It's not funny if I have to explain the joke. :(

So I'll settle for explaining that the stuff in the bottles is really just Irn-Bru (Scotland's other national beverage of choice, tastes kinda like liquid sweets, which is a lot better than it sounds like), and that Fanny has a different meaning in British English than in American.

Brilliant :O

(and of course "Irn-Bru: Made in Scotland from Girders")

I've enjoyed Germany every time time I've been there, even with the Army.

I love the Rhine river castle tours. There are so many awesome castles on the Rhine. I also love the food and the beers.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

I love the food and the shops and the people. I loved the little old lady chewing out this tall punk kid for throwing a candy bar wrapper on the ground, while he stood and took it. I love the divided trash containers so recyclables are automatically separated. I love the big feather beds in the pensions, and the cold cut spreads for breakfast. I love the soft, dim paths and little shrines in the Black Forest, and the sight of snowy mountain peaks. I love the old-looking buildings that you discover were rebuilt in exactly their old form after being bombed into oblivion during World War II. I love the pine trees strapped to the top of structural iron, and seeing guys ride the central roof beam of a new house down the street. I love houses built directly over the barns so the warmth of the livestock rises to help heat the farmhouse in the winter. I love coming around a curve in a forest road only to find a little manufactory there, tucked into the woods. I love the shops that close at 5 or 6 so people can be home with their families in the evenings.

There are so many things to love about Germany.

Has anyone else ever cleaned out there closet and then gone "Damn...now why did I buy that in the first place?"

Yup.

Also hi newbie =)

I once went with a college group to Europe and we had the 'Rhine River Tour/Vacation" We were on a bus, but basically followed the Rhine river for the entire week. My faves were the castles and other old buildings of course, but I enjoyed everything I saw that week. I think we passed through almost 30 countries, including some the size of a postage stamp.

I want to go back,... :(

Yep, doing well. Last night's annoying hayfever went away, just about...

Now whether to brave outside at lunch time.... maybe.

About time we drove this overblown cockroach from our borders for once and for all. He's caused enough damage.

A KING does not COWER!! He crushes and rends and incinerates all before him!!

COME THEN! We will see in blood and battle who is fit to rule these lands, pretender queen!

Duchess. And aren't you in league with a pretender queen yourself?

Clearly this won't be settled with words. Therefore, it must be settled in the manner of the ancient emperors. Prepare yourself, as it is now time for a DUCK OFF!!! No magic, spell-like, supernatural, or extraordinary abilities allowed. First person to turn into a duck wins!

And start!

More homes evacuated after new Colorado wildfire

We got a crapload of smoke from fires over 50 miles away.

If anyone has any extra rain we'll take it.

well, ironically, we would have more than enough water for you, even two weeks after the heavy rain-floods large parts of east Germany are still flooded

It would be nice if these things balanced out, but it doesn't seem to work that way.

Typically we get hard rain after the fires that makes the burn scars worse.

Your post makes me hungry.

Of course yesterday talking about Black Forest made me hungry.

I caught up on Spartacus and GoT too.

You can have mine. We just got hammered this morning, by a line of storms that weren't supposed to be all that big, or be here till about noon.

;P

The boy ran into the room after a few 'kabooms' saying "Mom?!", and stopped when he saw we were awake. I asked him if he came to make sure mommy was ok. He shook his head an emphatic negative, then we had another thunderclap. He did a standing broad jump, cleared 3 feet and landed on the bed.

That's my boy. ;P

On another note, smoke can travel FOR-EV-ER.

I was in Florida in 2007 when those wildfires were there. I was in Sarasota, many miles away, and we could hardly walk outside it was so bad. Trying to drive ranged from uncomfortable to unsafe. :(

And WHY have I never heard of Torchlight before?!?

Thanks for the tip! I am SO glad I downloaded it last night!

What little sleep I was getting is gone now of course,... ;P

Good morning!

Welcome to Lunalynx! Congratulations on the new role, Karelzarath! Good luck with your job search, Treppa!

Sorry to hear about the wildfires still going on in CO, BT.

I hope I didn't miss too much else during my absence, which will now continue as I finish up work on a pile of projects.
