The post order changed again, I swear it!

THE WALLS ARE WRONG. THE WALLS ARE WRONG.

Huh. Looks like a good time for a shower.

I have coffee now. Mmmm. With my coffee-drinking roommate gone, I rarely bother to make any. And when the Puffin is not home, I eat very light, healthy snacks (like fruit). It's only when other people are around that I drink coffee or eat a lot of horrid fried, salty stuff.

Obviously, my bad habits are all somebody else's fault.

My HR friend/second mom tore apart my résumé with me yesterday. I've been rebuilding and reformatting it and I have to say it looks really pretty good. Now people who don't speak mainframe can read and understand it!

It's strange. Most of my life has been spent helping other people. Now when I need assistance, it's kind of hard to take, but I'm touched by how many people give so willingly and even happily to friends in need, no matter what the need - time, money, living space. This is kind of the opposite of the bad guy who finally gets his comeuppance after a charmed life. All the times I've gone out of my way for people or gotten them jobs or helped them financially are returning tenfold, in ways I never expected or anticipated, and with love.

I don't care what horrors you see on the news: I firmly believe the great majority of people are good, kind, and decent and will do the right thing when given the opportunity.

I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS FEELING

The house is getting bigger on the inside.

And with that, lots to do today and lots of overtime to do it in. Time for me to vanish for a bit. Later FAWTLfolk.

You're telling me.... Today is my first day back at work and I have already been back and forth with my supervisor and the secretary as well as my computer....

NEVER!!!!!!!!!

Isn't getting the flu just as good as (and cheaper than!) a flu shot?

Speaking of flu, after two weeks of illness, I feel so much better that I served Puffin breakfast in bed.

Meh. The Polish gas bill weren't suitable to serve as proof of Polish address for English bank. It lacked required information that aren't provided on every Polish bill...

I might have to cancel the account completely and look for other bank. But if it is legal requirement I might not be able to make an active account here in England without going back to Poland and getting a passport or bank statement from my Polish bank.

Can the Polish bank mail you a statement?

You mean send a paper containing some vital information regarding the customer to an unknown address just because someone claiming to be owner of those vital information called them to send them to another country?

Are you feeling any better, CH?

Not for the people you infect.

I'm very good about keeping my germs to myself.

Me too, since I'm at home most of the time.

Translating a beginning of a short story I had written some time ago. It loses some of the fine points in translation but opens to larger audience that way :/

Enough for today. No new writing but at least about a page was translated from Human to English.

Not if you end up in the hospital. In that case, the shot would have been a lot cheaper. I will confess that communicable diseases are a bit of a hobbyhorse of mine (given that I come from a long line of medical personnel on both sides, and have heard some truly horrifying family stories), and one that my best friend and I cheerfully share.

Uh....huh? So English speakers are or aren't human? Which? Either? Both?

hi everyFaWtL,

I wish you all a good slide into the new year!!!

we will stay at home this year, we bought an "oven cheese", that is a big camembert in a wooden box that you put into the oven where its inside melts, you than open it and dip bread into it like a cheese fondue

traditionally I DON'T buy fireworks, it is a family tradition, I never buy it, my dad never did

Germans spend 1.5 billion € on fireworks in the day between Dec.27th and Dec.31th (the only time it is legal to buy and sell fireworks in Germany)

Such alien and distorted sounds could not be fully produced by human entity.

Got a call inviting me to technical test for Thursday. I heard that induction for new workers might be planned for Friday so... Well, we'll see.

By setting compatibility to SP2, changing AV programs, setting it to run in admin mode, and rebooting several times, I finally got NeatDesk's Neat software to run on my computer.

It was a hassle, but I have gotten most of my receipts from 2013 scanned in and shredded. I'm going to try to scan in all my old IRA statements (Keep Forever!) and bank statements, then start on the business paperwork. With any luck, I'll be paperless by the end of January and not have to move MOST of the stuff I brought with me to Colorado!

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk!!! Happy Tuesday!!! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Scarab Sages

My work day shall be shorter than usual. I have applied 3 hours of vacation in order to get the hell out a bit early. I've got several errands to run, some of which must be done today.

Scarab Sages

One errand involves getting birthday presents for my two nieces. They turn 5 and 2 next Monday, but their party is this Saturday. Sisters born on the same day, three years apart.

While I'm out at Toys R Us getting their gifts (Disney Princess Palace Pets), I'm going to swing by Academy Sports and look for some new steel-toe boots. Since steel-toe shoes aren't good enough for the platform I'm visiting.

Scarab Sages

And on the way home from all that I'm going to stop by the grocery store and pick up some stuff for dinner tonight and New Year's Day tomorrow.

Think of improvement in your ability to kick minions and slaves!

Scarab Sages

I was sitting quietly and reading last night. Everyone else was asleep. Or so I thought. I heard some noises, went in my room, and there was my baby girl - laying in her bassinet, (mostly) quiet. So I took her out, changed her diaper, and we hung out for a bit before I had to go wake up mommy for feeding.

It's awesome to just watch them watch the world.

But I already had the shoes for that. Only reason they demand boots is because they want more ankle protection.

Scarab Sages

Anyway folks, I'm gonna log off in a bit and get busy at work. If I don't pop back in before tomorrow morning, then y'all have a safe and happy New Year's Eve.

maybe everyone is at a Sylvester Party?

do americans do sylvester partys ?

in Germany you kind of need a very good cause (like 9th month pregnancy) to not be at someones party (or hoast your own)
