Momentous occasion or just a mere blip on the treadmill of life?

My shingle is out.

I just completed and sent my first proposal to perform consulting work for a company. This is tremendously new territory for me. I'm both excited and terrified.

Apparently JMS has gotten quite a ways towards being able to make a movie.

Not sure if it will have G'kar or not, but Andreas Katsulas is obviously out, so...

At least Kaylee had a purpose for being there. She was the ship's engineer. What's-her-butt...Aisha? GIVE ME RIDES, GIVE ME FOOD, JUST HERE FOR THE FANSERVICE. The other freeloader...Suzuka? Been a while...she was equally useless in terms of the crew, but at least she wasn't ear-bleedingly obnoxious.

Craved Chinese food every time that stupid cat showed up...

Interestingly enough, I am en route to get Chinese food as we speak.

After Katsulas death Straczynski said something about no one else being suitable for that role, albeit referring to eventual continuation or prequels, not reboot.

Elves, sex, and making fun of paladins? Is this a book, or is it the "gamer talk" section of the forums?

If there's a bubblegum crisis, is it because they're all out of bubblegum?

Good morning everypony! Hope everyone is well today, and has a swell day. Wet, cold, and windy in Ireland, it doesn't bother me. Does bother the little one though, and that bothers me. Curse you, Overcloud!

Mini Journal:
It's been a month since I got to do one of these! Yay!

When last we left our confused layabouts, we had just managed to broker a peace between the Shepherd's, who had been using their powers to possess the Mob with a fervor to hunt the Supernatural, and the Mob, who we had just released from said fervor. Between the Mob and our Mage, we were supplying everyone with weapons, armour, and miscellaneous other useful gear, in order to assault the invaders of our realm in their own. For those just tuning in, the invaders are the Atlanteans, who live on the floating world of, you guessed it, Atlantis. The world is an amalgamation of different islands, traveling through space under the power of significant, ancient magic. From what we can gather, they stop at different worlds, use their magics to drain those worlds of power and resources, and keep moving. They are being followed by some ancient, elder evil, who is to be the end of all things. Earth and Atlantis are, apparently, the last two inhabited worlds left in the multiverse, hence when they are throwing their all at getting into our world.

So, having geared up, planned out, and broken into squads, we called up the BRCK, our world's equivalent of the SCP, which is an organisation responsible for the capture and containment of all things supernatural, and keeping the general populace ignorant of the same. We know that if they get their hands on us, we'll never see the light of day again. However, we saw recon drones for bombers in the sky, and felt it best to inform them that, with a little time, this thing may be dealt with, and we'd really appreciate not being bombed. After a short call asking for a lot more information that we were really willing to give, they eventually informed us that they were intercepting bombers sent by the government, because despite initial reports, they were not actually willing to kill an entire state in the hopes of stopping whatever supernatural happening was going on. We may have been giving them insufficient credit. Anyhow, they said nothing would happen to Atlanta for the next 24 hours, so get back to them before then.

Oh, right, what's going on in Atlanta. So, these invaders, the Atlanteans, who want to get into our world so badly, can't. There's this ancient ward that Earth possesses, that prevents outside influences simply waltzing in. However, it's under the control of humans. Sure, they have to practice "simple" magic, and know specific rituals, but any old human can perform the rituals and negotiate entrance to our world in exchange for certain things. Can you guess what happened? A couple of lawyers, who thought they were very clever, more clever than the ancient aliens they were dealing with, made a contract with the Atlanteans, that they could have free access to Earth once they were both dead, in exchange for certain relics and powers (since squandered). Needless to say, the Atlanteans have been actively trying to kill these two idiots, and becoming more aggressive about it, to the point where they've infected the entire state of Georgia with a memetic agent, which possesses people with the need to find and kill the remaining dude (we killed the first one before we knew about the contract). So, Georgia is in lock-down, to prevent the agent from spreading outside the state, and with no known cure for memetic agents, we assume they were going to bomb the state to kill the agent. We told them we were going to kill it at the source and, since it's a magical agent, hopefully that will release those currently infected.

Did I miss anything? I hope not. Tell me if I did, I love this story, and enjoy recounting it. :)

Anyways, from there, we took Mjölnir and used it to teleport to the world of the Atlanteans. Our plan evolved as we discussed and became more prepared. So, the Atlanteans have the God of Ignorance, who was originally the God of Knowledge. Another quick recap, True Mages work by knowing things no one else does. This grants them amazing powers. When a God dies, it becomes its inverse. In order to gain more power, the Mages of Atlantis, known as the Convocation, killed the God of Knowledge to make him the God of Ignorance. They then use the GoI to make people forget things, so that they gain more power. So, our plan revolved around finding the GoI and killing him, so he becomes the GoK again. Hopefully, no longer forgetting things constantly, he'll feel inclined to help us take care of those that killed, imprisoned and used him like a tool. As we didn't know where they were going to be keeping the GoI, we decided to start by going quiet, scout out to find the palace of ignorance, and then go loud. In order to do this, we recreated enough of the clothes of the Atlanteans that we could disguise ourselves. We had 32 people in total, so split into squads of 4, with at least one Shepherd to a group. As soon as we landed, we all spread out in different directions, with flares, trackers, and earpieces to find / communicate between the groups.

An initial speedbump was that we didn't know the language, so couldn't actually ask or inquire, or respond when others spoke to us. The Mage quickly split off to remain unobserved, and used his power over the mind to "borrow" the language from a local. We quickly began to make our way towards where we believed we would find the palace. Quickly, one squad found itself unable to avoid detection, and went loud to draw the attention away from where the rest of us traveled.

Then, the game ended early, because the GM was still exhausted, and going any further would have brought the game into the wee hours of the night. Didn't make much progress, it was more of a recap and detailing session, but still good fun, and glad to get things going again.

I know right?

Thankfully the in-party bickering and such has fallen by the wayside in the wake of finding the guy they're all looking for

Queen of Thorns spoiler:
and an ancient green dragon, and a bunch of demons showing up and using one of the party members' body as a living portal to invade through.

Kingmaker night was last night! Party is finally in Armagk's Tomb and duked it out with the Black Sisters. I was using an amped up homebrew version of them that revived them as mummies two rounds after they died, but given it was 11:30 by the time the second one dropped, I decided to ignore that bit of their statblock and just let them finish the encounter instead. Two dead clerics and one captured bard who the party is debating whether to kill or merely cripple after interrogating. (They killed her before, once, but she got teleported away by a contingency and got resurrected.)

She's all but certainly working for the Aspect of Envy. Crippling her would be both needlessly cruel and have the great potential to backfire horribly. We've already seen she knows priests powerful enough to do better than repair any damage we cause - and even if we destroy their remains, the funny thing about an underground cult is that there's always another sect somewhere-, and the last thing we need is to have her running around as yet another potential wildcard with an increased need for vengeance. Get the information we need, confirm there's no way in Hell we can alter her loyalties, and make it a quick death. She's caused enough damage we're going to have to repair already, and unless she proves herself key to reversing said damage, I can see no logical reason to keep her around and growing more bitter by the day.

WHERE?!?!?!?

I'm so looking forward to the three-day weekend. I will get caught up on freelance assignments I've had to delay thanks to work. Unfortunately, the day job pays considerably better, so I can't blow them off. I just hope the next time they let someone go, they distribute the work load a little more evenly, :)

All the same, there will be a Friday monster. It might actually be a Saturday monster, but there will be one.
