I'm going to give it a shot. Not sure if I should try to pick up the partial story I did back in 2009's NaNo and continue it or try something fresh.

I'm reworking something I previously wrote as a short story. It sucked. All I'm keeping is the basic premise and the names, everything else goes bye bye.

As always I struggle with taking time for character development instead of rushing through the plot.

Well, I guess you don't need clothes for writing....

I know that feeling. I ended up never touching it again after NaNo finished because I felt I'd jumped the plot too far forward and had no idea how to stretch things out or bridge the two points that were disconnected.

I'm trying out using first person perspective on the grounds that my character will be too much of an annoyance in my head if I skip pas he thinks are important.

At least that's the plan. Obviously haven't started yet since its not yet November. Still working on outlining and writing out note to plan this thing.

I've completely never gotten the hang of writing in first person... I do it for campaign journals when I'm playerside and it always feels awkward. One of the main reasons our group's Age of Worms journal is so out of date.

Third person omniscient is much more comfortable.

God, I wish I had time for NaNo.

Took me quite a while, but I finally got this glorious figure in a proper picture!

Note to self: do not be nice to random people in mmorpgs - they will try to talk to you more. :/

Yeah, unfortunately, you never know what you are going to run into.

If it was anything like some of the experiences I've had, you find yourself looking for an excuse to get away, but then feel guilty about it.

did I mention that I edit? Because I edit. I totally edit.

Every time you need to write in first person, just think, "what would H.P. Lovecraft do?"

Almost through the second week at my new job. This schedule is unsustainable. It's also sub-optimal that I only find out what hours I'm working at the end of my shift the day before.

The anthem of my generation. Or at least, it should be.

Morning FaWtL folk. Hope ye all had a good night, and a good day ahead. Not as chilly here today, but still dull and damp. Thank goodness. I was beginning to worry I was in some Bizarro Ireland for a while there. :P

We are on road to nowhere

So. Things happening.

Still waiting on pins and needles for the high school to respond about the prospective job starting in January. Going to start as a long-term substitute, and they'll switch to a contract once I finish the classes/certification.

Also, kiddo found my Kindle. After random button mashing, she managed to order two books I've never heard of for about $20. Didn't know about it until I got the e-mail from Amazon.

Nice. Thankfully Amazon is pretty good about refunding mistaken orders.

Were those really random? Check what books are those... Maybe the little one is plotting something behind your back?

Uh, now YT is showing me ads in Italian? They are spying my facebook feed apparently where I noted I would consider learning Italian before Finnish...

Do you have your YouTube/Google account hooked to your Facebook account? If so they're probably sharing information, yes.

Mushroom, mushroom, mushroom.

(Maybe should've gone in the what are you having for lunch thread instead.)

Yay chanterelles!

*grumble-grumble* Printer not working correctly... I just bought it! Crap.

Have I mentioned that I need to print some paperwork for tomorrow?

*sigh*

Something is borked with black ink cartridge... Color works fine. I managed to print the paperwork by taking out the black cartridge and relying on printer being smart enough to use color to substitute for black during printing. Still, I will probably need to take the printer to the shop and request repairs/replacement. It does not seem to be driver problem...

I might solved the issue by using option of self-cleaning... Regular and advanced. Seems to be working now.

I need to get up in about six hours. Blargh.

I sense lots of napping tomorrow.

Dinner is served. Buttermilk marinated southern style fried chicken strips. Homemade buttermilk biscuits. Crispy fried onion strings. All made by me. Yum.

Well, you're too late for the chicken or onion strings. But there are still biscuits.

There's no telling how far I would travel for a good biscuit.

They're not the best biscuits I've ever made (turns out my baking soda expired in 2012), but they're still pretty good.

Io sono Drago.

BTW: I have no idea what bagno means in Italian, but in Polish it means swamp. Pronounced with hard g.

Jag tala svenska!

Spoiler:
Not really. Nope.

How does Imnarias sound as a name for a Kyton?

Works for me. What's it mean?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I kind of got it from mixing Inari (a location in northern Finland) and the word närä, which is an archaic Finnish word for a grudge. Imnäriäs got switched to Imnarias for easy pronunciation.

Cool, works for me =)
