Mrs Rumnaheim and I are leaving to drive up to Minnesota this morning. We are going to take the pottery pieces currently sitting in my parent's garage that we made during my parent's 50th wedding anniversary weekend to a local kiln to get bisque fired. If we deliver them by tomorrow (Friday) they can turn them around for us by July 3rd. Then we pick them up and make the 19 hour drive back home.

A lot of driving, but it is worth it since one of the pieces is a platter we made that we all signed and marked the occasion.

Pictures from when we made the pieces are on facebook. After the pieces have been glazed, I'll post pictures here.

Went home for lunch. Son was home. Really did not want to go back to work.

Have I mentioned my son is awesome? Cause, he is. His Mom sent him with shades, a backpack, and new sandals. He's so frikkin' adorable. And he was so damn happy to see me. I could've cried, I tells ya. This day really needs to end quickly so I can go home. >.<

So.

She.....never got my last name put on her soc. sec. card when we got married. So, she went to the social security office and they said her drivers license was expired (two whole days ago--thought she had til the end of the month).

So she says "what the hell am I gonna do?"

And the lady at social security says "you can start by not cursing at me" and she calls the security guards on my wife to escort her out. Now, on Easter Sunday I got called in for a lung scan and I got vomited on. The lady was really sorry, and, you know, I felt bad that she wasn't feeling good, but the fact of the matter is this: I get this stinky brown vomit on me that looks like chewing tobacco and smells worse, but this little *t*hole at the soc sec office gets to call security on my wife for saying "hell?" Really? F@&&ing HELL? Wow. I wish I had that luxury.

Can you see that the word isn't even covered up on this website you byoch?

Anyway's the drivers license people.....I went down there and we got it figured out, and it should be handled now.

Now, Libertarians,......they don't actually want to live in Mogadishu. They're just tired of stupid b###~*%& like this.

I hope you don't face this in the future.

new books often make people cranky, myself included.

Somebody keeps using FIFY. Regardless of context that ticks me off.

New book releases make me excited, but only because I keep my expectations so low that it is nearly impossible to disappoint me.

Sadly, there's been a couple Pathfinder books which really, really were not worth the money...

Orthos, that annoys me too. Especially when they fix it and their fix is wrong or, worse, they try to dictate people's opinions.

That's pretty much what it always is. "Oh you clearly don't mean that, here's what you actually meant to say. Because I clearly know your intent better than you do." No, dammit, I said what I meant and I meant what I said.

Or they use it as a vehicle for their opinions because they think their opinions are more valid.

So in other but equally frustrating news, back to Orthos's Apartment Hunting Saga.

Over the majority of June I've been working on moving out of my parents' place and into an apartment, as I've mentioned before. The past two weeks, that's been on hold due to my application being locked out by what appears to be an outstanding debt with one of my prior apartment complexes. Nevermind that it's been eight years since I lived there, and that in that time I'd applied at three other apartments and never had this debt come up on the radar.

So last Thursday I called them up. They've since been sold to a new owner, who doesn't have those records. So I called the credit company whose number was on my credit report. After getting the runaround from their machines for ten minutes, I finally got to speak to someone flesh and blood, and got them to send me the paperwork. APPARENTLY, they can't just confirm my identity the normal way (Full name, social security number, current address, and other standard questions), but rather they had to send me some paperwork, I fill it out and fax it back, and THEN they can send me the paperwork that actually has the information I need to dispute the debt or pay it. And no, they can't just forward me to the people I actually (presumably) owe money to.

So I filled out the paperwork and faxed it back to them. That was a week ago. I hadn't heard a thing from them. I hadn't received any emails - and I've been checking my spam folders obsessively. So after calling the apartment and making sure it hadn't accidentally gotten sent to them instead (which it hadn't), I called them back, and sat through another ten minutes of robots. They'd never received the faxes. They wanted information that I'd never received to verify my case identity and other junk - stuff they were supposed to send me last Thursday. Which, again, I never received.

Thankfully telling them to email it again seems to have done the job, and rather than faxing I'm going to fill it out tonight and email it back. That way at least I can guarantee it'll get to the person it needs to get to. Presumably.

Then we can hopefully get this nonsense overwith.

Watching Battle of the V1. English movie from 1958 depicting (losely) Polish Resistance discovery of Nazi V1 wonder-weapon.

Second part of the movie is dedicated to Poles capturing V1 that crashed in the field. In reality it was V2 test rocket that crashed in the field, and which pieces were sent to England on a plane with documentation already made by Polish technicians. The scene with the plane's landing gear getting stuck in soft ground is true, however.

I don't understand a trend I've seen with the online job applications I've been filling out. Probably 90% of them require you to upload a resume, but after you've done so, you have to fill out page after page of questions where everything on your resume gets typed into little boxes. If you're going to ask me all about my work history and skills on the application proper, why ask for a resume? All it does is pad out the already long application process and add unnecessary headaches to it all. Some of these s*!&s run 20 pages or more and take HOURS to complete a single application.

Yep, all too familiar with those days.... >_< You have my sympathies man.

Hence why I want some documentation, so I can pay it off if I actually do owe them something (despite it taking them this long to ask about it), or tell them to stuff it if not.

Why bother with fraud prevention when you're just looking for a mook who can lift boxes for 20-30 hours a week? I mean, I can sort of understand it if you're a business that deals with software or sensitive equipment, but the skill set that I fall into is basically "AM STRONG AM BARBARIAN." Seems more than a bit like overkill.

Agreed. Highly suspicious of this. Yet, the apartment folks weren't the... best... at record-keeping, etc.

Orthos, you might consider contacting Paula. She worked in a collections department for a while and might be able to tell you if this sounds too suspicious.

The sky fire returns once more, though the overcloud is ever present of the horizon, so how things will go is anyone's guess. Thank the RNG that the weekend is so close now. I would say I look forward to sleeping in, but that's not exactly on the agenda this weekend. :P
