Yesterday was not such a good day. As we were driving on the interstate heading into work a large fiberglass ladder materialized out of nowhere directly in front of us. I swerved to miss the ladder and broadsided the guard rail. Fortunately my wife, our dog, and I were OK but the car did not fare so well. The side air bags deployed so I fear the insurance company will declare it a total loss. We were about 5 months away from no car payments.

It may be all good, this was the same car the deer hit two years ago, I think the car is cursed.

Fiberglass ladder in the middle of interstate? Was it standing on road or have it fell from another car just in front of you?

Or it might be blessed and providing you with protection against actual curse of blight druidic circle that is still angry that you stopped their zombie deer apocalypse before it could spread...

yikes.

I'm sorry man. But how did a fiberglass ladder appear out of nowhere? Did it use 2nd ed rules for surprise?

Gah, I might have an inflammation in my deltoid muscle. At least that's what the doctor said. Arm hurts like hell.

Quote of the day, from FB: "Why are you asking (friend) a question? Why don't you just Google it?"

I'm going to go drown myself now.

No need to thank me. I'm just one man, looking out for his fellow New Yorkers who need a day off of work.

In reference to the fact that my Dragon Age Origins character looks like Fran Katzenjammer, a friend has suggested that my characters in subsequent games should be Bernard Hawke and Inquisitor Manny, just to round out the rest of the cast of "Dragon Age: Black Books."

Just make sure to follow the rules:

1. No mobiles.
2. No wigwams.
3. None of that.
4. Or any of the rest.

Feel free to shift some of it this way. Looking outside at the moment is like watching a black-and-white TV.

Another name added to the goodbye list. Probably should have done that some time ago, generally unpleasant folk all around.

Except I had to work anyway, from home, in between shifts of shoveling snow.

I would have come over and shoveled...

Meh. I took current mattress (killing my back) to the other room and replaced it with another old mattress. Now I got a cough. Either too much dust irritated my not exactly cured after last illness throat, or there is fungus somewhere. Ugh.

I am tempted to consider buying a new mattress but without replacing current bed it might be pointless. Replacing bed would be much greater expenditure of money, not counting it being a grave exercise in logistics...

I strongly suggest replacing mattress and getting a new box spring afterwards.

I am not able to even pull the upper bunk alone, less set it aside, throw away the lower bunk and put the upper bunk in place of lower bunk - because lower bunk has damaged springs, unlike the upper one which is fine.

You're on a bunk bed? Any way to sleep on upper bunk or would that be insanity?

And I get headache just by thinking about taking things from under the lower bunk. Space is a precious commodity in apartment that was living place of two generation living under social realism where shortage was the name of the day, and conditioned everyone to scrounge everything deemed possibly useful. And current trash removal rules are not especially helpful to me to get rid of most of that crap. I would have to hire a special trash container because lots of things here cannot be just thrown into the regular trash container (for which I pay monthly fee exaggerated by moronic legislation that killed competition by having city set the price so their cronies can profit).

Well, it came to me when I wrote previous post. Obviously an hour after I switched the mattresses so the mattress that lacks the hole crumpled in the center would be on lower bunk...

Also, I haven't slept on the upper bunk since the early High School. I just don't know if I will manage to remember that I am meter and half above floor when I will be crawling out of the bed in morning dizziness.

Tomorrow morning (or middle of the night) will show if the reason of my recent back problems where caused by the bad mattress of just by my backbone and back muscles deteriorating.

I really need to start throwing various useless things piece by piece. At least those that I can legal throw into regular trash containers.

Of course my scrounger gene screams that there might be useful things there, or things that could be sold for some spare cash.

Yeah, right...

Not that mine fear of heights grew much more intense since that time. Not at all.

At least I finally measured the mattress... ca. 78 cm x 192 cm.

Seems that IKEA is off the list. Their mattresses are much wider...

Well, they have mattress that might be of right width, but its too long by some eight centimeters...

If I stop posting after leaving for today it will mean that dust wraiths got me. Or vegepygmies.

Huh. That mattress seems almost right. Mere ten centimeters too long. And it's foam so it could be probably cut a bit. And it's relatively cheap. I wonder what would be wrong with it if I picked it. Ah. nine centimeters high. Might be too shallow for my bunk.

No, it should be fine at 9 cm height. It's a bit more than the current mattress actually, after so many years of crumpling at least.

See you tomorrow.

Hopefully.

After some ten minutes on "new" old mattress I got up. Too dusty despite some precautions taken. I tried to set up a folded armchair/bed only to discover that its bed-leg is broken and can't support it while unfolded into bed... So I brought the old mattress back from the other room. And then my mother called.

*cough*

Am I cursed to not get decent sleep anymore? Not that I had any really good sleep in recent memory anyway.

Glad you and yours are alright, Tordek.

This has been one of those days. Luckily it is almost over. And tomorrow might not suck as much....

I am alive. I made the old mattress manageable by putting a piece of foam under the most crumpled part and was able to sleep.

Huzzah!

is it wrong to want to eat vegepygmies?

Because every time I look at them I get peckish. It's not cannibalism, is it? They're plants. Delicious looking semi intelligent plants. I just want to try one. Yes, Sharoth, with blue cheese dressing.
