Carrion Crown: Who Are You Playing?

Carrion Crown

101 to 143 of 143 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

there is a preview of the archtype on this site, and the campaign of carrion crown with weekly william doesn't start until some time in the fall. so both ultimate magic, and ultimate combat will be out by then.

the preview is one of the earlier ultimate magic previews on the paizo blog. should be about 2-3 weeks old.

but at least 2 of those 3 ideas were adult males.

though i may feel pressured to play Sole.

Mr. Fishy's character is a Mwangi Ju-Ju Pimp named Papa Loa. He's very flamboyant...very. He calls the sorceress [Mr. Fishy's Trollop] Snowflake. Papa Loa is here to quiet restless spirits.

WAIT! LAMASHTU?
Snow Flake and Papa Loa can't have zombies but the Half-orc worships Lamushtu...and you get to have a teacup pally...Papa Loa doesn't appreciate your attitude.

I'm GMing a game with a Nikola Tesla alchemist, a Mark Twain bard, a pirates of the caribbean Calypso witch, and an Imhotep cleric from the Mummy fame.

I am new to GMing and am already fearing what Tesla and Twain have in store since these PCs are veterans of breaking a game. The Imhotep guy wants a full blown mummy in the end, but for now he's alive. And then we have poor Calypso, having to hear the "I've got a jar of dirt" song at inopportune times.2 vets and two newb PCs and a newb GM Cthulhu help us. -_-

where can i find a mark twain archetype? lol.

I always thought of calypso as an oracle....

why can't i play a pixie ice sorceress who does the following?

freezes frogs for fun and enjoys watching them thaw, only to refreeze them

constantly spouts "I Am The Strongest!" at inoppurtune moments

curses summer with cute elementary school style 'swearwords'

calls everyone who beats her a "Cheater", no matter how honest thier methods

enjoys a good time with abberrations

and perpetually annoys everyone with dumb, childish pranks that fail horribly.

and her name is Cirno.

I finally got the characters straightened out for our game, which starts tomorrow.

In my game, the Professor is 72 years old. Each character is followed by parenthesis, wherein when they knew the Professor is denoted.

Half-elf Chelaxian summoner, 25, Nathaniel Thorn. A magical failure from the Korvosan Acadamae, saved from dark rituals and sacrifice by the Professor, and adventured with him for many years. In the present, his arcane power is manifested through his summon, a strange serpentine creature named Vaul. (62-65)

Human Ulfen-born phalanx soldier fighter, Felix Gray. An ulfen orphan from Caliphas, he was taken in as a boy by the Professor and educated for many years before being adopted by a family who migrated to Lastwall. In the present, learns of the Professor's passing after serving a tour of duty in a crusade against the Worldwound in Mendev. (56-61)

Human Garundi gunslinger, Samuel Crowe. An immigrant from Alkenstar who was mauled by a werewolf and met the Professor soon after, who saved him from his lycanthropic fate with belladonna root, or wolfsbane. Worked with the Professor for over eight years as a bodyguard and mercenary, but fell out of touch just long enough for the Professor to finally pass on. (61-69)

Dhampir Chelaxian wizard, Darien von Carstein. A half-vampire half-human prince to the Caliphas dynasty of vampires who met the Professor when they were both twenty years old and attending the University of Lepidstadt. The Professor, through friendship, helped Darien become more human, and they escaped Lepidstadt together, going on many adventures and travels for over fifteen years. (20-35, and beyond)

Human Kellid alchemist, Roarark. Hailing from a tribe of Kellids whose tribal land lay between Numeria and the Worldwound that was used to physical mutation as a side-effect of their proximity to the corruption to the planar gate, Roarark developed, instead of an external mutation, an internal one in the form of a strange alternate persona. Elected as tribe shaman due to his close connection with the "spirits", Roarark set out soon after, seeking a cure to the voice in his head as a means to an end to be de-elected shaman and to become a warrior, which was his ambition. He met the Professor soon after, and they traveled together through the Realm of the Mammoth Lords as the Professor taught him how to write and speak Common, giving him a rudimentary education. Ultimately, Roarark was the Professor's final companion, and less than a year after their final meeting has learned of the Professor's passing. (70-72)

In addition:

Human Varisian cleric of Sarenrae. No name! As a boy, his family was murdered, and he was raised by the Church of Sarenrae and ultimately became a priest of their faith. When he came of age, he forgave the man who killed his family, and, among rumors of him ascending to the rank of high priest of all Varisia, has taken a long sabbatical to travel and gain experience. His relation to the Professor is unknown.

here is another idea i had floating around for carrion crown in fall.

Nera Vanatori (i stole the last name from another group's thread)

19 year old Female human (1/2 chelexian 1/2 varisian) Conjurer (ban illusion/enchantmnet)

an apprentice from the Rozenport academy, held back for her alleged 'maturity issues'. it's not her fault that she is just a little bit crazy, she was expelled from the academy on her senior year for summoning an abyssal labrador retriever (fiendish riding dog) that went haywire.

as a child, Nera was neglected by her parents and left with little more than a bunch of books, a pet dove, and a stuffed doll to keep her company. she named this Doll Alice. and developed a neglect based disorder where she has a second personality that manifests through the doll. and removing her from the doll causes a great deal of panic. but it doesn't impact her abilities in the least.

Nera's familiar is a crazy talking dove (treat as raven) named Cecile, the 'trio' of Cecile, Alice, and Nera are all whack jobs in thier own right. even though the latter 2 are seperate personalities for the same individual. Cecille speaks common.

Nera's basic build

Conjurer (specialty school) opposed schools (illusion, enchantment)

Summoner's Charm (Su)
Whenever you cast a conjuration (summoning) spell, increase the duration by a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). At 20th level, you can change the duration of all summon monster spells to permanent. You can have no more than one summon monster spell made permanent in this way at one time. If you designate another summon monster spell as permanent, the previous spell immediately ends.

Acid Dart (Sp)
As a standard action you can unleash an acid dart targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack. The acid dart deals 1d6 points of acid damage + 1 for every two wizard levels you possess. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier. This attack ignores spell resistance

I have a group forming for this Saturday.

Halfling Cavalier. A noble line of halflings that breed dogs.

Human Urban Ranger. He's a hot mess of mental problems stemming from the murder of his city guard partner, and other issues.

Human Cleric of Pharasma. Probably the most normal member

Alchemist - Race and details pending

Elven Inquisitor of Desna - Details pending.

Thankfully, the Ultimate Magic will be out before we start our CC run; I was worried that I would buy the book and see something I just *had* to play, after I already had a character being run. I hate it when that happens. This way, I'll have all sorts of new goodies to over before we start.

I have house rules for retraining. Depending on situation and drasticness.

I have four character concepts I'm thinking about playing:

1. Fabian Dreschler, a half-elf son of a Hellknight and a forest elf who grew up in the church of Asmodeus. A cleric who's sole purpose as a character is to go from evil to good over the coarse of the campaign. He always heard his father killed his mother because he caught her aiding escaped slaves. In reality he was using his Hellknight status as a leader of a Milani order and saying he killed her was the only way to keep his cover.

2. Vorashka, half-orc sorcerer who killed a chieftain in his tribe over the affections of a woman. He is an overconfident, but charming Conan type who believes his ancestors were dragons. This character will be multi-classing into Barbarian and then to Dragon Disciple first chance he gets.

3. Zophielle Surtova, Taldan sorcerer daughter of a nobleman of the newly formed country of Sarandia. She is the daughter of my Kingmaker character. I would probably take the Starborn bloodline due to the Skald blood on her father's side (he is a blonde haired, blue eyed Taldan) but I would use feats to dip into the Maestro bloodline from Ultimate Magic (both her parents were bards after all).

4. Brannick Feist, a adventurous, fun-loving half-vampire solider of fortune who follows the path of Cayden Cailien. While he is a defender he has no respect for high-minded ideals like chivalry and honor and does whatever it takes to win a fight. I'm possibly dipping into rogue, but definitely aiming for Low Templar.

So yeah my party as usual is turning into a band of circus freaks! The Crooked Kin will probably offer them jobs!

-m half orc Inquisitor of Pharasma (think TNG Lt. Worf)

-m dhampir Ninja
-f changeling Sorcerer (Protean bloodline, green widow/gnome)
-m ? Ranger (urban)
-m Kellid Barbarian (Superstitious)
- TBD ???

So not only will it be a freak show, but I'll be tweaking for 7 PC's! Thankfully I'm used to doing that for my homebrew stuff but now I gotta look at the encounters, xp, maps, and treasure totals! W00t!

--Vrocky Horror Picture Show

And of course more of my long absent players are rising from the RP graves to join in on all the spookyness!

-m half orc Inquisitor of Pharasma (Lt. Worf)
-m half orc Alchemist w/ Bbn level dip to Master Chymist (Jekyll/Hyde)
-Arach Deatheye: m dhampir Ninja
-f changeling Sorcerer (Protean bloodline, green widow/gnome)
-m elf Ranger (ranged)
-m kellid Barbarian
-m orc Order of the Lion Cavalier from Lastwall
-m ? Summoner

Eight PC's and not a one can channel energy! Harrowstone is gonna be interesting. I'm going to have to max every foes hp's and add 50-100% more foes, treasure, and tweak the Research/Trial XP... joy!

My group had our first session last Monday. We wanted to have a game for all of us who were staying near our college over the summer break.

Our party:

(Me) Changeling Witch, Patron: Endurance - A character with a scholarly bent. Mathematics Prodigy and Teacher's Pet traits, this has been a big help in the very beginning when doing knowledge checks.

Half-Elf Ranger/Inquisitor of Pharasma - Wields a whip, which we all mocked him for right up until he darn near dropped a zombie in a single swing. Think a Belmont from Castlevania if he were a helf-elf.

Dwarf Earth Elementalist Wizard - Slow but sturdy, plus whenever he's on the ground, he gets a bonus to his caster level, which he has been enjoying a lot. So far all our encounters have taken place on the ground.

Human Rogue/Fighter/Bard (the idea ATM anyways) - So far this character seems to be our silver-tongued devil. Alas, when it comes to combat, he is crit bait, every combat so far, has had a crit hit him

I'm a little bit worried about our lack of divine magic, and so far I'm the only character with any healing. But, we'll see how it goes.

we had our first session friday. It went wonderful.

Our group consists of:

Human Paladin of Iomedae
Half-Elf Celestial Sorceress
Human Bard (Whip / Net)
Human Flame Oracle

Despite there being no Channel Energy, all Characters are mostly Charisma based and there is no Character with WIS above 12. Do you think thats a problem in the long run? All perception and other WIS based skills are bad!!
There are many humans so they can increase with skill points?

What do you think about this setup? Should i talk to the Oracle player if he could switch to a cleric?

Markus

Has anyone gone the other way with this, playing a character that has no business running around a gothic horror landscape? I was thinking it'd be fun to play a Halfling Bard "Lou Costello" type.

Dark Archive

We'll have our third session tomorrow night. The party just got on to the Harrowstone grounds for the first time so they'll be in dungeon-crawl mode for much of the rest of the AP. So far things have run great with a little tweaking.

Party:

Asher Readmon, Human Paladin of the Holy Gun and worshipper of Erastil
Ezrin, Huma Synthetic Summoner
Izkrael Silverstrike, Elven Bladebound Magus
Raph Conroy, Cleric of Erastil

We are going to start running Carrion Crown this autumn and for the first time in a while, I'm going to be on side of the GM's screen that features those 11 lovely iconics: that's it, I'm going to be a player character! :)

Here is the character I plan to play (15-points buy):

Szordrin Hyluan, CG elf Transmuter (Enhancement School Archetype)
Str 14, Dex 16, Con 10, Int 16, Wis 8, Cha 10
Feat- Dodge

As you can see, I'm going to play an unconventional wizard with relatively good physical abilities at the expense of his Intelligence and Wisdom so that he would be able to stand his own in battle even when he's out of spell. In that way, he will not slow down the group with the 15-minutes adventuring day syndrome that plagues many wizard out there. It's like if I was trying to play a Magus without being one, and this may prove to be an interesting challenge. Furthermore, those decent Strength and Dexterity scores will becomes handy when I'll be able to polymorph myself into a dire wolf. (;

Dark Archive Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere

I'm playing Lumina Anelisha's daughter, CN female human(kellid) Winter Witch 2. After running away from Irrisen, she lived very free-form life in Kaer Maga until heard about the professor. Positive, happy, free spirit yet at same time prideful, reckless and VERY neutral about everything.

We started Haunting of Harrowstone last week. And we have all of two PCs. I started them at level 2 to try and make up for some of the power gap. They made level 3 last night.

Lauren - CG Elf Inquisitor of Calistra
Asira - LN Changeling Summoner
Veli - eidolon, feathered serpent

When Professor Van Helsing, I mean, Professor Lorrimor sent letters to Kyonin inquiring about rumors of demon problems the only one who would answer was young Lauren. Ignoring her elders she corresponded with the professor until his death. (How could he be dead, he was only 60!) Her hobbies include revenge, pranking the church of Pharasma, and reading.

Asira grew up among a Varisian caravan. Being the odd child, she found herself alone more often than not. The other children weren't exactly mean, they just didn't want to be around an odd-eye. So Asira invented Friends. Of her Friends, one stood out above all the rest. After the strange voice stopped calling for her she set off in a new direction and was almost eaten by monsters. She kept the friendship she made with the nice professor who saved her for the rest of his life. Her hobbies include using prejudices to her advantage, making people think she's crazy, and knitting.

Veli started as a tiny ball of feathers and scales curled safely in the coils of Lissala, goddess of runes. Veli was sent to be the Friend of a girl of potential import, as the girl gained in power so would Veli. So continues Lissala's plans to regain relevance on Golarion.

Silver Crusade

I'm a couple sessions into DMing the AP. We have:

M Halfling Rogue
M Human Magus (Kensai)
M Human Musket-wielding Inquisitor of Pharasma
F Human Witch (Shadow patron)
M Half-Orc Paladin of Sarenrae

The lack of channeling was a worry, but I think it'll improve the horror aspects of Harrowstone. I'm letting them use Disrupt Undead and Holy Water against Haunts to offset this a little. They all suck at Diplomacy, so getting access to the records in the Temple and City Hall has been... difficult.

Liberty's Edge

Love the campaign so far. Are party's just starting broken moon, but we suffered our first PC death at just before the boss of Trial of the beast. Winter, our slightly psychotic, reblious, alcoholic 14yr old Chaotic rogue, encountered the typical response of a reblious teenager who refuses to listen to any adult, a deadly spanking from the fellow just before the final boss. We wept at her loss. Our current party line up includes:

Tosa sexy religious acolyte of Calistra (Human Celestial Sorceress 7)(she was a little too frisky to actually join the temple)
Bardic Archevist Mikolos (Human Bard 7, didn't take the archetype, but plays like it)
Jack (GM entered a surname of Mioff, but he preffers just Jack)(7 Swashbuckler from the Tome of Secrets).
The Raven, Saori.(Changeling Ninja 7, elder sister to the late Winter, so far much more amiacable, but a little bit of a drama queen (we encountered here as an actress of a theatre troupe)
Wilhemina, (Human 7 Oracle of Life. Really helpful if somewhat boring character. We'd not survive a lot of fights without her)
Alan: Human Oracle of Knowledge 1, Paladin of Irori 7 (Hospitaler & Sacred Servant archetypes)his last name is not "the Paladin". He was adopted and doesn't know his surname.

Recurring Characters:
Finn the Paladin: Human Paladin 7 (yes, his full name is Finn the Paladin)and his awesome saint bernard paladin non-mount. Seriously, the dog is a better fighter than he is...
Grim: Damphyre Inquistor 7 (soft and squishy, but when the stars align D*&(% can he hit hard!!!) Has a phobia of the paladins and oracles. "Stop healing me d$%# it!!!"
XXXX Dhampyre Cleric of Ugotha 7 (Crazy chic nearly killed half of Leapstadt at one point. Character is Neutral, but radiates Evil to high heaven)

No longer with us:
Sir Bidimus and his Lightening Cloud cat eidolon. Named after the fox and his mount in the Labrinth. I can't remeber the names. Gnome Summoner 3, decided adventuring wasn't his cup of tea.

XXXX and her Couatle looking eidolon, Human Summoner 6. Never gonna forget her... What was her name again?

The late Winter (Changeling rogue 6 personality described above.)She left us a will that I will have to transribe some time as it was quite hilarious. Her alignment was purely Chaotic, no need for good, evil or neutral discriptor as that varied with each passing breath. The paladin's had to ask her to leave the room for fear of false readings on their detect evil o' meter. Grim the inquistor spent a day at the local temple of Irori getting his detect alignment spells check when she radiates all of them.

My lineup changed during Haunting of Harrowstone. As we start Trial of the Beast, this is my current roster.

Urban Ranger 4
Vivisectionist Alchemist 4
Honor Guard Cavalier of the Dragon 4
Cleric of Pharasma 4
Oracle of still deciding 4

Inquisitor of Desna (Deceased)
Cleric of Pharasma (Took over the late Father Grimburrow's Job)
Halfling Cavalier of the sword (Retired after all the messed up stuff he saw)

We just moved into married housing at my new college, so I'll be running this one with a bunch of people I've never played tabletop with before and certainly never GM'd for! (They're mostly people I've met in the gaming club here, plus some friends of theirs, plus my husband.) Everyone came over to roll up tonight and we ended up with a full party. (Which means I don't have to make a GMPC, yay!)

So! Our gang of miscreants are at level one:

--Calilara (125), CG elf rogue, who is especially tall even for an elf
--Haskel Stonearse (55), NG dwarf barbarian/berzerker, who is especially short even for a dwarf
--Darsk (67), CN dwarf ranger, who is normal-sized and spent most of his money on a composite bow
--Kwen (20), LN human fighter, a laborer turned soldier from Molthune who wants to toss dwarves
--Father Beardowitz (117), NG dwarf cleric of Cayden Cailean, who caries holy ale and does not want to be tossed
--Klarion Bleak (??), NG halfling witch, who is totally not ripped off from some random witch-boy kid from DC comics (*cough cough*)

... man, this is one short party. One short, hairy, drunken party. (Half-hairy and half-drunken. And two-thirds short. STILL.)

Calilara, Kwen, Father Beardowitz, and Klarion Bleak were all on Lorrimor's payroll at various points in time, for unspecified reasons, bodyguarding, religious consultation, and magic consultation respectively. Haskel Stonearse and Darsk both saved his life, although we don't know if it was at the same time or on two separate occasions.

I'm in the middle of part 3 so far. The party consists of:

1) Maedlara Tessarin, called Tzefira (LN). Elf air wizard from Katapesh. She's fairly young, especially for an elven wizard. Tzefira met the professor when he went on a lecture tour/archeology dig about 20 years ago when she was still studying cantrips at the Temple of Nethys, and he was one of the few to encourage her interest in the Necromancy and Air schools as a joint discipline.

2) Henrik von Kava (N). A human cleric of Pharasma, he's native to Ustalav. Henrik was a friend of the professor's and got caught up in everything around the funeral, though the presence of the unrestful dead certainly ensured he wouldn't rest until they were all dead, again.

2a) Durodlon (LG). This elven paladin is an expert archer. Henrik von Kava's grandfather saved Durodlon's life about 50 years ago, so in order to repay the debt Durodlon is attempting to keep Henrik out of trouble. Unfortunately, that's not very easy ...

3) Grony Dawnblade (LG). Human paladin of Sarenrae, he and Durodlon had been wandering around Ustalav, righting wrongs and generally being paladin-y, before Durodlon found Henrik and joined him. Grony is a more traditional paladin who uses his full plate and tower shield to protect everyone else.

4) Ae'sos (CN). A human rogue whose main goals in life are to steal anything not nailed down and hide in the shadows while doing so, he is an expert at stealth. He joined the party after having been rescued from the prison at Harrowstone after being overcome by some of the monsters there, who had kept him alive as a ready blood source.

5) Keilani (N). This human magus is a devout worshipper of Sarenrae who enjoys nothing more than cleansing the world of evil. She heard of certain hauntings occurring in Ravengro and came to offer her services to Father Grimburrow.

Dead PCs:
1) Sahin Hale, changeling sorceress (CN). Replaced by Keilani.
2) Tahl'ik, half-elf fighter (NG). Replaced by Grony Dawnblade.

GMing this after just having finished Kingmaker a week ago. Really looking forward to how it will progress.

Party is as follows:

Angus; Human LN Gunslinger/Cleric of Abadar (Gestalt)
Arkamit; Human NE Conjurer/Mindchemist (Gestalt)

Using SKR's step system tweaked for gestalt and also the raising the stakes part of "Raising the Stakes: Drama Rules for Action Fantasy Campaigns" by Ryan Stoughton.

As they usually do, they made a group ready made for internal strife and ill-prepared for the dangers they (as players) expect to face. What can I say - they're all seasoned Vampire/Call of Cthulhu players...

* Noble Dhampyr - raised by her Vamp mother, she still seems to be getting along better with Lorrimor's daughter & the natives of Ravengro than anyone else.
* Changeling Summoner - based loosely off of Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter movies. Always wandering off by herself and seeing minor haunt manifestations in town.
* Tiefling Witch - looks more like a barefoot Varisian gypsy than a traditional Tiefling (thanks to the random charts in the Tiefling article during the Counsel of Thieves run), and she gets plenty of grief because of it.
* Aasimar Paladin (of Iomidae) - that halo of his makes him stand out as much as anyone else, and is perpetually in conflict (as you might expect) with the rest of the party over things like wanting permission to break into crypts and such.
* Taldain Corpse Mage - day job was being a gravedigger. Hasn't pulled out any of his serious mojo yet, so no one (in or out of the party) has really taken much notice of him compared to all the other freaks and foreigners in the party.
* Varisian/Ustalavian Fighter - a mercenary soldier who's not very bright, he's sort of the "everyman" of the party.
* Alkenstar Gunslinger - ugly and foreign, he keeps trying to play the romantic man with no name with a low charisma & no social skills to speak of. Best candidate for being run out of town so far.

The Noble class we're using is from the Freeport Companion, while the Corpse Mage is the subset of the Death Mage from Super Genius Games.

The lack of Positive Energy power the party can produce will certainly help balance the challenge for an otherwise large group I suspect - at this point the main healers/positive energy characters seem to be the Paladin (in a level or two) & the Witch (who has the Healing Hex in addition to her spells).

Well, we're mid-way through Trial of the Beast, and we've shrunk some & changed a few faces. Gone are the Summoner, the Witch & the Aasimar Paladin. A Human Rogue, Human Bard & Gnomish Oracle of Bones came & went. The Death Mage died and was Reincarnated as a Dhampyr (got GMs choice, and since the Dhampyr Noble fed on his corpse right after he died, it seemed like a thematically reasonable choice to me...), and they've been consistently joined by a Elf Ranger/Paladin of Erastil (brought over from my stalled Kingmaker campaign, so he has the iconic Stag-Lord helmet which occasionally causes trouble for him with the locals).

They also have Kendra Lorrimar with them as a Cohort giving some spell & divination support, & reacquired the Bard & Oracle (along with a few others) as low-level support Followers - all part of the Dhampyr Noble's ever growing entourage.

Dark Archive

Well I started out with:

Istivahn Vaelanaqous a Cleric 3/Fighter 2 of Iomedae who had plans on becoming a Holy Vindicator until I realized that the unlawful and less than scrupulous party he was running with were not the type pf people he should be associating with, so the Gm killed him off and in came.

Hadjee Hareeme a Bladebound Magus 6. Who was working out fairly well but was rather unremarkable in combat (I have the bad habit of being a horrible die roller) met his end to Vroon or Vrood or whatever his name was with a enervation failed save followed by a cloudkill failed save.So now in comes.

Stephan Vaelanaqous, not related to Istivahn. A level 9 Hedge witch with the healing patron, who is working out great but I am sure will bite the bullet soon as he is awfully weak physically and has very low HP. He was already one shotted by some Dagon priest by a cone of cold spell.

As promised some time ago here's my party:

Veronika: Changeling Inquisitor of Milani
Daedelus: Human Inquisitor of Desna
Durim: Dwarven Inqusitor of Iomodae
Pasca: Gnome Inquisitor of Saranrae (sin eater archetype)

Durim acts as the Tank wearing full plate and using a shield. Veronika acts as magical support using debuffs to help the front line. Pasca emulates the rogue getting flanks and using teamwork feats to his advantage and Daedelus is the ranged support, using his heavy repeating crossbow to take down opposition.

It's working quite well so far.

Pasca emulates the rogue getting flanks and using teamwork feats to his advantage and Daedelus is the ranged support, using his heavy repeating crossbow to take down opposition.

It's working quite well so far.

Awesome idea. I'm always interested in all-one-class parties and other unusual configurations!

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Of course, I think you all should be playing characters from our Gothic Heroes, designed specifically to have gothic flavor and to succeed in this very adventure path--and written by some of the actual AP authors!!!

I am DMing a group that starts first weekend of November. Between then and now, we are RPing 1 on 1 sessions that take place at some point in their pasts where they will meet Prof. Lorrimor. So rather than having them choose a campaign trait from the player's guide, they are going to get a chance to actually RP out that meeting and its impact on their lives so that the Professor's death and funeral will have a bit more of an emotional impact. The party consists of:

1. Wraith: Female Human (Azlanti) Gunslinger: Already did her 1v1 session. She was raised by tengu pirates in the Shackles, in particular by an old tengu oracle named Scrivener. The 1v1 session had Prof. Lorrimor and his daughter, Kendra, on the tengu ship as passengers going to meet Father Grimburrow who had apparently tracked down someone important to Prof. Lorrimor's research. Little did Lorrimor know that the younger woman who was first mate on board the pirate ship was the pureblood Azlanti he was looking for in the first place. After a fight with some Chelaxian privateers, the truth comes out though and you find out that Lorrimor, Grimburrow and Scrivener (as well as Marjori Red, the over-large cook on the ship) were once adventurers together when they were young. Wraith was told something of her parents (also friends of Lorrimor's) and told to keep in touch.

2. Sir Victor: Aasimar Paladin of Iomedae: Also did this 1v1. Victor doesn't know he's an aasimar. His 1v1 session was set about 7 years prior to the Lorrimor's death when he is a squire to a Knight of Ozem and journeying through Virlych on a scouting mission. They encounter a wounded Father Grimburrow who says that his friend, Lorrimor, is still somewhere in the nearby graveyard and asks for their help. They head in, encounter a haunt and finally some Whispering Way cultists who have Lorrimor tied up. After saving Lorrimor, the professor and the young knight become friends.

3. Unknown name: Dwarf Cleric of Torag: Haven't done the one on one session yet, but it will take place a little over 20 years prior to the campaign where he will come across a destroyed caravan where most are dead and find the young baby in her dead parents' arms. A much younger Lorrimor and Grimburrow, along with Scrivener from above also meet up there and after some fighting with some Chelaxian diabolists, the baby the dwarf PC saved is handed over to Scrivener to go into hiding with (which then connects to the first character above who is that baby).

4. Unknown name: Kobold Summoner: The kobold PC will effectively have the Birthmark character trait except that it will represent that he was hatched with silver scales. Ostracized by his kobold tribe, he must fend for himself until he finds the kindly patronage of one Prof. Lorrimor.

5. Varisian Wizard (Generalist): From a wealthy Varisian family in Korvosa, the wizard will be the one evil character in the bunch (NE) with his bonded item being his bladed scarf and a penchance for being well prepared to get out of any lethal situation, so not the blaster type wizard, more utility type.

Still have some of the 1 on 1 sessions to do for the Lorrimor connections, so we'll see how it goes :)

I am currently playing a level 3 human Dervish Dancer Bard named River. She wields a Fauchard (1d10, 18-20/x2, reach, trip) with Combat Reflexes (4 AoO per round) and uses her Cestus or Kukri for close combat. Battle Dance as needed, Arcane Strike with every available swift action, Remove Fear and Feather Step when necessary. Grease when advantageous.

Her ability scores are STR17, DEX16, CON15, INT11, WIS13, CHA13 (4d6, drop lowest)

Eventually, the plan is to go Urban Barbarian 1 / Dervish Dancer X. I'm aiming for a River Tam feel (from Firefly / Serenity), skilled with almost any weapon, controlled rage (STR & DEX), Power Attack, Lunge, Cleave feat tree (maybe), Two-Weapon Fighting, etc.

The rest of the party is made up of a demonic Tiefling Paladin of Iomedae (longsword and shield), a stoner Aasimar cleric of Pharasma (Aspergilium and shield), a Changeling Sorceress (Shocking Grasp), a Sverniblin Rogue (dagger and sling), and a shaved Dwarven Monk of the Four Winds (fist, elbow, foot, knee, etc.)

When everyone initially announced their characters, the GM commented that River was going to die. He's probably right, but I'm doing my best to make her combat viable. I've always hated Bards so this character was built as a bit of a challenge to myself. So far I'm really liking how she's developing.

Edit: I'm using one of the Hollow Waif minis from Wyrd/Malifaux. Pic (not mine)here.

We played session 1 last night

My PC is: Burdan Ghostwalker

Burdan has always known of the things ‘before’. The great and secret show that goes on beyond the ken of mortals.

Eons before the so-called Gods dwelt around Golarion, there was a powerful weave that held a great void. Beyond this veil and weave was fought a great war and the things man-has-forgotten where cast out from the void. Cast out, to sleep.

The stars were formed and the new dawn of petty gods appeared. One can look at the stars and the heavens and see many things, but Burdan, a powerful sorcerer in those days, of a bloodline not understood, knew the stars formed a tapestry, a dark weave that connected all things, and when this tapestry is complete the elders before time and space, will return....

Seeking knowledge to confirm his thoughts and fears and rumours, he arrived in Ustalav, having heard of a small sanatorium, where mad folk talked about Veils, and Weaves, and entities beyond the array of new petty ‘gods’. It appears they had been Whispering Way cultists, and ensuring their escape Burdan convinced them to show them the Great Machine they had been working on, a telescope that could read the weave. Pouring his entropic force into the machine it began to show many things, but ultimately it was too much and the machine and the cultists and Burdan were shattered in their souls, and their bodies enervated from the pouring of alien energy.

Burdan awakes, his mind and body drained, his sorcerous powers wiped out, his body forever drained of its eldritch energies, a shell of what he was before. He had been deafened by the screams of anguish of the dying cultists, and he himself would never speak again... It appears he had been found by the wandering Professor and healed by one of his own machines......

His body now wrapped in tight bandages, and melded together in a suit of chainmail, Burdan left one day vowing to return, to help the professor if he needed him.

Burdan could no longer settle in the care free gnome way of life, and he hid himself away both physically in a dusty cave and socially hiding behind purple robes, etched with symbols he half remembered, but knows not what they do, a life with no direction, a void in itself.

One occasion he was watching the stars in the sky and he suddenly saw beyond the stars, into the tapestry beyond and could feel its presence and power. Whsipering voices called to him and it seems he could manifest the power of the cultists, do their shattered souls remain within him? Determined he makes haste to return to Ustalav to seek the professors guidance, but alas has arrived too late. Still, this region appears to hold many answers?

.....Gnome, with everything swapped out, dual cursed dark tapestry oracle; of deafness and haunted. He awesome to play

I'm soloing a party of 4 characters. Just finished Haunting of Harrowstone and have begun The Trial of the Beast.

1) Ahmed Antar, a halfling Investigator archetype Rogue. A recently graduate from a constabulary academy of Bevoy. He owes his current career to Lorrimor's intervention and acts as the parties "face" and master of research. Ahmed loved nothing more than a good puzzle, enigma or mystery and will stop at nothing to solve them.

2) Oduum Blackshield, a dwarven Cleric of Pharasma from nearby Belkzan. Lorrimor guided him to the church of Pharasma, resulting in the dwarf renouncing his racial responsibilities, his wife leaving him and his traveling to the surface to serve the goddess of death.

3) Het Masteen, a naive human Sorcerer (undead bloodline), who has traveled from faraway Korvosa seeking his heritage. Normally a pleasant and upbeat man, he is occasionally overcome by a strange visions and trances that suggests a hidden darkness within him. While Het never met Lorrimor, he was saved by Oduum from orcish bandits while traveling through the Belkzan hordes.

4) Lawrence Trueheart, an orphaned human from Lastwall, who recently pasted his trials to become a Paladin of Iomedae. He was set on the path of a religious warrior by an early encounter with Lorrimar who sought Lawrence out to find out more about a rare type of undead the young man had encountered. Trueheart’s arrogance, over confidence and need to prove himself constantly prevent him from being the leader that he desperately wants to be.

Dark Archive Vendor - Fantasiapelit Tampere

Our group is weird, doesn't always work together but boy are we funny.

My character, Rhaegos Gathos, Cheliaxian tiefling criminal. Ugly, womanizing sociopath. Was hired by professor ages ago, kinda liked him. Really likes knives and shivs and such. Unpredictable and dangerous. Also, the second face of the party with best Diplomacy skill.

Zoroaster Armenia, human magus. Grim and scarred man who excels in swordfight and magic. Reasonable, determined and self-proclaimed leader. Face of the party with the attitude and guts. Burned his face when he worked as a smith. Crafted his own Bastard sword. Rhaegos calls him "Scarface" or "boss."

Turonnimodge the Scribe, gnome alchemist. Bomb-throwing little man who is suprisingly ethical. Gets well with everybody, and everybody likes him.Came to Ustalav from Nex. Petros was his teacher in Lepidstad UN when he arrived. Positive and diplomatic, yet leaves the talking to the big men. Rhaegos calls him "Stunty."

Sturm, half-elf inquisitor of Calistria. Silent, unsocial, loner. Vengeance is his life's main course. When he speaks, it's often something hard or suprising. Likes Turonnimodge most. Rhaegos calls him "halfblood" or "pointyears."

Lantern Lodge

considering how long it's taking weekly william to move on. ((he is deliberately slowing his current one)). it will be a long time before he does carrion crown, and the longer i wait, the more odd concepts i come up with and the more absurd they become.

Several characters we started with were switched out. The ones we disposed of are:

Channing Tatum: M Human Bard (Archivist), the Professor Jones character. Professor of Archaeology at Lepidstat U(Called Professor Hot-to-Trot by the female characters).
Draga: F Human Sorcerer (Sage): Professor of anthropology at Lepidstadt U specializing in the design and purpose of prehistorical Menhirs and monuments.
Velma: F Elf Alchemist (Mindchemist): Alchemical researcher at Lepidstadt U.
-----

The ones still in the game or replacing the others are:

Goroma: CN (now CG) F Half-orc Cleric/Fighter of Gorum. Goroma started out extremely suspicious of everyone's intentions and more willing to start a fight than talk it out. She has a soft spot for the helpless and is the one character who has been donating her money to help children get education. She refuses to enter any temple of a rival god and disdains all other Gods.

Richtor: CG M Human Inquisitor of Iomedae (but being converted slowly to Desna). From Andoran, Richtor has a keen sense of right and wrong and a taste for adventure and dare devilry.

Balriegh: CN M Tiefling Alchemist (Grenadier): Scarred and grotesquely disfigured, Balriegh fled Cheliax and surgically removed outward signs of his planar heritage. He is straight forward and pragmatic, preferring to deal with problems via intimidation or (even better) explosives. He runs Balriegh's Brews in the Chemist's Corner of Lepidstadt.

Samuel: LG M Human Truenamer (3.5): The scion of a Andoran political dynasty. Samuel found himself in Ustalav in an attempt to make his own way. He has a strong sense of justice and a keen, insightful mind and works for Judge Daramid as an assistant and problem-solver.

Alois: M Human Inquisitor/Rogue of Pharasma: Unfortunately this character has missed a lot of sessions. Not much to say about him yet.

Tavi: LN M Oread Monk from Tian Xie: Tavi is travelling and exploring and gets caught up in the adventure after leaving his acrobatics act with the Crooked Kin to adventure with the party. He is disciplined and constantly training.

If I ever get to play and not run it?

Wren - CG Human Cleric of Desna, A friendly storyteller who enjoys the company of strangers and children. He hopes to bring some cheer to the "gloomy" folk of Ustalav. Most likely Talorian in origin.

My campaign finally started last Thursday. The party is:

1) Caelnin Elensar, elf alchemist (chirurgeon archetype). Adjunct professor at Lepidstadt University, and a long time friend of Petros Lorrimar. Has the breadth of knowledge feat, which means he essentially knows how to do everything. Was a 1st level expert until recently; he began the path of the Chirurgeon after the case of Unther Stargazer III and realizing his love for mad science.

2) Unther "Oz" Seamus Stargazer III, half-giant ranger (shield combat style, guide and trapper archetypes). Originally a human boy named Wart, he was a slave in Belkzen who lost his arm helping a ancient dwarven scholar, Unther Stargazer escape the orcs. When the old dwarf came back with Petros Lorrimar to save the remaining slaves, they found Wart severely, direly wounded. Petros and the old dwarf brought him back to civilization and with the aid of Caelnin Elensar saved the boy through extreme surgical measures. By which I mean they implanted Numerian technology in him. The old dwarf adopted the boy as his son, giving him his current name. The boy growing up into a half-giant appears to have been an unforeseen side effect. Oz keeps his replacement arm and his reconstructed face carefully hidden, and talks very little. Surprisingly skilled cook.

3) Leda Idona Zaya Idea Aiday Tess, half-Varisian/half-Vudrana human Sorcerer (Sage bloodline). A childhood friend of Kendra's, Leda's parents spent some time in Ravengro before moving back to Caliphas, and they remained in touch. Leda had trained under Petros to be a wizard. Leda accompanied an expedition to the Crown of the World to investigate ancient ruins that Petros has discovered in his youth, that appeared to be sealing something in. While her expedition was there the seals broke under complicated circumstances, and things got bad quickly. Leda woke up back in Caliphas to discover (a) she was now a sorcerer and (b) the professor had been dead for a week.

4) Aelthyphine Eytherane, elf fighter (two-weapon warrior archetype). Hailing for Kyonin, she and her father had done work for Petros Lorrimar, and even saved him once from the Whispering Way. A bit sneaky, a bit acrobatic, and very, very much impulsive.

5) Miranda Kateri, changeling cleric of Desna (luck and travel domains; was allowed to give up medium armor and shield proficiencies for two extra skill points). Miranda grew up in Carrion Hill, and turned to Desna and the study of divine magic as her ticket out of the city. Miranda grew up knowing that she had a twin sister who had simply gone missing from the cradle one day, and was never found. Once the dreams began, she was faced with the choice of Mr. Waldur Crove's asylum or to follow the dreams into the swamps. She opted for the swamps, but fortunately for her what would've been the final dream vision got hijacked by the Song of the Spheres, and so she was led to a chance encounter with the Professor instead of her birth mother. The Professor explained to Miranda her heritage, and promised to help deal with the hag when the time came.

They're 20 point characters and experienced players. I'll be doing slow exp. progression and ramping up encounters as I deem necessary.
