Well, Seattle has had its yearly snow dump and most of the Paizo folks are safe at home. Hardly anybody is at the office today. I think our warehouse guys are there shipping stuff out, but am not sure about Customer Service. In any case, we should be back to normal on Friday.

Just thought I would let everyone know about our adverse weather situation.

So everyone is home writing whatever the next chronicles book that they are working on is, right?

No who gets eaten first poll this year?

Boooooooring!

Does this mean we won't get a blog tomorrow? Or emergency technical support if the code beasts become restless? It's just a little snow, right? What could possibly go wrong?

Still can't figure out KaeYoss' post. However, the important thing is that I end the week tomorrow morning with new pretty pictures.

Last year, alot of them were kinda stuck at the office as opposed to stuck at home. Got a little Donner Party-ish then.

Thanks, Tessius. As long as I get my blog pictures, though, I can be spared the gruesome details. How's that for mercenary?

I heartily recommend the thread 'Lovely Snow' for your reading pleasure. We're expecting 6-10 inches of snow in my corner of MI tonight.

BTW, that Portland car crash video was out there. I hope that doesn't happen often.

I think Sutter was selected to be eaten first, but he distracted them and then bribed McArtor to brave walking to a nearby pizza or Chinese place if I remember correctly... (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong powers that be)

I remember Phil Larwood being on the hit list as well...

Man, you and your blog! You'd think it gave you life-giving energy or something! :)

Yes, it means there won't be a new blog. They tend to get written during the day, and since nobody is there to write or put the blog up, there isn't going to be a new one. You will also note that the online store didn't have a new blog either.

Hopefully we will get shoveled out and back to work soon.

I was just reading Jason Bulmahn's Blog (the Codex of Infinite Pains), and whilst I'm not a live journal subscriber so I can't respond there, I'd like to recommend the Curse of the Dark Pharoah expansion to The Arkham Horror board game if Jason's playing in Arkham over Christmas (or on days when he can't get to work because of snow).

Have the others passed you a copy of the index I've been working on? I sent Your pathfinder Editor-in-Chief version 1.5 earlier this evening, and as I recall you're running a playtest... :D

Yeah, I chuckled too the first winter I was out here. Then I noticed all the steep hills, the lack of plows and salters, and the roads graded for rain. Although I can still drive relatively decently, the rest of Seattle turns into a bunch of madmen when it snows. There are abandoned cars all over the place... It's a mess.

Re: Charles, I have heard good things about that expansion and hope to play the game again soon. Unfortunately, the snow that prevents me going to work makes it hard to get together for board games.

Come on over to our side of the Cascades (Tri-Cities). We're still getting dumped on. Spokane's got it even worse.

Doesn't compare to back east though.

Hey Charles:

Nope, haven't gotten it. Why don't you fire over a copy to me directly. Thanks!

PS: And, yep, I am running RotRL as a PFRPG playtest

Yeah, I realize the situation is vastly different, and I've seen Seattle in snowy conditions...I was just having a hard time sympathizing given that Spokane had a snowstorm come crawling in and just stop over us for a day and dump on us. I think I shoveled more snow in one day yesterday than I have collectively over the last six winters combined.

Sutter and McArtor look too scrawny to provide enough nourishment for the crew. Better to go after a more meaty one, like Jason or James Jacobs.

Yeah, we're getting it now. Nothin like you guys though.

Well if you're snowed in it sounds like a gaming marathon weekend! Ahh, remember the good old days when you could get away with that?

Good luck all! Be Safe!

I have used UK versions of spellings.

How much non-lethal (subdual, whatever) damage would your average snowball do, do you think? Started wondering about this owing to the weather here (50 cm (20 in) of snow predicted for the Toronto, ON area (we'll see if there is actually that much) and by the Snowball Sneak Attack OotS ornament illo on GitP from a couple years back.

1d2 for a true snowball... 1d4 for one with snow packed around ice

I would agree here, but I would add that the ice ball does lethal damage and any critical hit by a snowball increases the DC to avoid addition nonlethal damage from the cold environment by +1. A facewash, which is an optional maneuver you can perform during a grapple, increases this DC by +4.

how much damage does a yellow snow ball do?

Same as normal, but the target is sickened for 1d4 rounds, no save.

Its days like this that I wish I could ask Al Gore "what global warming are you talking about again?"

Southern Indiana.

Todays Weather (Friday): Early morning showers, with clearing skies. Windy. High of 65 and low of 45.

Saturday: Windy and cool. High of 45 and low of 30.

Sunday: Cloudy and cool. High of 18 and low of 9.

Typical December. Broiling one day, freezing the next. And no snow in sight.

The city has only been shut down once in the last 25 years, and that was from a 14-18" blizzard 4 years ago.

Maybe Paizo should relocate, then they would never have to shut down.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

65 is broiling? Or did I miss something?

I live in Florida. It was 85 degrees today. Imagine what summer is like.

As displaced new englanders, my mom would take me tobogganing in White Sands, New Mexico.

The locals looked at us like we were crazy.

They were right.

In just an hour or so, we are going to be hit with a windstorm that will be bigger than the one that took out power for two weeks in 2006. In my neck of the woods, there will be sustained 50 mph winds with gusts as high as 90 mph! Wish us luck as we try to make it through the weekend.

Or...

Go outside in a big purple cloak with stars on it and a big staff, topped with a crystal and carved with disturbing runes, and dare the weather to even think about trying anything nasty.

Not THAT good. I stayed inside and we weathered the storm none the worse for wear, though we are supposed to get ANOTHER four inches of snow tonight. Sigh. I am beginning to forget what the inside of Paizo's offices look like! :)

I have a couch (well, loveseat) in the U-District that's warm, at least. Of course, you might have to fight the chihuahua for it. She's ferocious, I tell you!

Looks like more and more snow for us this week. Sigh. Here is an article in the Seattle Times. Check out the picture of the person walking through blowing snow. That is where I live. :) I just hope I can get the 10 miles to my sister's place for Christmas.

hmmm... I was thinking of crossing Snoqualmie (sp?) to see Sis this break. Moscow (ID) did not get hit as hard as Spokane, but since no one knows how to drive and the city has no budget left to plow, looks like a snow week.
