Or could you at least get some hold music that isn't terrible? Small mercies.

I always look forward to calling Merrill Lynch advisors for my job. Their hold music is always Vivaldi concertos, and it brightens my day. Hmm... Who can I call at Merrill Lynch right now...

Silver Crusade

Erk. That is not appropriate work attire.

Techie was super-nice and leagues more competent than the last few bozos I got. Now to wait and make sure my payment went through...

Perhaps smiting is unnecessary today.

I hear the complaints about lunch thefts on a regular basis. Names on boxes don't matter. We even had someone leaving the empty box behind in the freezer.

Buddy at work told me that, in his younger days, he 'prepped' a sandwich expecting it to be stolen. They found the culprit the next day when he spent most of it on the toilet. The guy never stole my buddy's lunch again, but never admitted to being a thief.

My favourite is when there is a recorded announcement in a train station apologising for the train being late and that our custom is important. It's not a real apology if it's recorded and not even a human voice.

And why don't they just put it on a loop, it's not like trains are ever on time.

I was looking forward to a good smiting.

Ooh, sandwich of naught but tabasco sauce and jalapenos might suffice...

Granted, I'd be in a situation if it didn't get stolen.

I know! I, like, love smiting!

Or, if holiday traditions are any sort of accurate reference, put a fruitcake on top. No one likes those.

*shoulders heavy flail* I can get behind this.

I've actually never had fruitcake. Not sure why it gets its reputation.

We're rapidly reaching a point where "If you don't need Skill Focus: Disable Device to access your lunch, you're doing it wrong" is a viable motto.

I love this thread.

Off to session. Without lunch.

Let me know how those turn out. I keep looking at them, but they scare me a bit. :)

I hope I'm the Gary in that story and not the PMG. Heh heh.

Good grief. Having accomplished my major goal for the day early, it takes only ten minutes to become hopelessly lost in the adorable and fuzzy section of youtube. This. This right here is why I am never to be given free time and always should be working.

I rather like it, if it isn't too dry.

The above soap opera digest is a work of fiction. Any semblance to persons living, dead, or undead is purely coincidental.

In other news, I successfully managed to derail a political discussion with a My Little Pony.

I like fruitcake a lot. But it is revolting if it sits around for five years before you try to eat it. Much better to make fresh every year. And not share any with the people who hate it. They will serve it to you stale later on in revenge. :)

I keep a fruitcake in my basement, in a nice, damp corner where it can hopefully combine with enough mold to one day gain sentience and proceed to dominate the human race.

You have sentient booze. There's a difference.

Great. Now I'm imagining an alcoholic sentient ooze.

So would it be an angry drunk or a crying drunk, and which would terrify a party more?

Jesus, 37 posts in an hour. It's like someone dropped a monk / paladin thread in here.

This is tame compared to the old speed this thread's predecessors used to run...

Your party has been hired by the village of Heinekin to address the problem of a drunken sentient gelatinous cube that has be ravaged the town breweries. It seems the more it consumes the larger it grows. You must time your attack for the moment when the drunken ooze gets weepy, and before it consumes the town's reserve of single malt.

I was one of those kids who'd tune out and read ahead, get done, and spend the rest of the class reading/doodling. Clearly understood the material but showed all signs of goofing off and not paying attention...which makes it difficult for the teacher to see if you actually understand it or if you just don't care. Actually ended up scoring a lecture at parent-teacher conferences over it in middle school.

"So, why is it a problem that Scint's reading? Aren't you supposed to encourage that?"
"During math? No."
"What's her grade?"
"...A."

I was...all right, am...also an utter smartass. And had no problems correcting a teacher when I knew they were wrong.

As for not being a good teacher, I'm too new to really have a handle on classroom management. This might be because I'm just a sub now - having the same kids all the time would make it infinitely easier as I'd be able to establish rules and routines rather than enforce ones I might find arbitrary. I'm worried I may be something of a doormat if push comes to shove. And as a kid who actually did like learning (though it may not have looked that way), I hated teachers who let the class clowns rule the day.

I was basically Hermione Granger with a tendency to mouth off. And fewer social skills.

We can do paladin stuff.

Smart-arse as a pupil = Bad
Smart-arse as a teacher = Good
Smart-arse as a gamer = mandatory

Guess I balance out to neutral then.

Who's supplying the lubricant and whips?

EDIT: This should have been a top of the page post, surely? ;p
