This item is fun, and that's why I play RPG's, for fun. My players would abuse it to no end, but I would abuse them back and they would learn to be very, very careful with it. It might go something like this:

Players: "We escape from the cell using my bag of holes."
GM (Thinking: crud, I forgot about that bag!): "Okay, unfortunately you opened a hole directly beneath a lake, roll..."

BTW, was I the only one that had a flashback to The Beatles, Yellow Submarine? Quote, "I've got a hole in me pocket."

Normally, I bemoan items that make adventuring easier or eliminate part of the rigors of being jailed or locked out of town or whatever. But this item is fun, imaginative and very useful. It's one of those like the immovable rod that gets even better in the hands of a clever player that thinks outside the box. Protect yourself from advancing oozes. Cast it down the segment before your monk friend goes to increase someone's falling damage by 4d6. Kudos.

I think there are holes in the presentation, but I think it's actually presented better than a lot of its peers and I really like this item.Stick to the template, and keep this kind of thinking going in round 2. I'm excited.

Dear Mr. Merbeck,

This is a response to Ask A RPGSuperstar Succubus' post from the point of view of a CN aligned gnome – fairness is not the same thing as resembling a fairy, balance is no longer it's own skill check, and logic is a mount shouldn't be able to make Stealth checks for its fullplate wearing rider.

Dear Miss A. A. RPGSupersuccubus,

I would like to begin this letter by expressing my pleasure at having been contacted by such an esteemed and honorable individual such as yourself.

In regards to your previous request: while your terms are more than generous and I am certain that your associates' intentions are altruistic and that my invention would be used for the betterment of the sentient races, I have already traded the rights to my Bag of Holes to one Paizo Publishing.

I am quite familiar with these "walls" you speak of and made a vow many years ago that never again would I be foiled by such a base and mundane object. Having found my own ways to deal with these "walls", I created this item as a way for the common man to avoid potentially embarrassing or fatal encounters with these vertical surfaces. Paizo's representative (a rather charming golem) has assured me that his company has the resources and intention to make my invention available to the masses, for a reasonable price.

(Also, my lawyer has advised me not to make bargains with beings from the, ahem, Lower Planes. No offense intended.)

-Sincerly,
The Leaping Gnome

Dear Miss A. A. RPGSupersuccubus,
...Mr. Merbrook is my agent, I have made a deal with Paizo, etc, etc...

Disclaimer:

Ask A RPGSuperstar Succubus is posting from the point of view of a CE aligned succubus – fairness is an adjective applicable to hair coloration, balance is what a couple of mortals on opposite ends of a plank pivoted on a rocky spire above a drop of several hundred feet into a pool of molten basalt frantically try to do, and logic is something which proves anything a demon of adequate status and charm requires it to demonstrate.
Dear Mr. Leaping Gnome,
I relayed your news and my friends and contacts in the military were more than pleased to learn that you (or your representative) has signed a deal with Paizo Publishing; the creative director of Paizo Publishing is an intimate associate of theirs and indeed he had recently published a book propounding many of the ideologies and benefits of the Abyssal view, 'Lords of Chaos'. They will contact him shortly and are confident that they can secure sufficient access to the blueprints and prototypes to produce their own version of your device. To a certain extent - indeed - most of them were much relieved to learn this, as they believe it will prove a much cheaper option all round - a recent planar economic downturn caused by wildly speculative investments by a cabal of the Denizens of Leng has been hitting budgets, even in the Abyss.
Sadly, my friends and contacts' interest in the welfare of yourself and Mr. Merbrook has lapsed, and they have called off certain operatives they had protecting your backs. It might be a good idea for you to put word around the bounty-hunting community as speedily as possible that you have sold your device, as there may be some amateurs a little behind on current events who still believe that they can collect a bounty on your head. There are also a minor number of unfortunates who don't care if they get paid or not. I would recommend a heavy duty repeating crossbow with cold-iron tipped bolts for the incubus hiding behind the fifth rose bush.
Hoping that you find this communication Helpful.

Yours,

Ask A RPGSupersuccubus.

PS
No offence taken, but have you made absolutely certain that those lawyers aren't in league with Asmodeus? If you look hard enough most of them to turn out to be men or women indirectly in his employ.

The only thing I noticed was that in the Requirements part, you hadn't italicized the spell names.

I'm still kicking myself about this. I've got the spells italicized on my Word Document for this, I just missed the BBCode when I submitted it! I'm going to double and triple check all of my entries from now on the.

The Craft Wondrous Items was totally my bad though.

Personal experience taught me to put the BBC codes in the word doc instead of italics/bold/etc. It may not look as shiny in Word, but it's a good way to avoid that 'crap, I forgot!' problem.

Dark Archive

This is awesome. It's a Bugs Bunny sort of magic item, in the way that Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments were, and I love it for that reason.

Grabbing 'holes' and throwing them at the ground to create pits? Very, very cool. Even a little gonzo, but in a good way.

Being left with an undamaged (presumably masterwork, for whatever that's worth) sack when the item is out of charges? Hilarious.

That's a really good idea. Thanks for the tip!

This is super cool. The make whole effect really does complete the package. I'm also a big fan of one-hole-at-a-time, as this keeps you from just cutting through a dungeon or maze, at least if you plan on coming back out.

Great item, I would definitely use it.

I declare this to be ... Mojo!!

This item is great. In my home campaign, one of my players is running a dwarven earth wizard who uses the various create pit spells all the time. He would flip over this thing.

Very nice, tight design here too. Kudos and great job!
