I wish I could make sense out of that sentence, because it looks like it should be hilarious...

EDIT: It got drafty 'round here. Ah, I grab my feather-fur cloak.

It is bad that after reading today strip a thought or two about making that monster passed my mind?

Probably with the substance, ahem, spewed, changed from the thing I'd expect on Oglaf...

Ah, yes. You guys mentioned it, like, a page or two ago? I dunno.

Sorry - I forgot! Leaky brain sometimes...

EDIT: Ew, by the way. Who wants to deal with a leaky brain? Blech.

You know what kind of sucks? Oversensitivity to strong flavors. A lot of Autistic people have this, but I have it worse than most. I have to be extremely careful about tasting anything I didn't grow up with, and I grew up with processed frozen food and fast food, so I only eat very mild things, and if an ethnic cuisine hasn't been Americanized it might well make me sick. I can eat Americanized Chinese food amd stuff like that, at least.

It's part of why I love the Japanese. Most of their cooking is so mild that it tastes just right to me.

Started Iron Gods tonight, super fun!

as always my dwarf sucked at everything except carrying around useless spare robot parts:-)

in one night i managed to:

-roll 1s and 2s on every single attack roll, suffered from having Stench for 24 hours after drinking black sludge from a top Black Hill, meanwhile my Wife tripped for an hour then spent the rest of the day in a state of super awareness

- was the only person blinded by a Blindheim (why yes, i did roll a 1 on that save, how did you know?)

should be a fun campaign:-)

First test of the air mattress is deeded a moderate success. I slept, but I kept waking up multiple times, even despite being awake for 31 hours prior to going to sleep. Still better than my old mattress but its very narrow.

It will give me some time to look for the right mattress though.

I had a mental image of an improved epilogue for the Kingmaker campaign, but I'll have to get back to it after work.

I'm here for ya, man. I'm here for ya.

short-berg bump

(EDIT: in case it's not clear, at 5'6"-5'7" - depending on who's doing the looking -, I'm shorter than most males that I know as well.)

5'7" myself, however my size 12 feet more than make up for it, also I much prefer being shorter, never once thought of it as a hindrance :-)

I am 5' 11" and about 170 lbs/70 odd kg, I think.

Stone me, it's cold.

it's not me man. It's my black manliness. Spring apparently likes the dark meat and has not gotten over me snubbing her a few pages back.

Also, my blog's deadline is in two days. I will need to shift into high gear!

It's his own fault. Freehold wouldn't normally be that short, but he knows the constant freezing temperatures he's exposed to also cause shrinkage.

You and I are exactly the same height.

As far as weight goes, I've been bouncing between 215 and 230 lbs. for the past 6 or 7 years. May seem like quite a bit, but I've got a broad frame, so people always think I weigh 30-40 lbs. less than I do.

Same on both counts for me. Not quite as lucky on the frame thing, unless I wear a coat or jacket, which I'm told make me look less heavyset.

So I've been tracing my family tree and found, on my father's side, a previously unknown connection to the royalty of Scotland and England.

  • My 12th great grandfather was Sir Colin "The Grey Laird" Campbell. He personally decapitated the chief of Clan MacGregor during that whole Rob Roy thing.
  • Colin's wife traces her lineage back to John Stewart, son of James "The Black Knight of Lorn" Stewart and Joan Beaufort, Queen of Scotland after her marriage to James I of Scotland. The Black Knight was James I's best friend and married his widow to help her and their children retain power.
  • Joan Beaufort was the granddaughter of John of Gaunt through his oldest son with Kathryn Swyndon, Chaucer's sister-in-law. They had four chidren during a long affair and were finally allowed to be married. Kathryn was John's third wife and their children were legitimized by the crown and the Pope, but cut off from elegibility for the throne. Aw.
  • The Black Knight's great-grandmother was Matilda Bruce, daughter of Robert (19th great grandfather).
  • The Black Knight's mother was hereditary Queen of the Orkneys (House of Ergardia).
  • Go back far enough in Robert the Bruce's tree and you'll stumble across Harald Hardrada of Norway (26th great grandfather).
  • Go back far enough in John of Gaunt's tree and you smack spang into Hugh Capet (30th great).
  • I think the Capetians go back to Charlemagne but I haven't traced that far.

And of course, our line goes extinct in this generation. Still, it's a cool way to learn history, and there are some hideously romantic stories in there, as well as enough fun politics to fuel a D&D game.

It's also fun seeing all the names we learned in French History class - Joan of Navarre, Isabella of Aragon, Blanch de Artois, Louis VI (Le Gros), Phillippe I (The Fair), Eleanor of Aquitaine - sitting in my family tree.

I knew you would like that. You're such a romantic.

TFY: They had some AWESOME nicknames. The Grey Laird's son was "Black Duncan", probably named for his hair color but also reputed to have had a cold, black heart. He is said to have pushed the builder of his castle off the roof to avoid paying.

Another ancestor is Isabella "The She Wolf" from the Capetian line of French kings.

Oh, right, let's not forget Sir John James 2nd Lord Freuchie, "The Red Baird" Grant.

And now I have a great backstory for a mistfinder character.

I'm sure the guy just slipped as they were inspecting the parapets. Then enemies get hold of the tale and blow it all out of proportion. And take it out of context. Besides, the guy probably deserved it. He had it coming.

Spoiler:

I cannot believe I'm trying to justify the actions of a Campbell. In fact, I still can't believe I'm very much a Campbell. It's rather horrifying.

Yep. My wife was sick for a straight year her first year teaching, and that was AFTER having worked at a day care for a couple of years first!

It probably is, to be perfectly honest. I think they have decided that most of the population of Europe is descended from Charlemagne. The only thing special is that I managed to find that link. Hook into one little royal line, and you're linked to all of them. In the end, we're all cousins.

** spoiler omitted **

Black Duncan would at the end of each workday meet with his castellian on top of the castle walls. Speaking of the days progress, but mostly just BS ing.

On the day that the keep was completed, Duncan headed up to pay his friend, but alas a strong gust of wind blew his friend to the rocks below.
