Scarab Sages

Stupid iPhone wouldn't connect well on the ride in today. Hence, I'm just getting around to my usual morning miniblitz.

Scarab Sages

nekkid miniblitz!!!

Scarab Sages

Brrrr...it's cold. Better put some clothes back on.

Scarab Sages

Was watching a new episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse last night with the boy. DID THEY THINK I WOULDN"T NOTICE?!?

Bastards changes the Mickey voice.

Heard the rumor that Disney would like to buy Hasbro. Interesting. I hope it happens. Although I couldn't see a deal like that going through for at least another year or two. Disney just shelled out $4 billion in the Lucas deal. Another such significant outlay of cash would probably have to wait.

Doesn't Hasbro own WotC?

It does.

Yes. Yes they do. And Transformers. And G.I. Joe! And a slew of other s##&.

Disney and Dragons: Donald Duck has to be a bard just because I want to see a player RP out a perform: sing in that voice.

Weirdest effect of that hurricane last week: I can't get this out of my head.

The you should watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Anytime they have a fantasy themed episode, Donald is a bard.

I know they've got My Little Pony as well, making innumerable crossovers all the more hilariously (im)plausible.

Scarab Sages

And, yes. He does sing.

That's less fun. A trained voice actor isn't going to break character and start laughing/swearing the same way someone at the gaming table would.

It would essentially give Disney majority control of a large portion of the entertainment that comes through to children of either gender.

He's definitely not a ranger with favoured enemy - chipmunks.

You underestimate the entertainment value of the Mouse at your own peril.

Need more coffee.

Lady & the Tramp the RPG. (Also includes the characters from 101 Dalmatians and Oliver!)

The Disney Channel sadly does not provide the requisite schadenfreude for my purposes.

That's the weirdest sentence I'll type today.

Bluh. I'm going back to bed.

Stupid phone, waking me up for a sub job...and then hanging up before I can get to you...and then falling on the floor when they call again...and hanging up when I pick you up because it's too dark to see the end call button.

When I was about 8 or 9, Swedish public service TV finally managed to shake up enough money to show Disney stuff more than once a year and started a weekly 1-½ hour Disney program. It was marvellous - several classic shorts with Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and/or Goofy, an episode of either Duck Tales or the ...Bumbi Bears(?), and most glorious of all - an old black and white live cast TV-version of Zorro.

That last one got so popular they even started issuing a Zorro comic book for the first time since before my dad was a kid.

This is why rotary-dial phones rock(ed).

It is known.

If you can ever find it, the Disney channel made a TV miniseries back in 1963 called The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh, staring Patrick McGoohan. He plays a preacher who masquerades as a rebel (The Scarecrow) against the British King. AWESOME flick. I've got it on DVD.

Edit: That and the movie The Black Hole. If you've never seen it, you're missing out.

Gummi Bears!

Hmmm... Gummi Bear RPG session?

Scarab Sages

I haven't seen Gummi Bears past season three :(

No! Bad Zombieh! Gummi Bears are not for eating! They are our friends!

Also, you were trying to eat Tummi's brain. It would not serve you well.

~contented Draconic sigh~ There is a reason for that. ~goes off to look for some more Gummi Bears to snack on~

makes note of Drejk's location as a target for The Horde

Thing I remember most about that cartoon was that the biggest bear was Lorenzo Music - the same guy who voiced Garfield in his cartoon.

No idea why I remember that particular bit of trivia. His name sticks in my head for some reason. Normally I can't remember actors to save my life.

Thanks O. I have some hidings to do, but I am hoping the (virtual) firestorm is over. I would have stayed away another two weeks had the contest gone the other way, but I figure it will get pretty quiet quickly now in the OTD, considering.

Silver Crusade

Morning, all. What did I miss?

What, I thought everyone knew about me being Finnish.

I knew only because it's popped up in some of the discussion threads, but some of the FAWTLies don't leave OTD very often =) And it's not in your profile so...

@Patrick: I'm just glad it's freakin' over. Hallefreakinleujah.

WELP.

You know that the End will be 10 minutes after you finishes?

Gah! I'm getting a crash course in being a boss with people getting hurt and sick and off work right before a deadline. I'm seeing why my old boss was so grumpy all the time.
