also features mediocre art direction, poor animation, monotonous combat, and a completely broken magic system. It's like they're two halves of an unfinished game.

Skyrim bug that never gets old: any damage dealt to an opponent that exceeds that opponent's total hit point total gets converted into knockback. In short, at higher levels, shooting someone with an arrow will sometimes cause them to fly backward like they just got hit with a truck. Also the reason that getting hit with a giant's club at lower levels will launch you into the stratosphere.

Tree fell on the next door neighbor's house and also took out our power and cable. Over at Mom's doing laundry since Karen is leaving for New Orleans in a few days.

Ouch. Hope you get power back soon. And that the neighbour get their roof back too.

Yikes. Talk about a freak incident. I'm glad none was hurt but damn, what a blow. Here's hoping insurance covers this.

15,000 people were without power last night. And the person who was shot in my neighborhood died. So yay.

HOLY CRAP! What the hell happened?

~Shrugs~ I live in a marginal area that has gotten worse over the years. Karen really, really, REALLY wants to move out.

I recommend living in Madison, it's as close to a Hobbit's fantasyland as you'll probably get :-)

Dang! Hope things get better. Soon. Your neighbors Insurance will probably cover it, but the Deductible is usually still steep.

On the plus side, wave at me when you go to New Orleans. (I used to live there), now live in Lafayette, 2 hours away from the Big Sleazy. ;P

Edit: didn't realize it was so late, guess time flies when you're befriending the new ducks in the neighborhood:-)

Many times (though not in a long while)-- my mother's family has deep roots in the area. My uncle (who I'm named for) was a Wisconsin State Assemblyman representing Madison, and my grandmother taught at Edgewood College.

Power back on but still no internet. Have a good night everyone.
