One of these days I'll have the time to play it and can justify picking up the system for it.

What is this game, and how can I own it?!

Also, I greatly prefer the original FFT to FFTA for a few reasons. Though the latter has the awesome "judges" mechanic and additional races/classes, I generally prefer the "feel" of the former: the abilities were things you chose when you leveled up, not things that required specific items to be equipped while you learned it; the tone and "maturity" of the story "felt" superior; and the fact that I can play it on not-a-tiny-screen. This in no way makes FFTA a bad game - simply that I prefer the original to the quasi-but-not-really sequel. Similarly, I prefer FFT to Tactics Ogre, though for slightly different reasons - I like the inventory and class systems of FFT a bit better and the actual spell-and-skill mechanics, and the story is a bit less padded than TO's felt like it; also, though this is the least of things, I liked the look of FFT a tad more. That said, all are entirely worthwhile games that should be played at some point.

I play plenty of PC games myself, but RPGs are a platform that requires console controller command/input format. I've tried playing emulated SNES/Gameboy/GBA/DS games via computer keyboard and it is a PAIN. Click-and-play is even worse, that style of input should be reserved for games that cater to it - click-to-interact adventures like Sam and Max or Monkey Island.

Bravely Default is a Square RPG for the 3DS. This comparison is pretty inaccurate, as FH corrected later - it's more like FFV than any tactical games, having the usual RPG team-on-team turn-based combat and FFV's rotating job class system (though heavily polished and expanded). I'm trying to finish the downloadable demo before I start the game proper, which inevitably involves grinding at least a little, and between work, PF games, NWN, and other hobbies, I haven't had as much time for sitting down with the handhelds lately.

I've had my Xbox360 for 9 years now and still the only 2 games i've beaten are Lego Indiana Jones and Halo 3, although i'm 20th level in elder scroll: oblivion (game of the year edition)

Don't know why I made that mistake. Maybe it's time to game the classics again.

maybe sub-zero temps and feet upon feet of snow are cool for you, but i have kids, and they are tearing my house up, they have also almost completely taken over every means of entertainment, so what am i supposed to do, besides sit by the kitchen window drink s~~*loads of coffee and watch the cows stroll by:-p

Man, I've been running into a lot of old threads lately that, when combined with a raft of more recent posts, have made me feel less and less respectful and more and more frustrated at some folks who, though I tend to disagree with them, I at least found intelligent and rational. :/

I... I don't like not liking people or thinking, "That's stupid, you should feel stupid." when reading their posts. :(

This does not, by any means, apply to everyone I tend to disagree with. There have just been, like, five old threads I've read lately with rather vehement discussion where one side holds such an obviously-incoherent argument that it's just... just... ugh. And it's not even that they hold that view! That's fine! It's how arrogant and condescending they are about it! And then they have the nerve to tell peo- ARG! I'm ranting! :(

For RPGs? Specifically turn-based JRPGs such as Final Fantasy and the like or tactical games like FFT or Fire Emblem? How exactly is keyboard more efficient? And I've never seen one use a mouse at all.

what always helps me is the realization and acceptance of the fact that this is the internet. I love paizo. I love the messageboards. I would enter carnal relations with the FAWTL thread if I could. However, this is the internet, where people lose their s!** and get into vitriolic arguments where threats of death ensue over the most minor of disagreements, fall over laughing until stomach cramps ensue because a cat did something slightly cute, and third parties call the police to an acquaintances house in another state due to a spectacularly bad case of broken telephone in a live chat session.

Spoiler:
yes, that happened. I wont go into details, but it was embarrasing for all involved.
long story short, Keep interactions low-key. Conserve anger for when it's really important. And never, ever let a troll get to you.
