John let slip that one of his favorite restaurant entrees is beef wellington. I happen to have a recipe, and his birthday is Monday.

Does that make me the best boyfriend in the world, or utterly insane for contemplating this pastry-encased culinary monstrosity?

yes. Also, I've never had beef Wellington.

day2

we did an amazing hiking trip through the Wimbachklamm gorge, they build wooden walkways over the wild water,
in the afternoon we inva.... um....visited Austria on a trip to Salzburg, the 3rd biggest city of Austria, the whole town is UNESCO world heritage site
like berchtesgaden Salzburg was indipended until the time of Napoleon, ruled by an Lord-Archbishop.
Salzburg, as the name (Saltcastle) suggests, became rich through salt mining and salt merchants, Keep Highsaltcastle is one of the biggest castles in europe

Salzburg is the birthplace of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

There is no simple beauty about it. Pizza was meant to have toppings. Anything less is unnatural and an abomination. I will agree, however, that from everything I've heard New York does indeed have the best pizza.

Not that I'd ever find out, since I'll more than likely never set foot within the confines of that place.

interesting you should say that as I am on Houston as we speak. Sympathetic magic could teleport you here against your will, but that would be mean.

No worries. I've got Bracers of Protection from the Northeastern City That's Too Full of Itself +5.

so...no houston for you then. ;)

Hmmm...you do have a point....so I have fixed it for me!

Wait! Crap! I forgot about Boston.

day3: the salt day

we started with a tour through Berchtesgaden salt mine, active since 1517 and still providing the mayority of table salt in germany

in the afternoon we visited the St. Rupertus salt spa in Bad Reichenhall where we floated in a grotto of salt brine, sat in the salt steam bath and got a salt skin peeling (yes, me too, my skin was never softer:-D)

So what you're saying is... For all you know, NYC is your favorite city on the planet, but you have never been there? ;)

Now I know that's not true. I know my favorite city on the planet, and it definitely is not, and could never be, NYC.

day 4:

we started our travel home with a stop in munich, where we had a tour through the Allianz Arena and the museum of Bayern München
We where in the locker room, saw the 22 copies of the championship disk, the15 national cups, the UEFA cup-winners-cup from 67, the UEFA Cup and the 4 Champions League trophies
also memorabilia from the heros of my youth: Paul Breitner, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Klaus Augenthaler....
the iconic legends of the 70s: "the Kaiser" Franz Beckenbauer, "The bomber" Gerd Müller, "the bull" Franz Roth, "the cat from Anzing" Sepp Maier......
and the superstars of the last 20years: Matthäus, Elber, Kahn, Scholl, Effenberg.......

the highlight was the original championship disk, awarded last saturday, not even cleaned jet after the party

after 6 hours in traffic jam we decided to do another stop in Nürnberg and walked through the famous old town and ate Nürnberger Bratwürste (the recipe has it's 700th birthday this year)

late in the evening we where home

there will be pics posted
and before any Uri-clone will ask:
no only pics from OUTSIDE the hotel room will be posted (the others are kind of blurry anyway)

I think I will go for a double date with dream and pillow soon. I wonder if dream will show up. At least I know that pillow will be there for me.

Happy birthday monkey!

I wish I knew of something to do around here that doesn't involve the partaking of alcohol.

Well, you could always post on some forum...

Well, let's hope the date with dream will have grande finale in bed.

There were dream, yeah, not one even. Still, as usual I only remember only fragments. There was flying, there was riding a car with police, there were places I know and some that I don't.

RPG Superstar 2012

Were you in a flying police car?

Nope. Flying was outside of car. Maybe even part of different dream.

Yay, I survived the Eurovision final without hearing a single song.

...then I ended up keeping the re-run on in the background while I was collating new magic items from last month's Pathfinder products...

My top-4 would have been

1) Greece - but since they're skint I'd have let my number 2 win.
2) Norway
3) Belgium
4) Denmark

And I take a bit of national pride in the fact that the arrangers' response to certain countries *cough*Turkey*cough* having reservations to the two women kissing at the end of Finland's song was to include an all-male wedding scene in the halftime-show.

And IFK Göteborg wins again. A double from Hysén*, and 20 points after 9 games.

*Not the guy who played for Liverpool last time they won the league, his son**.

**Which, as a Liverpool fan, is a bloody depressing statement as to how long it's been since the glory days.

What, did Finland try to troll some other country again?

No love for Bonny Tyler? :P

Although that's a solid line-up from the songs available.

Howdy FAWTLY Brethren. Been a busy day today, but I got some good stuff done.

Good night everyone.

Because of Max's culinary photo I am hungry now while having no bread left. Nor anything else except rice.

Being waked up by call from gasworks company about late bills and getting a deadline for tomorrow to pay is not a good start of the day. Especially when the cash they require is almost half of what I have.

Which is not much but also means I won't have money for late apartment bills.

Sorry to hear about that. I myself woke up 10 minutes before my alarm clock was going to ring.

I have no idea why I did that or how, but I lost a precious 10 minutes I could have used to sleep more!!

Heh, same here. I spent it laying in bed letting myself wake up more slowly rather than getting up and stumbling around zombie-style.

Also, heading off to the otaku cafe right after work. Hopefully they got the maids there this time.

Seems they've been taking a break lately due to the entry exams to University and all. Oh, and for an evening walk after the cafe.

Icy is simply doing these things to avoid a complete breakdown due to tomorrow's exam. Kind of sad, really.
